The Classic Kingdom minigames were Nomura's idea, because his parent wouldn't buy those kinds of games for him when he was a kid . This is from the Ultimania Interview. Q: Conversely, "Classic Kingdom", which is based on old LC (liquid crystal) games, was nostalgic to the generation [of players] who know that era. A: My idea was, because each mini-game is modeled after a short film, just like the other Disney works, one mini-game would be treated as its own world. I say "world", but there's no map, and each mini-game has only one screen [laughs]. Personally, although LC games were extremely popular when I was a child, my parents never bought any for me, so when I grew up I bought them myself, and now I own dozens of them. I wanted to make a smartphone RPG using LC game-style graphics, so a proposal was made [to use them] for something not KH-related [in the past]. That deep desire changed form and was able to take shape. If it's possible, I'd really like to make a real "Classic Kingdom"-style LC game console.

The Fruitball segment had me absolutely cackling. Genuinely every line is pure gold. "Did you ever have a sleepover or similar sort of get-together as a kid where one of the main events was everyone just sorta beating the shit out of each other for an hour?" made me laugh the hardest I have all week. I can _feel_ the chaos emanating from your description of the game. Absolutely delightful.

I loved how the KH2 manga tried to make the Struggle balls make sense outside of video game logic. As in, contestants got fitted with Velcro helmets and vests that the balls were attached to. Also, I vaguely remember Vivi dropping a yellow ball only in the cutscene where he one-shots Seifer. And to this day I’m still way too disappointed that we never got to see that color in gameplay. Actually, now that I say that, three or four player Struggle would’ve been awesome.

The multiples of 9 actually get even weirder. Whatever number you multiply 9 by, the first digit of the answer will be that initial number minus 1. 5*9=45. 5-1=4. 2*9=18. 2-1=1. 9*9=81. 9-1=8. This pattern continues up to and including 10*9. Since you know that both digits have to add up to 9, and the first digit is always one less than the initial number you multiplied, you can quickly find the answer to X*9. The first digit is X-1, the second digit is 10-X. Yes I have thought about this too much. No I'm not normal.

Dont forget the hand trick. If you do 9*3, you count your 3rd finger from the left (my left middle finger) you have 2 fingers on the left, 7 on the right, the answer is 27. Only works if you have 10 fingers though lol.

There's even more to it than that too. In mathematics, there's a thing known as the "digital root" (which just means adding all the digits of a number together, recursively), and the digital root being 9 continues even after 9x10 9x11 = 99 --> 9+9 = 18 --> 1+8 = 9 9x12 = 108 --> 1+0+8 = 9 9x13 = 117 --> 1+1+7 = 9 This pattern continues forever. The digital root of any number multiplied by 9 is always 9

The LCD style games in kh3 were most prevalent in the 90s. I got quite a few from happy meals as a kid born in 99

I know it isn't intentional on your part, but your add has some hilarious timing for me. My dad randomly ordered some shirts for me as a surprise from this online store that was having a sale. One if the funniest things in the series for me is that you can cheese the banana flan by summoning Simba, but the big one can still just nom you out of nowhere, despite being a giant lion made of fire

I had played KH2 since release when I was a kid and still go back to play it now as an adult. One of my favorite games of my childhood and im only now discovering that there were skateboard minigames in it.

Flick Rush is really easy to cheese with either of the fish Dream Eaters. They have a move called Spout that shoots a pillar of water that lasts just long enough for you to refill all your cards. So basically, use a ton of cards to make a powerful Spout, refill them, and repeat until you win.

I very much enjoyed this video! As it was getting closer to number 1 I was could not think of what it could possible be but then it slaps me in the face and the smile that was formed from shock and happiness would not go away. Great work!

as far as I'm aware, the quickslide command is actually one of those commands that shows up if you wait long enough. Kinda like how during the 1v1 against xemnas, the later you use the reaction command, the better the result.

The sound bites between rankings have got to be my favorite part in these videos, idk why it's so entertaining to hear kh clips out of context.. Also amazing video, incredibly entertaining as always. I love how much you mentioned the 'satisfaction' aspect of minigames. Like even if it's basic, the visual and audio cues make the honey-collecting games so much fun to play. Even when you're not getting the best score, the experience is entertaining enough to make you want to try again and that dramatically increases the replay value

I think the classic kingdom games were honestly implemented in Union X better. You had to get high scores in order to unlock the starlight keyblade for KH3. In Kh3 theyre just kind of there, and you only have to play them once anyways (thankfully tbh). Also good to hear the truth on command board. Its so cozy! Or perhaps i just have a stockholm syndrome love for it from 100% I want to be able to play it online with friends!

Yeah I remember grinding out the points on The Karnival Kid minigame for the Starlight keyblade and it's probably my favorite one. It got really intense when it got really fast. I think when I grinded it out was before they changed it and you had to reach a really high total score to unlock starlight. Also I checked right now and my highest score on Karnival Kid in Union X is 11,836, which is lower than I remember but it still feels pretty high

Oh man I feel so seen by Command Board getting the top spot - I never got far in my PSP copy of BBS so my real proper playthrough was when I got KH 1.5 + 2.5 ReMix on the PS4, and happened to be unemployed at the time. And my goodness I spent HOURS on the Command Board, I had the time of my life! I still think about those days when I would literally just play Command Board all day with all the different characters. I was never even a Mario Party fan so I could never really put my finger on why I loved CB so much, so I'm really glad you put it into words here haha

The way that Tigger's Giant Pot works by awarding points the sooner you hit the nut, so basically if you hit the nut as quickly as possible, you can earn up to a maximum of 10 points.

i think the g&w minigames being the classic mickey cartoons is really cute because g&w games are kinda like the video game equivalent of a classic cartoon

I want to congratulate and appreciate all the work you put on this videos. Like, some probably don't think too much about the Minigames of a particular series and when making this video you didn't take the lazy and simple way out. You did put on the work or talking about each entry, inserting your style of script and humor on each one. When you reach the Kingdom Games entry I was expecting for you just gloss over, but you actually made the effort of talking about all of them individually. I might not had grew up with LCD games, but Mr. Game & Watch had been my main since Meelee and I love how they reference so many of the classic Mickey Shorts from the 30s and I for certain am happy that you actually went ahead and talk about them. Also, You yourself converted me in to the Command board stan, I saw you play it and I thought they were cool, really wish if there were actual multiplayer in the re-releases. Honestly I wish it could be it's own game somehow. Back on topic, I want to make it clear that I appreciate a bunch the effort you make for this videos, you probably didn't thought you would reach the 1 hour mark, but you went ahead and did it and I think the result is amazing and interesting! 32:25 I'm pretty sure it's based on how far the nut has travelled, which includes the first part of the path, before it's within attack distance. When I replayed recently I jumped off the log and hit it basically as soon as I could and smashed the pot in one hit

I actually think the points are based on the sound the nut makes. When the inflection goes up it’s 1 point and when the inflection is down the points are higher

That Verum Rex 12mil points trophy evoked the most contempt and resentment towards Square and Nomura I’ve ever felt whilst playing Kingdom Hearts.

16:40 .... I hope you know that this is true for the x10 table too....... Anyways. x9 table is pretty simple when you remember that 9 is 1 less than 10. All of 9s multiples are just +10 -1. So you could also think of it like, 9x5 is 45 because 5x10 is 50 and 50-5 is 45. Also, it's true for way more multiples of 9, with the exception of 99. 108, 117, 126, 135, 144, 153, 162, 171, 180, and I guess breaks again at 189. 8 is cool because if you add up their digits you get 8 but 1 less than the last time. like 16, 1+6 = 7, 1 less than 8. 24, 2+4=6, 1 less than 7. 32, 3+2=5, 1 less than 6, etc. Math is fun :]
