    Honestly one of my favorite moments in fate go is in lostbelt 1 where you the MC comes to realize that he needs to genocide the lost belts and paxi who was ready to relish the look of horror on MC's face instead feels nothing but sadness. Then saves us from being shot, telling us to kill the lostbelts and don't look back because living in the lostbelts is just surviving and proper human history has the choice of truly living and enjoying life. That moment and his sacrifice for MC still hits me hard to this day.

    talking about lostbelt 4 and not commenting about the absolute king that is pepperoncino is heresy. This may be me, but the fact he hated his losbelt for the reasons he did is just golden. is complete subtext but you know he fears losing a very obvious part of his personality simply because society has treated it as a defect is just perfect. His existence gives the single best argument why this lostbelt should be pruned

    When you beat the 4th Lostbelt, the commemorative CE you get really broke my heart. Seeing Asha's full family really put into perspective how cruel Arjuna's world was. She had a mother and possibly 7 siblings... And all of them were deleted just like Vihan (her dog) and countless other citizens. It also made me a little happy though, since although it's more likely a flashback, I like to think that she finally got to see them all again in the afterlife.

  • @Ethonra

    @Ethonra

    2 жыл бұрын

    Agreed. The Lostbelt CEs hit the feels hard. LB2 ending for example. It was tragic enough learning why there are no elderly but that ending...(Seriously, I don't give this ending justice so if you don't remember it well/haven't gotten there yet and don't want spoilers, STOP READING NOW.) Gerda is told to stay indoors and go to bed and that she will never wake up again (because the world is literally moments from blinking out of existence, however she is ignorant of this) but begins to remember the Chaldea Crew and feels a painful emotion she can't even describe. She chooses to go outside in the hopes of seeing us again. But we are already long gone. Saddened, she thinks of Fou, always hopping around and this cheers her up. She decides to copy him by hopping around. She jumps into the air, and at that very moment, a warm wind blows through the village...and the girl is gone. As if carried away by the wind. Her feet never touching the ground again and COSMOS DENIAL appears on screen. I don't know how long I sat in silence and let it all sink in. I never thought a freaking gacha game would twist my heartstrings like that. And as if that wasn't enough, the LB2 CE you get afterwards. If I was more emotional, I'd probably cry right there. Maybe because I cared about the story so i paid attention to the characters and was genuinely invested but that ending was the most painful one to me. To me, the ending of LB2 is when the sorrow of what we had to do really set in. LB3 and LB4 also had sad endings but LB2 already braced me for it. Even now, my heart is hardened to the tear-jerk endings we are bound to get, LB2 got me because I wasn't expecting it to be that powerful despite knowing everyone was going to vanish. I will say also that LB4 CE was especially sad when you learn the truth of Asha's family...That's enough rambling for now.

    The one thing that I dont agree on this tier list is LB2. I REALLY like LB2 and I feel that the final package is good, expecially because it comes right after LB1. In LB1 you got the introduction for lostbelts and you face off the bitter reality that you need to destroy someone elses worls in order to restore yours, youre not the 100% good guy doing good things anymore, youre actually commiting genocide after each lostbelt. But in Russia, you get a little "boost" on your resolve to proceed, you enter the lostbelt, see that everything is fucked up, that everyone living there is miserable, living in fear of a mamoth man getting angry and nuking a city, having to hunt to avoid starvation and abandoning your elder parents since they cant hunt for themselves anymore. Finally, when you confront the final boss, Patxi gives you some confirmation bias, basically telling you that his word sucks and he ratter let it die in order for a better one to rise up. In LB2 you start up with the same thing, seeing how wrong things are on that reallity and building your confirmation bias, but this is completely crushed when you face Skadi, she is the antithesis of Ivan, shes a ruller who is only trying to maintain her world working, she is fully awere that the world is not sustainable, that this timeline is not supposed to exist and that manking will never be able to progress in it, but she cant throw them out because she feels like the lostbelt is a second chance for her to take care of them. This makes the final scene were the lostbelt vanishes even more impactfull, being one of the most memorable moments in the whole game for me

  • @christineboari131

    @christineboari131

    This. Plus, the fact that you start lostbelt 2 already knowing everyone there is doomed to die, and then seeing the effects of how characters act knowing they're befriending people who they will have to erase from existence no matter what they do. It just set such a dreary atmosphere of really making you feel like the worst person to ever live for simply wanting your friends and people to survive. For those reasons I will always appreciate lostbelt 2 despite it having a lot of duds (we basically don't care much for anybody in the village except for Gelda since we don't really interact with many people, Napoleon and Sitonai being basically non-characters, the inclusion of Dantes being really fucking weird for people like myself who didn't have a chance to play the event where he is introduced).

    I am obsessed with Agartha for how bad it is, and how much missed potential there was. A couple of friends got me into FGO and when it got around the time to do pseudo-singularities, I was constantly told to not do Agartha. So I did because I wanted to see it. Playing through it made me extremely uncomfortable but afterwards I just wish the story was more well executed/not bogged down with sexualization just for the hell of it. How I see it, Agartha was set up almost like Camelot 2.0; three territories with very different cultures and overall views on life in a constant war with each other, while we are the fourth party that has to stop all of them is really fascinating and interesting. Camelot is my favorite singularity from part 1 so this comparison made me enjoy the concept a lot. I enjoyed Penthesilea's characterization here and thought it was interesting, but most of the others were just meh to why? The biggest one being Columbus. While I do get the point of "I'm being told not to trust him, so it's not surprising when he turns on us", it would've just been better had he not been a twist villain to begin with. It's a really cool concept to have someone to work alongside that you can't fully trust but still work together for a good cause, and I feel this fact was well executed with Columbus in particular even though this is kind of present throughout Fate as a whole. Good people can still do bad things, and bad people can still do good things. Seeing Columbus develop almost through the course of its story was cool to me, but then he just had to pull out the "hohoho im eVIL you have been TRICKED i want to make CASH MONEY because i am COLUMBUS and a BAD PERSON >:)))" was just... If you strip Agartha of the sexual bits of the story and bad characters and just look at it at face value, it had a setup for something really great I feel. But it's just bogged down by things that didn't need to be there and characters that were really bland and one-note. I almost want to like Agartha for what it did, but I just can't.

  • @imatiu

    @imatiu

    2 жыл бұрын

    This kinda misses the entire point of Agartha, the whole reason Agartha is so limited and flat is because Agartha is at it's core a character study of Scheherazade. Every character is being manifested into the world according to how Scheherazade sees them, why is sexuality presented as a inherently bad thing and every relationship between men and women is presented as damaging, messed up or a matter of interest for one side to remain alive? Because that is what it was to Scheherazade. Why is every man presented as either inconsecuential or a madman full of power, lust or greed? Because that is how Scheherazade sees them. Every single thing in Agartha was Scheherazade validating her actions by highlighting every negative aspect of humanity, that is why it takes Fergus, probably one of the clearest examples of Scheherazade fears made flesh, not defying the points she is making but validating that they are perfectly rational, and that living, trully living, is all about facing those fears head on to make her part ways with the demon pillar. Yes Agartha is a mess, but that is by design because Scheherazade is a mess herself, and most people not noticing because understanding nuance seems to be a dying art is something that has irked me for a while.

    I have a soft spot for Orlean. I love stories that continues the previous story, or have characters reflect on the past and what the characters have become now. I also enjoy how the characters have more depth than they already, like how Mozart and Marie have their own communication that we players wouldn't notice until he told us, letting us know that he was prepared for the worst. It may not be much for you, but it still leaves an impression on me.

    I understand your issues with it, but Atlantis to me has already shot up to #2 to me behind Babylon. I loved every single one of the servants on your side, each one was likable and engaging. And to me the best part about Atlantis, is how generally forgettable or less liked a lot of the servants were outside of that chapter. Charlotte was an “irrelevant 1 star” same with Roberts, everyone hated Jason, Orion was always a joke teddy bear and not really anyones favorite character, and even the new servants like mandricardo’s entire stories are about feeling worthless. I loved how Atlantis took this ragtag group of otherwise forgotten or bad servants and gave them this comradery and time to shine. As well as the fact as Orion shooting down Artemis is probably one of my favorite scenes in FGO currently. And as a side note sin is probably the single most boring and disappointing chapter to me in FGO. Nothing really happens for a majority of the story, you spend half the story in the same field and town having the enemy attack you multiple times until you finally go to the prison and then the palace. Most of the characters were wasted, li shuwen is a glorified cameo, Qin liangyu seemed interesting but really didn’t get any time to go anywhere, Mordred herself didn’t really do much. The only characters that really felt like they got anything was Spartacus Rebelling gravity, and jinke’s face off with QSH, and while both scenes were great, the rest of the chapter felt like it could be removed all together. (Also lost belt 2 is underrated imo)

    I think you missed the point of the Lostbelts. They aren't just what if scenarios. They are "human condition" what ifs. LB1 was: what if humanity decided "survival of the fittest" was the best way forward, and it failed. LB2 was: what if "the little garden" was the best way forward, and it failed. LB3 was: what if "humanity didn't think about itself (Confucianism)", and it failed. LB4 was: "god knows what's best for us" and it failed. LB5 was: "let's rely on the gods for everything" and it failed. (LB4 and LB5 are kinda similar/maybe I didn't notice the nuance. If someone can better explain, it would be much appreciated). The reason why LB2 was "a story that's been done before" is because "the little garden" hypothesis is a common philosophical talking point, which all of the Lostbelts are (at least from what I have understood about them). I will agree that LB2 was pretty boring, but it wasn't just a rehashed story without purpose. It's purpose in the FGO storyline is to show that "the little garden" is not viable.

    LB4's story was less about god and more about getting rid of everything that is "evil" and what that entails. Obviously Arjuna being the one and only god was important for the mechanics of the lostbelt but we never really explore what godhood means to him and his people that much unlike with the greek pantheon in LB5.

    I know we’re basically talking about NA, but even then I’m obsessed with lostbelt 6 to the point where I decided I’d start playing on JP just to experience it, and oh boy I’m glad I did. My only major gripe with lostbelt 6 is how a certain character doesn’t play a big role when they’re made to be one of the big bads, so you can probably guess who I’m referring to. Sticking to NA, my favorite part of the story is LB1. It may not be as amazing as some other lostbelts, but it perfectly captures the feeling of confusion and wonder, and feeling lost. We were stranded without a home, only a vehicle. It felt claustrophobic and it felt like we were in a losing battle. But that’s made all the better when we somehow beat ivan the terrible with that banger OST.

    Firstly, before we begin, I do appreciate Septem not being at the bottom. It's certainly not the worst story in FGO and is likable with what is given. It's not perfect but it tells a cohesive story that makes sense. Nero is a good character and it had some fun interactions. I find it decent and I really hate how it's become hated to such a degree in the community. I'm really surprised London gets a pass for how bland it is. None of the characters are written well. It is boring. Characters come and go without much to the story. Remember Jack? She was in it but then killed off without any real connection. Guh, it's so frustrating. It's probably the worst because for how flawed some of the stories were, you could tweek them and they'd be good. London? You'd have to tear it apart and build something completely new to have any chance of a decent story. Also nice to see someone else who liked Musashi. While she does have a lot of love already, I personally think she's one of the more fun characters to have around so I wished to see her more. I do disagree with some points: Orleans: I personally found Jeanne's inner turmoil on her hate and what Jeanne Alter represents. It was rather intriguing and I think it was done rather well. I do agree that the 'berserker' servants was lackluster, and is never used again so a bit pointless, but it did lead to a sad moment where we essentially had to put down St. Martha. Mozart and Marie were a fun duo who had some interesting conversations. Marie's sacrifice and her interactions with her executioner were also a good touch. As well, Carmilla and Elizabeth's rivalry and what they mean to each other was another good point. My criticisms are minor (Carmilla and Elizabeth should have gotten more time to flesh out this, would have been better to just use evil/neutral servants to work with Jeanne Alter) but I think it still holds up well. (Also, I love Kiyohime so she's always a plus.) Lostbelt 2: Gonna really have to disagree with this one. It's still my favorite Lostbelt to date in NA. Skadi is honestly the most interesting lostbelt king. While Ivan did want the best for his people, he was asleep for a good chunk of Lostbelt and still a 'tyrant' in how he ran things. Skadi, while seemingly cruel, hates how things are going but is doing what she knows is the only way to keep things stable between humans and giants, who she both loves. The Valkyrie were excellently written. Good antagonists who also had heartfelt moments, such as two of them falling to us mid way through the Lostbelt as they realize their sister's love while their third sister cries in confusion as she watches them die. Then the final part of the lostbelt with her and Skadi was extremely sad. The fight with Sutr is still one of the most awesome things in FGO I've witnessed. I did love Brynhildr and Sigurd with what is given. Sutr's reveal was the best 'twist' in the game for me for how 'oh shit' it is and how it was hinted at. The Crypter herself was good. I did like her and found her death sad. Napoleon did help out a lot in this lostbelt. As well as having one of the best 'outings' of a servant. HIs firing his cannon at Sutr is still one of the best moments. It was just such a good story and as a norse nut, I really liked it. The little girl we bond with was charming and felt so bad to see her go. Lostbelt 3: Ehhhh, I felt it was decent but not nearly as high in my own listing as yours. Nezha was just there as was Mordred. You could cut them out and lose nothing. While things were happening, I wasn't as invested as I was in previous Lostbelts. It was 'good' but nothing in the Lostbelt stuck out to me as amazing except for Jing Ke and Spartacus. (And I know we had to fight Mothman but I felt a bit jipped when Jing Ke was killed like that.) It did do a good job to give spotlight to two lesser characters and helped make Jing one of my favorite Assassins in the game. Mothman was a nice villain. Paisen and her husband were also good. The other minor antagonists were fine but nothing to write about. It's a very 'okay' story. It also suffers from the same problem Atlantis did in where you don't really get attached to any of the locals so when they die or could die, I felt nothing really. Lostbelt 1: Eh, personally I felt Salieri was used well. Great at the end and Anastasia was pretty fine with her hatred of humanity. True it would have been good to see her 'trickster' self but still. Not a deal breaker. Lostbelt 4: I don't disagree with it perse, but I'd put it lower in the list. It doesn't do much wrong (aside from a boring villain in Arjuna Alter) but it didn't do a lot to amaze or interest me. It's a pretty middle of the road story overall. As for my own rankings: Loved: Lostbelt 2, Babylonia, Shimousa Really Enjoyed: Shinjuka, Camelot, America Enjoyed: Orleans, Okeanos, Fuyuki, Septem, Salem, Solomon, Lostbelt 1, Lostbelt 3, Lostbelt 4, Atlantis Didn't Enjoy: Agartha Hated: London I think overall FGO has great storytelling and I can forgive some of the 'lesser' examples.

    I hate that i hate shimousa. It start with my most hated trope in all gacha games a character talking about how they met you in an event that happened many years before you started playing. Followed by the duels that force you to use that most precius slot of the support character for what fell like the subpar character of musashi. When you are f2p and have the worst luck so your main party consist of paracelsus arash mash and anderson and some one else you are farming bond, this made me hate with a passion all the duels.

    While I agree that Orleans was not very interesting, it has some interesting plot points it brings up. That being the fight against oneself. By that I mean Jeanne vs Jeanne alter and how the represent two different parts of her legends, the part of who she is Vs who people think/want her to be. And Jeanne has to confront that part. Also carmilla vs Liz. Also Martha literally being evil and destroying villages which goes fully against her nature. And she does something about it. And Gilles Vs Gilles (even if saber Gilles does nothing really for the story, he at least is there and contrasts in personality with the enemy Gilles). Still not a great story as it is still a very bland plot; "Oh no, servants are crazy and attacking France. We have to stop them!" But it at least has some stuff that is often overlooked and I think it is at least better than Septum

    London did so many characters dirty, for me its especially noticeable with Hans, who goes from an absolute legend he is in CCC, to a slightly sassy exposition boy. Also LB1 is easy S tier precisely because its such a good opening for a second arc. And you perhaps forgot, but Kadoc is the main antagonist of the chapter. His arc of trying to do much more than expected of him only to fail was quite refreshing after all of the invincible super villains we got before.

    London was my first introduction to both Hans and Tamamo, and needless to say after finding out about CCC that chapter (for many other reasons) became my most hated. Also remember Zouken Matou (Zolgen Makiri)? Yup, he's in London, but so useless and forgettable that no one even mentions him, one of the three main villains of Stay Night.

    The funny thing about Kadok is that unlike any other Cripter, at least up to Atlantis, he actually is a danger to the MC with a well executed and smart plan. Ophelia was too busy dealing with all her issues and did almost nothing against Chaldea, and what she did was due to the promting of others. Paisen was completely useless as a Master and was too busy with her husbando after that to be an issue. Pepe lost control of the situation early on and was on the backfoot the entire Lostbelt. Meanwhile Kadok not only had a plan to deal with Ivan, he had a backup plan in case the original plan didn't work and he also had a plan to deal with Ritsuka if Ritsuka against all odds survived till the end. On top of that he had a final plan to ensure Anastacia won in the worst case scenario even at the cost of his own life. It took a Lot of things going against his plans, including; a local giving his life for Ritsuka to snap him out of his funk, a Servant sacrificing himself to give Ritsuka a fighting chance against Ivan and his own Servant chossing his life instead of her victory. And Kadok didn't give up until the end, for being the weakest Cripter he put one hell of a fight.

    I think this is a fair list, although I think Atlantis and LB1 should be higher. My list would be something like: Loved: Atlantis, LB1, Camelot and LB4 Really enjoyed: Salem, Babylonia, Okeanos, Shimousa. Enjoyed: LB3, Shinjuku, LB2 and America. Didn't enjoy: Orleans and Agartha. Hate: Septem and London Atlantis was my best reading so far. I really felt a great urgency there and I liked that they didn't underestimate Chaldea, they attacked with everything. The scene with Orion and Artemis was soooo beautiful and the reaching in Olympus was very thrilling. LB1 was a great introduction to the Lostbelts. I liked the things they covered in it and I sympathized with most of the characters. But I also agree that Anastasia was lack something "more". I could've put Shimousa more higher, but I really don't liked the characters there to much. And the early was to boring. But in middle-end gets a lot better!

    I actually agree with Agartha and such but I don’t really agree with your opinions on SIN or Gotterdamerung at all. SIN just felt kinda rushed to me and such so therefore we didn’t get to see enough of the characters. LB2 was kinda boring but I did think that the characters had more exposition here. I actually enjoyed all the characters in LB2 whereas in LB3 it was mainly just the crypter and her two servants as well as Qin Liangyu and Qin Shi Huang. Out of the new playable servants at least. As for LB1, I honestly disagree with your opinion on Anastasia since she made this whole Lostbelt a lot more interesting and her not liking humanity and wanting to bring back the Romanov dynasty with Kadoc actually was my favorite part about it! Salieri was also an interesting character overall with awesome character development, Atalante’s motives made sense, and Avicebron’s redemption arc was one of the best! And Patxi as a character overall was also amazing and made tons of sense! I honestly felt conflicted about destroying the Lostbelt and it was mainly because of him being able to survive again. That was, until he told us to destroy the Lostbelt, but there were some people in the Lostbelt who didn’t deserve it 😔 As for the Lostbelt 5 I pretty much agree. I do think the main characters/ heroes were likable but the enemies most likely won’t be as interesting until Olympus. I do agree with LB4 honestly except for your opinions on Arjuna alter!

    Honestly, I kinda agree on London being one of the worst, to the point where I wound up skipping most of the cutscenes because *nothing was fucking happening,* but I'd say Septem is in a similar place to it, if not even worse. Because throughout that entire chapter, I was constantly thinking, "What's the point?" And once I was done, I was just like, "Wait, what? When'd we get here?" That's why so many players, myself included, hate Septem. It's just... *pointless.* Maybe the character interactions are nice, but it never feels like there's a purpose to anything that happens. The best description I've seen of Septem is that it's "the most nothing chapter FGO has ever produced." The only memorable moment is taking revenge on Lev, who's the only decent antagonist in the whole chapter. The whole thing just felt like an excuse to shill Nero, who feels super shallow in FGO, to the point where I was genuinely shocked to find that she was actually a *really good character* in Extra. FGO just turns her narcissm up to eleven, which makes her way less compelling in my eyes. Also, making Boudica side with Nero, y'know, the one who she blames for *the murder and rape of her children,* makes absolutely no sense at all.

I like how all the characters were written and the final battle being essentially a chess match between Odysseus and Jason was enjoyable to witness. My only real negatives were not getting to fight Odysseus (He should have released him instead of Europa on LB5's second banner) and not seeing more of the small scale war between the Lostbelt and the small army of Pan Human History Servants you hear about so much during the story. I know you weren't there, but it would be cool to see some scenes in Holograms like you see Kintoki and Medea Lily. Overall, great Lostbelt. Really hope Atlantis and Olympus gets animated at some point.

    Things I want to say and that's just my experiences with fate. Idk I like hearing how you did everything with Mash and Cu alter where I want to share some of mine stories too with some chapters. As dull as the Orleans chapter is as you pointed out, for me it was great for me starting out. It was the part of the game where I wanted to get good, and that was because my low level Andersen was the last one in battle with the part where you fight Lancelot and Sanson. He got me through that fight, by destroying them, and after that I learned how to play the game. So the chapter was my turning point in some cases and for that it has a guilty pleasure place in my heart. Also when I was getting into fate, and knew very little about history at the time, (My school kinda sucked. It kept only teaching me American history and nothing else.) The one character I kept going to the wiki was Marie Antoinette, and when fgo finally came to NA she was my first 4 star servant next to Siegfried. I didn't know about Siegfried either at the time, but since they where both summoned like that I called him, "Marie's knight". Now I know about the both of them and even Andersen's history, and that was just me loving the characters in fate and wanting to know there real origins. Last one I want to talk about is Shinjuku. For me my all time favorite chapter. Mostly because of these reasons. My friend who got me into fate wanted me to play on JP, and when that happened she got me one of those JP account you pay for, and Shinjuku came out soon after I believe a Okita banner? It's been awhile so I can't recall too well. So when I got it my phone it could not really run it too well, but I still wanted to do the banner, with the SQ it had on it, cause I wanted both the old man and Assassin. I got only the old man in the banner, and found out later by that same friend of his real name being Moriarty. He was also another person I had no idea about. But I liked him a lot, and he was my favorite archer at that time. But then after the update I couldn't run it anymore and gave the code and everything back to my friend, due to it. I thank them for giving me a chance to play the game, and I told them I will wait til it comes out in NA one day. Then it happened. FGO was coming to NA, and I played it day one with only a bit of contact of that chapter so everything was new to me. And because of it my headcanon is, that if I was a master, then I was just in the Shinjuku ark, died, and came back to start from the first singularity with the knowledge of a little of what was to come. On a side note I did get Moriarty again and the assassin, Yan Qing. Yan Qing is my favorite Assassin, and it seems because of him, Billy, Rider Kintoki, and Tristian my favorite servants might all be quick based. As well as learn about Moriarty in the end, and got into the Sherlock fgo rabbit hole, that connects to Jekyll knowing Sherlock and Hyde being made with the funding connected to Moriarty as well, and I really do hope they do a chapter or event with those 4 characters one day. Last thing as a now fate fan about Jinako character. I like her and don't have a single problem with her, well besides what she said about Andersen, to Karna early on in fate CCC game, but I can ignore it. No the thing that I am shocked people say they hate her in this game baffles me? Why are we talking about hating her, when there is a bigger issue at hand? They made her chest smaller in the servant art to her chest was in fate CCC. Now that is a real crime. XD

    Honestly I’m more worried about the “split into multiple parts” stuff we’re starting to reach rather than looking forward to it. My biggest complaint about FGO is how almost EVERY single story chapter has at least one slog in it, and FREQUENTLY drags out filler scenes and repeats dialogue to pad read time. I’m afraid of how much more “generous” they are with filler when they had the foreknowledge they were making 1-2 more parts. Like, at the expense of actually resolving the story they’re trying to tell.

    Wait Septem isn’t your worst! I mean I find Scheherazade’s psychology pretty understandable, a woman with PTSD, struggling in life to survive an existence that can end at any moment from a bored mad Kings whim, terrified of being brought back to life repeatedly and violently murdered, in ritualistic cult royale’s! As for London, I like it well enough, I’d say yeah it’s pretty standard fair, where as I found America an absolute mess but hey it’s fun, both low tier but not worst awful! However Salem and Scandinavia are among my favorite Singularities, and Agartha I’d put dead in the middle to upper middle! I will say you make a compelling case for Sin though, that was for me the weakest Lostbelt so far, since we didn’t connect much with the people there, and I struggle with Mothman’s Logic for turning paranoid on us!

    One other singularity I would submit for consideration as a lostbelt story is Camelot. Or rather half a lostbelt. The Camelot story structure faces near identical plotlines and developmental rules in its own original way. The lostbelt kings are usually divine beings, or in Ivan's case as a demi-human with divine privilege, with absolute rule over their domain in an extent of a what if scenario. They set ridiculous rules as part of their authority, of which they may choose to enforce personally or by the ones they delegate to the task, often with a gift of more powers from their king. Some of our first encounters with those individuals are because they actually saw us for the threat we represent to their King's ideal and were simply going to deal with us. There's also a "guy from Chaldea" who helps us, Da Vinci with an awesome car, Sherlock figuring things out for us, us being told to not trust or pass on critical info because there's elements in Chaldea who are we are unsure of for some reason, the fight against the King, recruitment of allies that serve an ultra specific purpose that end up dying over it, an ally that might wheel on us for being bad, a recruitment of bigger better ally that brings the enemy pain but only as a diversion, an enemy that is an outcast but it's still somehow against us, an enemy turned Ally who's a traitor by they're own nature, an ally that we help realize they are better than what they credit themselves for, ...and the elimination of a certain " sentient towering threat". All of this is the basic recipe for a lost belt plotline. King Artoria succumbed to possession of some goddess person/thing and became a divine revenant due to the failure of her attendant, Buddy-vere, who is sad and just wants friends. She became woke and started to impress her woke tweet laws on the rest of the land. The wokeness provided her with enough power to not need a Grail because the Grail is cringe, and gave it to her cringe enemy, Ozzy so he might not ever be not cringe. She decided she may allow certain people on her cool people list to survive calamity if they simp for her, with her most trusted knight Gawain checking these would be cool person's to see if they own one of her nft's, and to tell them if they found evidence of right click, to put them in the forever box. Mordred comes after us despite being actually but not really our enemy, Arash did the thing, we scored a cute monk, a cute poison kitty, and a dude with semi unreasonable amounts of rice. We come up with an awful plan that shouldn't work and we get gramps to play decoy while we get Ozzy to play kamikaze kingdom with his servant who kept attacking us no matter how many times we were nice to her. We successfully invade because we're experts at it because we've done it 6 times before. And now more seriously speaking, the confrontation with the king here is precisely the reason this is a lost belt. Rhongomyniad the divine spear, in fate lore specifically, is the "tower on both sides of the world" which is also a sentient being propping up this version of human history, much like certain trees we encountered, whom also fight back. Upon confronting this one while wearing her Artoria cosplay/stolen meat suit, the world literally whited out, leaving us to battle the goddess and purify her. The white out we observe is literally us witnessing the what if scenario being pruned away by history, by watching it happen from inside the singularity. All the people we saved then were all technically annihilated in that white out because the world only rewarded lawful people for their good deeds and everyone else doing them can only be doing them is still unlawful, therefore evil. In essence, a world where only good things and good people exist cannot be judged as good because goodness is only determined by comparison, and therefore that history was a living paradox.

    For me the weakest lostbelt was actually the Indian lostbelt. I was so hyped for Arjuna Alter and was let down by seeing that he was just a cold god that erases every anything he wants. Jinako shined AT THE END when she pulled through with the plan. Karna being a hero was nice to see and the idea of giving him infinite guts to simulate him training for years was my personal highlight. Nemo's name reveal and Lakshibai were meh to me and one of my biggest reason why I don't like this lostbelt was the final Arjuna fight with the forced support, that shit was sooo hard, even with command seals I struggled

    I agree with you on most of the points you've made but I think you glanced over some points. One of them is not mentioning the absolute chad that is Pepe in lb4, breaking the player's expectations of how a crypter should act and just being overall very likable despite being an antagonist. Imo the big mention that you missed in lostbelt 1 is Kadoc. This might be a bit too much hindsight (seeing as he shows up all over the place after) but he was honestly one of the more well done parts of lb1. Out of all the crypers so far he's the best at being a foil to the protagonist, and watching him deal with his lack of confidence in himself throughout the chapter kept the villain parts more interesting. But again this could be hindsight from traum speaking, I should probably go re-read lb1 at some point. Also can't wait to see your opinions of olympus, heian-kyo, avalon, tunguska (?) and traum!

    Hmm, if I were to break it down into the same tiers as yours: Hated: London Disliked: Septem, Agartha Liked: Orleans, Okeanos, America, Fuyuki Loved: Shinjuku, Shimousa, Salem, LB1, LB2, LB3, LB4, Camelot Favourite: Solomon, LB5, Babylonia Idk if my bar for quality is just low or whether I just like FGO a lot, but I don't really have any glaring flaws with any stories except the bottom three. Also I put Solomon so high because it was the first piece of media to make me openly sob, so it kinda holds a special place in my heart.

    If I were making a personal list I'd probably bump a few up a rank and a few down a rank (for some reason I mildly enjoyed Orleans but disliked Septum) but I found myself surprisingly in agreement with most of your list. Especially your top and bottom. Babylonia really was an incredible story and London can just sit there in the corner as far as I'm concerned

    Doesn’t Ritsuka have like the highest level of poison resistance, it was talked about in Camelot with Serenity, and they just throw that out and go oh yeah you’re poisoned now, but wait don’t I have poison resist, shhhhh you don’t remember that, like wtf

    I think they said something about it being an ancient poison so they could do nothing about it but I'll concede that that is a huge flaw in the story

    Bit late to the conversation but Ritsuka's poison resistance was an active plot point during S.I.N. it just so happens that the poison is so intense due to the nature of the Fusang tree that it only hits him like a cold at first. Not to mention your own comment uses the word "resistance" which definitely not the same as immunity

    I absolutely loved LB2. I think skadi was a fantastic character where she wasn't evil in the slightest, but she wasn't morally good either. she just wants to love all her subjects. I think napoleon having the impact on Ophellia which causes her change, and his sacrifice solidifying that change was great. the sigurd/Bryn subplot was interesting as well because it causes a change in the Valkyries and makes them into the servants we summon. my only complaint with it is that sitonai just kinda pops up, gets us an exposition dump from Dantes then disappears. I will say my favourite chapter is a toss up between shinjuku (I love mystery stuff and the alters) or salem (witchcraft trials are so interesting and since i studied witchcraft trials a few years ago some of the names I could recall and their characterisation was spot on)

    For me personally, Babylonia had every aspect of the singularities combined and executed well. You get to live in Uruk growing a more personal connection with the people there. Caster gil has always been the more tolerable and arguably more liked gil since he isn't a pompous ass that only cares for himself. The other servants were involved enough for us to care when they eventually die since we worked with them when casgil had us run errands before we did the saving. The antagonists (three goddesses alliance, tiamat, enkidu) aren't kn LB kings level of great but definitely still fine. Having some fan favorite servants make a comeback (king hassan and merlin) is p welcome too, especially merlin who had an active part in the story. Great music, great cutscenes, all around a complete story to tell that can stand on its own.

    My own personal list of the all the stories I have read through in FGO NA: The GOAT Section: (stories so compiling or memorable that I always think warmly and fondly on) LB5 Part 1: (Literally the best story I've EVER read regardless of media. The moments with our allies and the real urgency of everything is just perfect. That scene of Orion was spoiled for me via youtube thumbnails BUT HOLY FUCK, did that moment not suck! IT WAS SO FUCKING GOREGOUS!!) LB3: (God... LB3. What a lostbelt. Akuta firmly sits on the chair of best Crypter. Akuta is my favorite of the crypters and QSH is just a fucking boss. That king is very very wise you know despite the warcrimes they have, they are a really cool character) Shimousa: (This singularity is why Musashi is my favorite saber girl. It's also where Tomoe stole my heart and is also best archer girl. I just love this Epic of Remnant chapter, despite the intense challenge it gave me i still enjoy this story.) Solomon: (This is the greatest of the part 1 stories just because the emotional rollercoaster I had. It's also where the best moment gameplaywise happened. A support Merlin surviving a NP then proceeding to slay Goetia on his own XD. Which lead to me referencing Endgame's finale with Thanos realizing he was outplayed.) Camelot (The singularity that gives everyone PSTD upon saying its name. Story wise I loved it. I actually gave a shit while reading since beforehand most of them i was like "neat." or "man this is interesting or just really cool". I now completely respect the shit out of my men Arash and Bedivere. which fun fact, Bedi gets the star trait because of his deeds in Camelot which allows him to IGNORE gil's special damage against servants.) The I Love Section: (Stories that were fun to read through but fall a LITTLE short in some parts but I still really love the story overall) LB4: (Great ride throughout. However... it got pretty slow in alot of areas despite all the hype moments the lostbelt had) LB2: (Ophelia is my second best Cryptor, don't @ me. Napeleon's Last Stand is just a badass moment and I loved his interactions. Sigurd and Byrn getting #CoupleGoals moments was so fucking adorable even with Byrn wanting to kill sigurd because of Lore. The valks are just adorable and really cool concepts for a character. The only bad thing I have to say is Skadi. She's just kinda there and I was disappointed since nothing was done MORE with her.) LB1: (Great lead in to what these lostbelts will be like. It also made me fall for Anastasia who is now my favorite of the Caster girls. Kadoc was pretty cool despite how originally I hated his character but now, he is a really cool character.) Shinjuku: (The only reason it's here is because Jalter, Salter and Mortiary being such great characters with a plan that was super good. Otherwise it felt like white noise to me.) Salem: (I AM HUGE FAN of Salem's History! So this gets special treatment because of my love for the Salem Witch Trials. I was not expecting to love Mata hari as much as I do right now. Seeing Abby be of a new class with A BREATHTAKINGLY scary as shit NP is just icing on the already horror movie cake!) Babylonia: (It's just amazing all the way through. Special shout outs to Ushi, Eresh, and King Hassan. They are the MVPs of this chapter. The only downfall this has is just that Ishtar was annoying since she basically does nothing for most of the journey. But seeing Ana being this wholesome girl is just adorable) The 'I liked it but...' Section (Where it was good but I didn't really like it overall due to one reason or another) Septem (Boudica being there is why its not any lower. Since mostly Septem was pretty forgettable to me) America: (Overly long and tedious fights left me bored despite the story being passable. Though Nightingale and Rama made it stomachable DESPITE LIZ STEALING THE SPOTLIGHT WAS CLEARLY MEANT FOR POOR NERO) London: (It was boring. But enjoyablely boring. It certainly is memorable to me for making me learn that Sherlock is an actual servant we can summon so there's that at least) Orleans: (I forget most of the plot and the enemy encounters. Buuuuut Kiyohime was there and despite her not getting much love anymore in the story. [Her most recent appearance was Beni enma] I still liked this. Plus the actual concept of Jeanne d'arc the pureest maiden of Orleans wanting revenge of everyone betraying her is SO FUCKING COOL!! Plus it DID give us the cute tsun that is Jalter so there's that postive) Fuyuki: (...You gotta start somewhere. While the story was kinda meh, it was still early writing so I do cut SOME slack but still I appreciate the game starting SOMEWHERE in terms of quality) Hated Section: (EASILY the worst FGO has ever made me sit through in terms of story telling) Okeanos: (VERY VERY VERY boring and forgettable. I could not tell a single good thing about this ride. I remember being so damn bored, I was wanting to skip the cutscenes because I was so checked out. It's BETTER then Agartha for one reason, Drake was there making it SOMEWHAT enjoyable ig) Agartha: (I fucking hate this story and wish it was better. It had SO MUCH potential though! I felt so uncomfortable and so badly wanted to take a show afterwards because of how badly this story made me dirty. Megalos Herc was pretty badass though, I still hate the twist villain reveal and the BLATANT sexism present and all for what? *THE TRUE VILLIAN DIDN'T WANT TO DIE AND WANTS TO SEE HERSELF REMOVED FROM THE THRONE?! ARE YOU FUCKING KIDDING ME?! THAT'S THE REASONING?! ALL THAT BLANTANT SEXIST THEMEING JUST BECAUSE OF THAT BULLSHIT REASONING?! GOD I HATE THIS STORY*)

Like nothing happened for 3/5ths of it 1/5th of it was what’s his name killing all the suspects 1/2 of 1/5 of it was abby cementing herself as the bestest daughteru and showing why we need servant (I can’t spell her name properly) Lavinia (?), and the remaining 1/2 of 1/5th was actual plot…. Still love it though, and I especially love best daughter Abby whom has the best birthday line in the game.

    London had so little impact on me I frequently forget it exists 💀💀 personally, I really wish they did something better with the Chinese lostbelt too.... Only one i dont really agree with here is LB1 being so low, though that's because it was more about Patxi then anything else and establishes the whole "you should feel bad for killing this timeline off" best cause of it. Kinda wish they did that more often since with each LB, it becomes less justifiable to feel bad if only for the sake of it. LB4 was 2nd to making me feel bad so it gets a good pass ^^ EDIT: Also Agatha fascinated me when I heard the Prisma iilya anime scriptwriter wrote it, the concept of roles being reverse where women dominated was cool but fell flat with everything being obvious references to the author's fetishes.
