While many skincare influencers on youtube are talking only about K-beauty these days, I very much appreciate you put focus on J-beauty too! In my personal opinion J-beauty is overall gentler, more effective and reliable (not to mention the spf...). Great review.

@@Andrew-hr6bu For the start you may want to look into these brands called Curel, Hada Labo or Nameraka Hompo for sensitive skin. Each brand has line suitable for oily & dry skin, whitening line etc.

@@Andrew-hr6bu For me personally I mix products from different brands in my routine after learning what each product is meant to deliver, so that I can enjoy more benefits to deal with several skin concerns in a single routine. For example within the mentioned 3 brands; 1. Cleansing oil - Hada Labo (the only brand with the typical cleansing oil that works perfectly) 2. 2nd cleanser - Curel (their foaming cleanser is superb in cleansing but at the same time gentle and hydrating) 3. Toner - Hada Labo (this brand really specializes in toner category - many choices that work. I used their gokujyun light toner for multi HA hydration) 4. Serum - Nameraka Hompo (this brand has retinol in their products at a very affordable price. Their signature ingredient Soy is great for nourishing and whitening too, so I like using their product at serum stage) 5. Moisturizer - Curel (this brand use pseudo-ceramide in a very high concentration thus I like using it in moisturizer step to strengthen my skin barrier) 6. SPF - Nameraka Hompo (their sunscreen is lightweight and comes in big tube, so useful considering I apply fair amount of spf on daily basis) ...These are the routine mixing the 3 brands I ever tried before and it was great.

I love Hada Labo the best, followed by Sana Nameraka, the various Shiseido drug store lines and Kose for whitening products, and then Curel and Biore for basic stuff like cleansers. I would like to try Albion and Kanebo but they are hard to get outside Japan. I much prefer J-Beauty to K-Beauty as I've been using it for many years since living in Japan and it works better with my skin, while I've only used K-Beauty for the past year but find the more scientific nature of Japanese products better than the more natural/fermented ingredient route Korean brands tend to take

Hada Labo moisturizer! I haven’t tried the original, which is for everyone, but their 3D gel moisturizer is amazing for someone with oily skin (I know you have dry skin, sorry!) . It’s light, you need like a fingernail sized amount and it’s so good. The sunscreen, girl. Again, I don’t know about dry skin but I can use their sunscreen and I’m on the “it’s been a full day” shiny scale at the end of the day instead of a grease pit. I use it as a makeup primer too. You will probably like the naturie moisturizer because I tried it and it felt like my face was drowning lol.

I absolutely in love with Japanese skincare. I don't know why, but Korean skincare didn't work on me and actually made my skin worse. Now I'm mostly using American brands and Japanese brands. Nameraka Honpo series are amazing, my favorite products are their eye cream (it's cheap and the content's a lot) and the lotion. My boss bought it for me and I was shocked, my skin was like a mochi when I woke up in the morning. I also love love love their sheet mask, LuLuLun, Saborino, Keana Nadeshiko, Quality 1st, Transino, Minon, Barrier Repair etc.

It is SOOOO hard to find J Beauty vids and even harder to find vids that focus on midrange. its either drugstore brands or insanely expensive brands/products and nothing in between . Like, somewhere around the 25-45 USA dollar range. Also, do you think you can do a monthly Cosme run down? Maybe pick a friday and read off the top skin care products? i know its updated every week but getting a rundown once a month will still kinda keep us in the loop :) I would love to use cosme except , well, i don't speak Japanese, unfortunately lol Thank you for focusing on J Beauty! Hey there! I'm sorta new to your channel and been loving your content so I was watching through the backlog I guess you could say of videos you have and I noticed what I guess you might call a trend(?) in the chemical exfoliants you've tried so far in that they're all fairly gentle. Even the pixi one is more of an everyday use, less concentrated formula than other things out there and it struck me that that might be why you're not seeing much success with chemical exfoliants(really don't mean to sound patronizing or tell you what to do here, please hear me out): if you don't have sensitive skin, which you don't seem to, you might be trying products that are too gentle to make a difference for you. Physical exfoliants, even the very fine ones, are actually a pretty strong and hardcore way to exfoliate, so it might be a case of going from exfoliating at 55 percent capacity to 15 percent capacity for you if that makes sense, so of course you wouldn't see as big of a difference. Im one of those people who had(and still has) acne that used to be pretty severe(thankfully it's much better now) and I often found that stuff like the cosrx bha power liquid or other kinds of daily exfoliating toners did pretty much nothing to me and I used to swear by this soap and glory wash that had beads in it because it had that lovely immediate effect of making my skin look and feel smooth and radiant that physical exfoliants give, and I later found that I could get the same results with powerful chemical exfoliants as well. Now, I'm not saying to smother your face in acids or anything like that, and I know it sounds quite scary, which is why a lot of people tread lightly in the beginning, but I think that wash-off products are much better than toners for this purpose of getting started when most of the gentle stuff just doesn't give results. Personally, I've had great success with the facetheory clarifying cleanser, it's a creamy type cleanser you put on your skin and leave for a while(like, for me I do it while I brush my teeth, so about 1-2 minutes) you wash it off, and its honestly just as good if not better than the physical exfoliaters I tried. Obviously since it's a cleanser if you feel it's too strong you can just wash it off much quicker, (though it is supposed to tingle, not burn though) and only do it once a week if you want to or something, but if you manage to get your skin used to it enough that you can leave it on for the 2 minutes, it's pretty damn transformative, at least in my experience, and I think your skin can most likely deal with it(it might not even burn from the get-go). Obviously a lot of people will recommend the ordinary's aha bha skin peeling solution for the same kind of use but personally I just didn't have as good results with that one (it made my skin burn quite a lot and honestly I don't feel it made as much of a difference as being able to use the cleanser for two minutes more often did). Anyways, sorry for the long comment, just saw a lot of myself in there and felt like maybe my solution might work for you...? Regardless, I wish you all the best!!

skII is worth a tryfor some. it smoothed out my skin nut gave me cystic pimples at the same time, which is strange. and the smell was strong

I didn't like skII. I felt it dried my skin. It felt like it contained alcohol. Idk if its true. But a lot of Kbeauty products I have bought have alcohol. I dont like how it dries up my face.

Biore watery essence sunscreen has alcohol and fragrance, it gave me some red bumps on my face, so now I only use it on my neck. So sad since its texture is so nice. Only use fragrance free, alcohol free sunscreens on my face now.

It may be good to check the different types of alcohol, not all of them are drying some actually are beneficial, so if you are searching for products, it helps if you can see it on thr ingredient list. Good luck

I reside in Japan, Jbeauty is ingredients savvy not gimmicky or trendy but a bit pricey especially brand essences serum creams & cosmetics compared to Kbeauty

This was an interesting watch. ☺ I don't think that I would have any whole brands in my Donate or Trash categories, either. Individual products, absolutely. I hate sticky moisturizers and there seem to be a lot of them out there. But most brands have a toner or two that more than make up for it. The peach fragrance of Momo Puri is not a favorite of mine, though. All those products are a hard pass. I was gifted an SK-II kit by a dear friend who knew that I was into skincare, but unfortunately the essence failed to impress me. There are plenty of dupes out there now. This one just isn't worth the price tag. Anyway, relatively new sub here. Very much enjoying the content. ❤ Hit me up if you ever need a friendly Internet stranger to send you products from Japan. 😅

no thank u for reviving this trend and giving J-Beauty a platform for Western audiences!! It would be cool to see other creators do this too haha but I also feel that a video like this goes to show that there really aren't that many meh or low-quality Japanese brands to begin with

I just tried to get the answer as scoop, thank you for answer. I also want to know more about Kiku Masamune line, I only tried the pink bottle lotion and is my favorite for night time. All the line look so good for that price. You do a lot right now, don’t buy more if you don’t want. Thank you!
