Didn't they talk about a redux on this....what would you compare it to a 1-10 scale with Lost Odyssey.

I was going to ask where MagnaCarta 2 was, but then I remembered it's actually a Korean RPG. It's a perfectly fine game, I enjoyed it enough to play it through to the end, which i rare for me these days

I was also going to bring it up. I actually really enjoy MC2, in spite of its faults... to the point where I got the full 1000 GS twice (and I still own both the NTSC and PAL versions). But yeah... Korean. It probably could have been included anyway, since it's definitely very JRPG-ish.

Dragons Dogma Dark Arisen is a Single Player Game. Your companions are called Pawns that you gather up to 3 that have different battle styles and weapons and you can give the better weapons and armor and they follow your orders. Great Game

I friggen loved lost odyssey. The story and music easy S. The short stories of Kaim's past were amazingly written, some i remember got me pretty emotional. And the characters are great too. I 100% agree that it was what FF13 should have been like

I played both, I disagree that LO is FF13 should've been. FF13 Trilogy, all of them has fantastic battle system, beautiful music, good story (even though is kinda linear on the first game) and unique art (I especially like the summon is mecha-like). Easily one of the most favorite series in FF to me because of its uniqueness, either you love it or hate it. Lost Odyssey is more like a neo-classic JRPG executed very well

I couldn't agree more about Eternal Sonata and Lost Odyssey, to this day Eternal Sonata is my favourite JRPG I've ever played, I loved the story, characters, combat system etc, brilliant game. I'm surprised you never beat Blue Dragon, I didn't particularly find the game overly hard at all.

Just found this channel and am pretty much the same mindset, love the content (been playing jrpgs 21 years, love that your knowledge matches mine). I specifically looked for this video, lol because of Lost Odyssey. In my opinion, not only is it the best jrpg on 360, not only the best FF, not only the best jrpg of all time, it is my absolute favorite game I've ever played. I've played to the end 5 times. SSS+ tier, nothing can touch it.

I can confirm Agarest War was a brutal grind fest to the point I made it to Gen 3 before stopping. What Erick fails to mention when it first came out, you could only buy the collector's edition which was really heavy on the fanservice. I had to order it online, but damn that mouse pad lasted me for years before her she blew a boob.

Damn, i can't believe you put enchanted arms above FF13 I loved the FF13/13-2 on xbox 360, completed it quiet a few times over. Enchanted arms is one of the only xbox 360 games i ever took back to the shops lol

Well it seems I struck gold with Operation Darkness. I've bought it almost 3 years ago sealed for dirt cheap and it's still sealed as I didn't know what it was and I didn't had the time to play it. I Didn't know it was that rare up until now lol.

Last Remnant and FF XIII are S-tier for me. You say you had 15 hours in LR? I just checked and i've got 110 hours in it and i only beat it once :)

Bro, The Last Remnant is one of my fave games. Beat it originally on Xbox 360 only missing the Monster Dismantler trophy, and finally Platinumed the Remaster on PS4. So much fun!

I have never been an Xbox guy, nor considered the offering made by Microsoft systems to warrant me wanting to get one for JRPGs. That said, there are several solid games on this console clearly even if some of them are also available on the Sony side. I'm still pretty happy that this system even got what it did. The final game in this list I have NEVER heard of before. Not even a little. Sounds like I am not missing much with that one.

I think last remnant was amazing, it was very unique. The battle and level system will kill you if you don't actually know how to use them though.

Great list man. I was pretty surprised at your placements because they are very very similar to mine. I"d probably put Dark Souls 1 down in D tier with Dark Souls 2. Just don't like those games. Your S and A tier are exactly like mine except I'd probably place Infinite Undiscovery in A as well.

My all-time favorite RPG on the 360 (& the reason I got one) is Lost Odyssey. *Love. That. Game.* IMO, it's better than any FF game "after" X. My 2nd favorite, which WAS exclusive to he 360 in the US, is Vesperia. My 3rd favorite is Magna Carta 2. Blue Dragon was cool, but more simplistic/generic. As far as JRPGs go, there's wasn't many more exclusive to the system. Enchanted Arms was pretty cool, but was easy for a From Software game. (Lost Odyssey 2, please).

I just started Lost Odyssey last week and Omfg this is good. Only thing I dont like is that I cant grind to gain level... But otherwise great great turn based rpg.

There is actually one good spot for grinding (the Silver Kelolons), but that's about it.

I agree with most xD Just didn't see Magna Carta 2 there 👀 Overall Tri-ace games are my favorites, and Eternal Sonata and ToV are so good... Tho, it was pretty hard to get my hands o this games jaja

Ok, but where is magna carta 2? I remember playing it on my Xbox 360 alongside Blue Dragon and Tales of Vesperia. Those were 3 games I basicly had on the system for some time😅 and now when I try to talk about it seems like noone ever heard of that game. It's even hard to find a review.

Blue Dragon is one of ,y favorite games ever. Luckily is backwards compatible which was a big reason for actually getting an Xbox one. Thing that company is gone would not mind this also being on pc

FFXIII-3, the battle system is completely different from the first two which was the main complaint of everyone who played the games. Personally I love the first one but that's just me. If you haven't played the third one, I recommend it. It's probably super cheap now too

I just can't get into most of JRPG's.....anime and little girls fighting, unrealistic fighting, goofy stories, no 1st person. With that said....I do like Operation Darkness, Lost Odyssey, Resonance of Fate, and Dragon Quest XI-S edition, as my JRPG turned based games. Of course I love Dragons Dogma. But My favorite Turned based game is American....Knights of the Old Republic. Good and Fair reviews...Love your Vid's.

With the 360 in retrospect I feel hoodwinked lol Back in the day, was about to go to uni, and I had a choice.... 360 or PS3.... Researched Exclusive JRPGs for each system and at the time 360 had both Eternal Sonata and Vesperia.... I was sold but Sonata let me down but Vesperia was amazing... However fast forward Vesperia gets a PS3 directors cut and recently a Switch PS4 port... So my reason to get a 360 has been destroyed and useless now haha People say Lost Odyssey is amazing but just never messed with the art direction... Combat looks sick tho

It gets even worse near the end, because as soon as you finally get a grasp on team attacks, you suddenly only have 2/3 characters for like 3 entire chapters and then you're underpowered again. :(

Magna Carta 2 was another really good JRPG on the Xbox 360. It was a bit of an acquired taste but I'd say a solid B tier for me.

I'd love to love Eternal Sonata but the PS3 version was ridiculously hard.

Who knew there were so many good Strategy JRPGs on 360?

The 360 had a surprisingly good selection of JRPGs. It's why I got the system long before picking up a PS3. Then a few years passed and it stopped getting any new ones, and Sony started getting them all. I guess Ninety Nine Nights isn't a JRPG? Looking it over, it seems like it has a Korean(?) director, a Japanese producer, and an American publisher. I guess that one's all over the map... Eternal Sonata's story is a little too incoherent for me o give it an S tier, but it's a brilliant game otherwise. Lost Odyssey and Nier never did anything for me. There's nothing wrong with them; they just didn't connect with me for some reason. I loved Resonance of Fate, though. It makes about as much sense as Eternal Sonata, but I still loved its Matrix style battles. I get that it's a damn weird one and hard to get into, though. Last Remnant should be z tier. That game is an abomination. It's not just the worst RPG on 360; it's the worst RPG I've ever played in my life. Every one of it's game mechanics undercuts it's own reason to exist. The only value that game has is as an object lesson of how not to make a game.

Less than a dozen actually worth playing is a good selection..? If Sony had been more competitive with the PS3, they would have destroyed the 360. The controller is literally the only thing they got right. Hell: the HDD bs, the screw up with HD-DVD, and the fact the controllers ran on removable batteries was idiotic. I had 3 because they made them so poorly, and only because I wanted a system I could play my OG Xbox games on my new TV.

I mostly agree with your ratings. However, I'll put FFXIII trilogy a little bit higher, "C" maybe even "B" tier. I really like world and story of XIII, hell even most of characters. My biggest issue is battle system, mainly that if you controlled character dies game over. Overall I'm in minority who likes XIII and dislikes VII

Tales of Vesperia was the first ever Tales of game I have seen the gameplay of which was the excellent introduction to the Tales of series for me, by that I went to watch gameplays of other Tales of games, I don't play them btw. The eternal sonata should have been its own "Sonata series". I would like a Sonata game where the main character is Mozart. I still dislike Nier series btw. I hate games where I have to grind and disgusting fanservice. So "Agars War" isn't for me. I thought that "Dark souls" wasn't an RPG because I didn't know that it had a level up system and I used to overly dislike it just because it looked so "edgy", but that was then when I was an awkward teen. I USED to hate on any violent video game just simply for being violent but the good narrative matters.

Please make 3ds and than Ds best RPG lists !!!!!!!

Awesome game...just boring cut scenes, that you can speed through.....I'd put it up their with X-com....maybe better...I have always loved and was interested in WW2 especially the Nazis occult and UFO shenanigan's ( I served 8 years for America against Sadaam and Drug lords of South America) this game has British Troops as Were-wolves being good and the Vampires being Nazis....Awesome.

Honestly the best game on the list is Dragons Dogma...followed by Lost Odyssey as 2nd and Operation Darkness as a tie for second (Nazi Occult...Wolfenstein in an x-com style).

One game that wasn’t on the list that I personally really enjoyed was Magna Carta 2. The ps2 original was probably better, but 2 was still a really enjoyable game for me personally

The ironic part is at one point the Xbox 360 had better exclusive Jrpgs than the PS3 early in the generation. I was frankly baffled that Square Enix made both The Last Remnant and Infinite Undiscovery exclusive to the system and that even Star Ocean came out first on it. I did love both Mistwalker games even Blue Dragon despite it feeling like a lifeless world when exploring much like Enchanted Arms in that regard which I have a soft for because of it being the first Jrpg on the system and the awfulness of its voice acting had its charm for me.

I dont play my Xbox's enough. Mainly Playstation, but i have played some ion this Video. BLue Dragon - I got this Game, but havent played it yet. Culdcept Saga - Played a little of this Game, but have not beaten it. What i have played though i enjoyed. Dark Souls - Never havent played. Dark Souls II - Never played Dragons Dogma - Never played Enchanted Arms - Loved this Game. Especially the Battles. Havent beaten though. Eternal Sonata - Loved the Game. Beaten twice now. Need to get the PS3 Version FF13 Trilogy - Need to play these Games Infinite Undiscovery - Played it but never beat. I got to a spot where i kept dying and had to give up for a minute. Need to go back to it. Lost Odyssey - Loved the FUCK out of this Game. Hated when it ended. Nier - Own but havent played Operation Darkness - Never beat. Got to a hard spot that i had to grind at but never got back into it since my 360 went down. Phantasy Star Universe - I was sad when they shut down the Server for this Game. I need to get Online 2. Hopefully will be the same for me. Record of Argarest - Never played...yet Record of Agarest War Zero - Own it, but havent played. Resonance of Fate - Owned, havent played Spectral Forces 3 - Owned, played for like 5 minutes. HAd to quit, and havent picked it back up yet. Star Ocean Last Hope - Own on 3 systems, havent played yet. Love Star Ocean though Tales of Vesperia - Played the Game and beat it. Loved the story and had fun with the Combat. Need to play the Remaster to enjoy it again. Last Remnant - Owned but havent played yet. Zoids Assault - Played the Game. I enjoyed what i did play, but got to a spot i could not get passed

Operation Darkness was great. It was trashed by reviewers when it came out and that scared me away from it. Its really good but that final boss made me rage quit.

Great video! I Agree Dragon Dogma was a good game but it was not for me...I could not get into the Dark Souls games. Final Fantasy 13 was a game I was not interested in at all. Eternal Sonta was fantastic!

I love you bro, I really do, and I know this is just your opinion..... but in no universe does Dark Souls- one of the greatest games ever created - one of the few games i'd consider actual art - in no universe does that beautiful triumph make C tier while nier makes S. wonderful ranking, absolutely agree with the S and A tiers. That was also the era in which composers produced masterpiece after masterpiece - Eternal Sonata, Star Ocean 4 and Infinite Undiscovery had absolute banger Sakuraba-soundtracks. And Sekitos OST on Last Remnant absolutely killed everything and is imo the wildest JRpg soundtrack of that generation - on par with Niers OST

It's just not his preference, but he can acknowledge why other people do like it. Like, it would like if someone who hated football had to rank a football game. Even if it's a great football game, you're still not going to like it.

I know some ppl hate on 13 because of how different it was, but FF 10-15 were all very different games as well, and some ppl don't like some of those, but i think they're all excellent games in their own right.. but then again, i am a FF fanboy lol.

There are things I liked more about 13-2 but 13 is still a solid game and to fully grasp the story (which is a bit confusing) u really need to play all three. After about 25-30 hours into 13 is when I really started to enjoy it and the game felt like it was opening up. Prior to that it fills pretty linear. Also on 13-3, you can pretty much ignore the time limit. I played through the game rather leisurely taking my time and doing many side quest, and my end-game time was somewhere around 75 hours, and I actually enjoyed that one quite a bit as well. FYI all three games have different battle mechanics.

Eternal sonata looks near, but it isn't on pc.

I don't think Culdcept can even be called an RPG, it's a board game style strategy game without a semblence of stats. Anyway, I've heard it sucks. I really want to play Operation Darkness, I've heard it can easily stand alongside Valkyria Chronicles and Radiant Dawn, and that's quite a herculean feat. Needless to say, like always we disagree about what "JRPG" means, but there's no denying Dark Souls is amazing. I just finished the remaster a few days ago, This time with a different build, and it's amazing how some bosses got harder, and others easier. In particular, magic makes Ornstein and Smough much easier, but Artorias made me scream out his name as if I was Velvet Crowe.

Eternal Sonata is great but not an S for me, Blue Dragon is an A for me as well as Resonance of Fate (very innovative, getting the platinum for it was HARD), Last Odyssey and Dark Souls are S (Dark Souls for the gameplay and level design alone), The Final Fantasy Trilogy are all B games for me

Operation Darkness is the right kind of SRPG for me. Couldn't get into XCOM or Fire emblem. I loved burning things to death with Cordelia!

I hate that Sony keeps bribing Square to keep their games out of their Xbox, with their exclusivity deals. I own a Xbox 360 and most Final fantasy games I want aren't on the 360, the remaster of FF10 is on the Xbox one but I don't have a Xbox one...

Pretty sure FFXIII is the real FFXIII since it's called FFXIII. I really hate when people try to claim a game in a series isn't a "real" entry just because they don't like it. Same shit with Paper Mario. People act like everything after TTYD isn't a "real" Paper Mario game even though it's quite apparent that the series trend is to not be an RPG series. If anything, 64 and TTYD are the odd ones out.

"NEW" SUIKODEN announced! A spiritual successor to Suikoden named Eiyuden Chronicle has been announced. It's being developed by Suikoden veterans including Suikoden creator Yoshitaka Murayama. It was Korean made, so maybe that's why, but Magnacarta 2 (though it rips off a lot of Grandia 2, story and characters wise) wasn't as bad or Westernized as most 360 JRPGs.

Why would you put Dark Soul 1 and 2 there? They are action games with almost no story and very light RPG elements. I don’t think that they qualify as RPG. And I think that’s also why you don’t like them ( I don’t either).

They are definitely RPGs and made in Japan so it's a JRPG

I have been watching your videos for some years now and I noticed something. You seem to only like rpgs if they're cartoony and anime style. Anything that you say "Looks western" gets "c" tier or lower. And the difficult games get low rankings too.

i don't consider dark souls a jrpg alright it was done in japan but the story and style is too european and realistic to be considered a jrpg, when someone thinks of jrpg do you think of tiredness? no the character is not governed by the laws of physics i don't think it's a bad game but only that it shouldn't be considered jrpg but a wrpg

Actually, it doesnt have the depth of western rpg like divinity original sin or pillar of eternity. Nor does it have decision making stuff like mass effect or dragon age. Its also not a arpg like diablo, its pretty much its own style of rpg.

@@ct2651 the problem is not the depth but the elements that have always been part of a jrpg, man you look at a jrpg and think how this bastard can fight with a weapon that weighs about 4 times the weight of the character does not get tired takes another ton of equipment in the inventory, then you look at dark souls and have a stamina bar are you kidding? souls like is a genre apart as well as diablo what I think is wrong for to be put in the same category of jrpg just because it was made in japan
