Imo Jason is the saddest slasher villain. At his core he's just a scared, disabled little boy who was mocked and rejected by a cruel world that should've been kinder to him. I think he's a testament to the utter chaos that cruelty can lead to.

Him and Leatherface are pretty tragic. While Jason was bullied by others, Leatherface had been brought up as a cannibal and already suffers from a mental condition. Bubba never asked to be born into a family like that and the Sawyer family often takes advantage of his mental disabilities to do their bidding

@@StormX6 Also, especially in the original, Leatherface doesn't really seem to have any real maliciousness in him. He knows no other way of life than what he was brought up in and seems just as afraid of the protagonists as they are of him. I think back to the scene where he sits by the window and looks nervous and fidgety as hell like he's going to have a breakdown. Him and Jason are both just scared, disabled kids when you get to the bottom of it. Leatherface was someone gullible enough and with a low enough IQ to be molded into anything you want, and unfortunately he was born into a family that molded him into a monster.

I Guess But He is Still Evil At His Core in the Novel of Friday the 13th Part 6 which is canon. Jason was evil since birth he never cried as Baby or showed any emotion he did extremely well in school but his Teachers Knew Something Was Wrong With Him Which They Were Right As Child He got stung by Bee And Didn't Even Flinch Or Move He Had No Emotion As if he was detached from reality I do feel somewhat Bad For Jason But At The Same Time Jason is Still A Killer 💀

I think Jason looked his most badass in Jason Takes Manhattan.. also liked his aesthetic in The New Blood.. he looks great in Jason Lives as well.. I personally like the zombie/robotic Jason more than the Jasons that move like a normal human being, although I do like the human movements in Part 3.. it's hard not to consider Kane Hodder the best..

I've never seen Jason as jealous of Tommy. That's an interesting approach we should talk about more often.

Even though you said that you plan to do a deep dive of Friday the 13th, this honestly felt like a preview to one and I loved it. And while I've never been a massive fan, when it comes to horror characters, I've always loved Jason and Michael Myers. The silence and imposing/menacing presence they both have is what I alway found so cool about them. Though I bummed that I could never cosplay an imposing character like Jason and make it look good cause I'm pretty short lol. But regardless, I did love seeing you go through the different actors as I've never really focused on the difference between actors who played Jason but I appreciate you breaking it down. I really loved her version in the 2009 remake, somewhat for the intense performance from Nana Visitor AKA Major Kira Nerys from DS9, she's awesome when she has zero % chill ❤ Can't wait for the deep dive!

This has gotta be my list 1. Kane Hodder; it’s a no brainer as he’s introduced so many iconic Jason features and he’s been in the most movies 2. CJ Graham;he brings humor but also like this serious tone to Jason + it’s Jason’s first time being a zombie and it’s my favorite movie so I may have a bit of a bias 3. Ted White;probably the most balanced Jason of them all. Has speed but isn’t too fast and he looks fluent and not clunky like Richard Brooker. Plus, I just love the movie. 4. Derek Mears; like you said, he brings this serious act of Jason and I just love it. It’s a change of pace from being clunky or humorous and is fast and smart instead. 5. Vincente Disanti;he’s the newest interpretation of Jason and brings this cool and scary flare with him 6. Ken Kirzinger;I don’t like how stiff he is but he has his moments where he can be really cool and I don’t really like the movie 7. Tom Morga;He’s clumsy but nowhere near as clumsy as part 3 and but also less clumsy than part 2. I also just like the movie in general and think it’s underrated 8. Steve Dash; it’s a throw up between him and Richard Brooker but I’m gonna give him the slight edge as he broke many bones and had many injuries due to a faulty set/script. In fact you can see some faulty parts in the set like that time Ginny hopped out the window, you can see a wood part break under the actor and she got injured. Also for like the 10th time, he’s not as clumsy and clumsy looking as Richard Brooker 9. Richard Brooker; as you’ve probably already seen multiple times, he’s too clumsy for me and didn’t have to go through what Steve did to play the character of Jason

I have just watched Friday The 13th in Cinema as retro screening leading up to Halloween. It's still a fun slasher with some decent kills. And Kevin Bacon has an early career role in it. Funny how he is like the only actor who has since become a long lasting star who was one of my favourite icons as a child.

I fully agree with your stance on Michael vs Jason. Future projects should absolutely have his differences explored more. I want a movie or rebooted franchise that delves into his psyche more, maybe even have some genuine character growth through people learning about him and trying to reach out, something that could only work for someone like him and not Freddy, Chucky, Michael, or what have you. Mind you, it would take a LOT of work and would have to deap with a main character willing to do that. Even if it's during his zombie phase, the franchise has shown that he still possesses sentience, intelligence, and emotion. His zombie phase is not normal zombie behavior. Something that could alsp be explored. Maybe once someone successfully reaches out to him, he willingly lets himself be taken away to be helped, keeping the main character at his side for some stability. Maybe taken to the same asylum holding Michael, where both his mind and body are being studied and worked on healing. And maybe in that time, there could be a part where both he and Michael see each other as they pass in the hall and after they pass, they both turn around and stare at each other. They don't know the other, they don't do anything, but they feel something between them. Jason is gently guided away to continue to where they were going, but Michael continues to stare as he walks away, completely expressionless. Just a bit of my ideas for how I would do certain things. Jason definitely has the bulk of my ideas.

Derek Mears is honestly one of the nicest celebrities I've ever met he and his wife have been at few conventions near us and they are both wonderful! He is very charismatic and engaging with his fans, so if you get a chance to catch him I wouldn't miss out on the chance.

Nice shirt maggot mommy. Kane Hodder is my favorite portrayal, but Part II is my favorite in the series. I've always found it cool how one of the victims in Jason Takes Manhattan (the cook in the diner) was played by the same guy who would go on to replace him in Freddy vs Jason (Ken Kirzinger).

And Robert Englund was there too! A Freddy vs Jason reunion! He’s fantastic as Jason of course but I gotta agree with you and pick Kane as my favorite! The movies he’s in aren’t that great but as a performance goes, Kane can’t be beat! You were wise to be inspired by him for Somnum! Lets go baby!!! Jason high key my favorite slasher, part 6 is my favorite friday the 13th but I know kane hodder is kind of the standard actor jason fans know even though he was later in the series. Think Kane is my favorite actor because he's claimed Jason very much so publically, but my favorite on screen jasons are part 3, part 6, and the 2009 reboot Jason.

Happy Friday the 13th Kylie! I agree that Jason should have more personality than Michael Myers. Despite being more of a monster technically Jason has always felt more human than Michael. Jason also has a pretty specific backstory too. And Jason probably wouldn't fly as a character now if he was new. A physically and mentally challenged child/man who apparently saw his mother die despite being dead already?? It's a lot if you really think about it too much. I'm not saying things were "better" back then it's just crazy how times have changed in general. And his back story is super dark.

I completely agree about C.J. Graham (Part 6). His body language was fluent and natural in both the action and comedy scenes. His movements when he isnt moving around a lot or just standing still are perfect. He really has a great presence that shines through. Ted White is great, too. But really more so when he isnt moving around a lot. When you see Ted running its like, "Yeah...that's definitely a 50 year old man running around." Lol

I think that two to three jokes a series is/was the way to go. If this all gets a reboot.... I know people like Halloween, but the bone white of the hockey mask.... Forget that they both have masks. Jason is hiding behind a bone white mask that protects his face/skull, from then front. Not impervious, but it's more than Halloween. And I don't mind the humor, that's more parts 6 until... somebody tell me when to stop...

Derek Mears has always been my favorite but the remake is the only on I've seen in theaters and is also my favorite F13 so might be slight biased and nostalgic.

I'm ready for the F13 deep dive, lol 9. Ken Kerzinger (Sleepy Jason. Jason from Wish. I don't know. I may be bitter, lol) 8. Ari Lehman (Based on time only and that isn't his fault) 7. Steve Dash 6. Tom Morga 5. Richard Brooker 4. Vincente Disanti (he gets stuck in the middle because he made me jump in NHA, lol) 3. Derek Mears 2. CJ Graham (He was my first Jason and still the one with the scene in any movie that can legit creep me out on the right day. When he is in the window following the counselor as she walks out of the girls cabin...its the most stalkerish we've ever seen him and I love how its shot. God, part 6 is perfect). 1. Kane Hodder. (His movies may not have all been top notch, but Part 7 solidified him as the Jason I would be scaredest of if I saw him in the woods. He's huge. He's ugly. He's imposing. He gives life to Jason and makes him a monster. Its part 7's portrayal that will forever keep Ken Kerzinger in last place for me because THAT is the Jason I wanted to see go against Freddy. Not Temu Jason) Also, I really enjoyed the final guy in NHA and I feel if you ever rank the final people, he should be considered. Also, small fact about Friday the 13th...it is considered a sacred day for the feminine. 13 moon cycles in the year. A woman has 13 cycles in a year. It is a day considered to be full of Feminine or Goddess energy. Not too bad considering we had a female antagonist in the first film, right? I'm sure they didn't think that through but in hindsight, pretty cool.

Kane Hodder is considered the best Jason but he plays him in the worst Friday movies. 7 through to X are all pretty much dogshit. Man deserved better.
