Matthew was my pick because of his heart events, he started to come off more as a really shy/timid person than rude as the heart events went on which is such a vast improvment off his OG version where he wasn't just rude/standoffish he was also sexist back then. and i swear they changed some of Mollys personality/everyday chat because i did not like how she acted in the og but in this one i actually liked her a lot... maybe im just older and understand how she is now.

OG Muffy deffo comes off as more flirtatious and ostentatious in her original dialogue, so I'm noticing some of that was removed or at least dialed back in the remake.

I always give Gordy gifts when his hands or not crossed or not punching his metal :D I won’t deny, it takes a while to rise the affection meter!

One thing I really like about Muffy/Molly is how many scenes you get with her regardless of if you marry her or not that really says a lot about her, at least in Another Wonderful Life. A lot of candidates really don’t have much to say or do after the first year. But as the chapters went on I kept getting events with her, talking on the bridge, where she got her heart broken over and over again, explicitly getting cheated on by someone she really liked but they saw her as just pretty and shallow, ect, and was sad that she was getting old and still couldn’t be loved for more than a fling or arm candy for a week. I was going to marry Nami in the remake, but I genuinely feel bad for and somewhat relate to Molly, and went for her instead. I feel like her dolled up appearance is partially for her but more so because she’s doing everything she can to not only look put together but also in hopes of not being alone. Anyway she’s my favorite and I’m so happy I get the option to marry her again, since I mostly stuck with Another Wonderful Life and the best I got was Gustafa.

Rock feels to be the default bachelor because no one seems to like him. I think his parents are relieved hes leaving the house if you do marry him since he's nothing but a bum. Also yea I think they definitely either changed Lumina's age in the PS2 or it was just never mentioned outright until she became marriable. Also hnnn I wish they kept Gordy/ Cody's muscles. It wouldve been an interesting and different body type variant in the game.

Cecilia was the one I thought I’d love cause she’s so cute but she only talks about farming so I didn’t really feel a connection

I agree with your entire list! I've always loved this game, the original was actually my first Harvest Moon but I've been crazy for the franchise and Rune Factory ever since.

Nami not being SS is criminal she is best girl. She’s a challenge to get to like you but has a real personality and really opens up as you two marry

Currently in year 5 of my first playthrough (never played the OG) and I went for Lumina. It can be hard to judge age due to the aesthetics but in this version her year 1 appearance kinda gave me a fresh out of high school/just starting college vibe. Definitely glad they tried aging her a bit though, I think she's really sweet xD

I remember seeing all the marriage candidates and thought I was gonna choose Rock. Than I had my first conversation with him and he immediately went ‘ Yo! And good that you work hard I don’t wanna work at all’ and I was like , Nope not doing this going for Matthew.😂 Loved how awkward he was and slowly opened up towards me the closer we got. I personally didn’t mind him talking about Cecilia because it’s normal to have doubts when you like 2 people, not the best move to talk to one of the people you like best to talk for him to for example Vesta since she’s his sister .

Also, Matthew and Cecilia are my favorites. I don’t really find Matthew’s protectiveness over Cecilia that weird, especially since (spoilers below) Vesta is trying to arrange for her to marry someone she doesn’t even know. If my sister was pushing my best friend to marry a stranger, I’d object too! Matthew is just really awkward and really cares about his best friend.

I agree! I was married to Gustafa first, but Matthew is probably the better husband between the two. So far, he doesn't mention Cecilia in a weird way and has stayed very sweet and pleasant with max friendship. ETA: so he is definitely the better husband. His dialogue as a spouse is very sweet and feels much more genuine than Gustafa who is just always happy because he is so stoned or something lmao!! He is very protective of our child too, so it's clear that is just his personality. There are even times where he expresses worry for us overworking ourselves or getting sick. Matthew deserves S tier, no doubt.

I appreciate the milk ranking scale lol. I’d put Nami at the top, all the other girls in S, Gordy in A, Gus in B (truly, if only you could see his face more), and Matt/Rock in C. I like the withdrawn types though, it feels like I am earning their attention haha

I agree with pretty much the entire list! But honestly what annoyed me about Cecilia is that in all of the cutscenes you don’t talk to her much. Once about farming, but in all of the other ones the point is that some other guy is involved. Like Matthew being weird, and then this whole arranged marriage thing. If you don’t start out with the intend to marry her it is kind of irritating.

So, for the updated rerelease of the original that made Lumina a marriage candidate, they aged her up to 18 at the beginning, so you’re never trying to romance a 14-year-old. I’d assume they did the same for the remake, so Lumina’s almost certainly a legal adult for the whole game!

Subscribing. Played the game a ton as a kid and now I am playing it again but it is hard to find good content on the game thats not super entry level "before you play" and "general review" types. Keep it coming! Are you going to play until completion? I never beat the game myself, just started over a ton of times and doing the first couple years, now that it is remade though I will definitely finish it

I grew up playing and love these games too! I want to finish the game. I don’t think I ever have so it will be an experience for both of us.

Nami was probably my first female videogame crush (and Cliff from Friends of Mineral Town was the first male one) I'm so glad they give her a even cooler looks on this one

Gordy is a sweetie. I thought he’d just focus on his art, but he helps you out on your farm as well.

I think they did a nice job of appropriately aging Lumina. She definitely plays the part of an inexperienced 18-year-old, giving a self-conscious Popuri vibe, sort of, in that she's a bachelorette that's clearly not fully-matured but still a realistic person you could expect to find in real life. I think the part about Lumina being taught how to be a wife is uncomfortable until you remember she literally has a butler doing everything for her, HAHA. She's very much that one person who goes to college and suddenly has to learn how to do their own laundry. Of course, this could just be me being biased and seeing things through rose-colored glasses, but in the end she DOES need to learn life skills and the player character needs help in the house if they're going to be living together and raising a baby together. They can't just do everything themselves--there are cows to milk, for Christ's sake!! As a side note, I believe that the special edition originally aged her up to 17/18 when she was still in that child design of hers. I think that's awkward in its own (considering they changed nothing about her) but at least they were self-aware enough to know that giving heart events to a 14-year-old is really creepy.

I’m playing this right now! Ended up going with Matthew as he is the type of guy I’m attracted to IRL - someone who is shy and timid and can come off curt but is really super sweet and gentle, and is just awkward. Also I’m going through my own health struggles right now so I related to him a lot on that.

Personally i think gordys standoffishness is what makes him an unique character and I've seen some people upset that he's less standoffish than he originally was haha. He was never rude to you and was just a man of few words who eventually opens up to you. I remember in the ds cute version during food events he would say something like "perfect meal for a bachelor like myself" even though you couldn't marry him but that always gave me hope about him becoming an official bachelor lol.

Did something change with Matthew/Marlin or something? Because I'm trying to marry him and the only time he mentioned Ceila was when he had that dream about her turning into his sister. Whenever I talk to him, he just talks about Vesta, the weather, or whatever crop/animal product/dish I gave him.

I went for Molly just because her personality and background. I maxed all girls wanted Nami but choose her.

I like Matthew the most, he reminds me of Song Yan from "Fireworks of My Heart" tv show.

In the original i Married celia then muffy 😊. In the remake where i got to marry a man i fell in love with Rock heheh 😅😊. I first wanted to marry Gordy (think he is the hottest and coolest) but his interactions and personality while dating made me dislike him and rock was always so joyful so st the end rock stole my heart 😊

Gustafa 🌼💚 Husband forever. I hate that I like Rock tho, he’s such a douche. But since he’s the “default” bachelor he threw himself at me and I’m okay with that.

Molly has somehow vastly improved and I no longer hate her with every fiber of my being. I don't know, maybe I'm just old and more chill now 🤷‍♀️ Rock still sucks though

I feel like it's an age thing! As I got older, I understand Molly's fear of finding a partner before the (false) feeling that it was too late and likewise understand her more forward nature- she wants to know if you're a waste of time right away. And I stan a straightforward queen like Molly.

Molly and Rock are top Tier. (The rest of the guys are kinda eh, to my disappointment) Cecilia and Lumina are passable so they’re like in the same spot for me. Though I think they handled her character better here a little bit more mature while also being the younger person that is still very much coming into her own. And nami is way to hot to be acting like this 😫
