I remember you blending the episodes together and as soon as I saw the chosen had done it I laughed and thought David did it first lol

Great idea David to share your ranking with us and guess what I almost completely agree with you ! Especially your top three when I first started watching the Chosen I could nt understand why they started with Mary Magdalene and the episode two now when I go back and see them I can understand where they were going with it and as you say showed great restraint before getting to episode four I agree with you they took a risk in loosing viewers and to this day I’m tempted to tell any new viewer to start with episode four ! my top picks are season two episode one sons of thunder then Come and see the Matthew and the beatitudes the reason for these is because they made me cry !

26 episodes is pretty awesome and I love the time the series is taking its time in telling the stories of the gospel. Happy New Year!

I remember watching season one maybe 3 times then I emailed the Chosen and I asked for season 2. They told me it wasn't filmed yet then I started to shared season one with all my family members and friends I told them this is good try it because it took me time to decide to whatch it 😅.

I think the main reason season 1 differs from seasons 2 and 3 is that Dallas and company were much hungrier when making season 1. When they made the first 4 episodes did they even know they would have funding to finish the season, much less the entire series? Once the future of the series was more or less assured, they had time to step back and plan the rest; including taking risks they dared not take when there was only a shoestring budget to work with. I love this series. There is so little information on most of the Disciples in the bible that we have no clear picture of their internal group dynamics. By creating plausible backstories for these people, Dallas has made them seem more real, and their interactions with Jesus showcase His humanity as well. My ONLY complaint about The Chosen, so far, is that it is going to take seven long years to reach the conclusion.

7:49 Hmm. I have yet to hear someone else mention, Simon-Gauis foreshadows Peter-Cornelius.

Yes!! When I first heard that they were blending the Shepherd with the Messengers, I said to myself... "Wait, David Tate did that already!" And I wondered if they got the idea from you. I think they should have given you some credit for that LOL!

Nice ranking! And glad I’m not the only one who felt some of the things about some of the season 3 episodes. Although for whatever reason personally seem to like season 3 episode 6 more than most. Anyways, did I also pick up right that you’re a fan of fellow Texan KZreadr Sean Talks About?

It's so strange to me how much you go on about the finale in season 1 not feeling like a finale. i remember jumping up when Simon said, "So then It's time?" and Jesus responds, "It's time!" How could that not wrap up the season perfectly. And the music hits and it shows all of them happy and ready etc. I watch this scene more than any other. Love your takes though!

I think the final few moments of the episode definitely felt like a finale (once the disciples return and "Trouble" kicks into gear), but not the episode as a whole. To me, it seemed like episode 7 wrapped up most of the plot threads of season 1, whereas episode 8 kinda jump-started/set-up season 2. I guess it's more just from a subjective watching experience, if that makes sense.

Very cool ranking, I love you sharing your thoughts. I disagree about the season 2 finale. Perhaps I like cliffhangers more or I’m more used to them and can recognize when they’re coming. (I blame Doctor Who, Sherlock, and the screenwriter Stephen Moffat who is great at writing cliffhangers and reveals) I predicted the cut to black as Jesus is ready to speak before the episode came out and I had that “Ugh! I want more right now but now I have to wait!” feeling but I was excited by it. (Or if you can’t wait to hear what He said you can go read the book 😉) I like that each season is a little different. The more revolutionary vibe as we go along in the story makes sense to me because of the build up of Jesus’ conflicts in the gospels. Some of my favorite episodes: The pilot is a very good pilot, with great set up of characters and an emotional oomf at the end. Season 1x4 got me fully on the train with this show. Season 3x7/8 blew me away with the technical cinematography elements combining with a personal story of rescue. Season 2 episode 1 is one of the very best openers to a second season of any tv series I’ve seen. The reintroduction of all the characters, the twist on the Good Samaritan parable, and that final overlapping Genesis 1 and John 1 *chef’s kiss*! I think it’s very rewatchable. I think the characters are going to hit the road together again in S4. The BTS didn’t spoil a lot but there was a lot of walking lol!

...while He went back to Nazareth for a visit. He knew in Capernaeum there would be danger to disciples by zealots and romans. It was a protective move.
