I am gonna be honest the rumbling arc is the 2nd best AOT arc by far,I hate to lie myself This is my honest opinion 1:War for paradise (no need to explain,this arc in one of the most consistent arc and the most epic stuff you will get here also what a way to end this arc) 2:Rumbling(not consistent but has million times better chapters than the ones at war for Paradis ,but at the same time boring chapters as well basically a mixed bag) 3:Return to Shiganshina 4:Marley arc 5:Uprising arc 6:Clash of the Titans 7:Trost arc 8:Female Titan arc(the problem is this arc feels a bit less intense as compared to the trost arc) 9:Fall of shiganshina 10:104 traing arc(this arc is actually really fun ,has a lot of slice of life moments that actually mkes the arcs coming after that improve 10 folds)

Return to Shiganshina (season 3 part 2) is honestly one of the best arcs in any media.

I swear Yeagerist and Alliance Fans will rank the Rumbling arc so differently

The first 2 episodes of aot are such amazing starts to a series. It’s crazy how much they packed and how impactful it was. No other series got me hooked immediately like aot

When AOT is that good, that even the worst arc is still intriguing.

I'm glad I'm not the only one who enjoyed the Rumbling Arc, it had lots of great action, great climaxes and overall good character conclusions

I hate that people dislike the rumbling arc It's so tragic I love it😔

Just compare dialogues fighting and strategy in that arc to the previous arcs. Not to talk about the plot armor when they fought jaegerists. Too many stupid things and lazy writing

It was more rushed than previous arcs but the ideas that were honestly amazing. It deserved more time to breathe so that it could reach its full potential. Hopefully, the anime fleshes his ideas out more. I'm with you tho, I loved it

this arc Literally turns into a generic action shounem with several ridiculous plot holes and the worst written characters I've ever seen in my life, this arc is tragic because it destroys all the incredible story that was being built from the first episode to the beginning of the fourth season.

@@asian_boi691 to be fair the rumbling arc was good up until chapter 131 But chapters 124 to 130 have alot of inconsistencies and people acting out of character and alot of plot inconvience it only was easily noticeable because of chapters 132 to 139 (since they double down on said inconsistencies instead of fleshing them out or outright deny them a big example of that is floch literally telling the alliance how wrong their actions are and them just saying "yes you are right but we don't care since the plot wants a big fight as a conclusion where we someway somehow manage to beat hundreds of titans")

Is he stopped? Does his friends live? It's up to the moral value of the reader That would've been so much better than the corner he wrote himself into

121 and 131 are my fav chapters ❤️

I was anime only until season 4 part 1 (so I actually got to see the last few chapters drop, which was REALLY COOL) and after the years long wait between seasons 1 and 2, Reiner's betrayal really floored me. I really liked him in season 1, even though he didn't do anything super major (at least it seemed) I thought that he would end up being a more minor character all the way through. The way they took his character though Im a big fan of.

I guess I don’t divide aot into arcs it just feels like one complete storyl the only thing that feels seperate to me is the start of season 4

My List: 10: 104 training arc (loved it but not a lot happened) 9: Fall of shiganshina (amazing as an intro to the series but pretty short) 8: Female Titan Arc (amazing aswell but compared to the others it lands on 8th) 7: Uprising Arc (Loved almost everything about it but it felt a little too long for what it was) 6: Trost Arc (defining arc of AoT which really made the show special compared to other shounens) 5: Clash of the Titans (one of the best episodes of the show with some "filler episodes" for AoT standard, mostly in first half of the season) 4: Marley Arc (Had its great moments without any bad episodes imo and with declaration of war beeing one of the best action episodes) 3: Rumbling (enjoyed the ending more than most people but recognize some of the flaws. rest of the arc... perfect) 2: War for Paradise (what.an.arc... brilliant from action to mind blowing moments and story telling (pretty close to number 1)) 1: Return to shiganshina (Probably my favourite piece of storytelling ever in fiction, beyond perfect... zero flaws )

I never see Attack on Titan' story as or with Arcs It just feels wrong, it always felt like this is just a Incredible story with so much details and particular Events happening!!

For me Rumbling arc was the best arc for AOT. It is going to be a masterpiece.

It is, but people like to separate them cause they don’t want to associate their favorite chapters with ones they don’t like.

War for paradise arc easily the best arc in the series.

A lot of people used to love chapter 131 (personally it was my favorite before...),it gave us a trajic pov of Eren and his thought process into trying to justify the rumbling. It showed us that he knew full well how horrible the rumbling would be ethically in a way that made since for his character (i.e him realizing he was taking away the lives and dreams of not monsters but innocent people (not all obviously)). It just gave him humanity which was the last thing we needed or at least I needed to complete him as a top tier character after what we saw in the war for paradise and Marley arc. But then 139🙄😓. 139 throws all the nuance away since it's shown that he had no plan derived from him. It's revealed that non of his choices were derived from critical thought from his end...Its revealed that he had no idea why he did the rumbling. I'll say again, he had NO IDEA why he did the rumbling! It wasn't to create a path for eldia and his friends or end the cycle of hatred. Not to end the horrible cycle of parents passing on their beliefs to their children (that he and especially Zeke had experienced). No.. it was all for the sake of completing the path laid out by ymir and freeing her from her uNdYing lOve for king frietz the man who abused her that we presuming thought that Eren had freed her from. Erens agency is completely removed in the ways that mattered before (i.e the rumbling and shit) and Eren in chapter 131 and before goes from a twisted man practically hibernating and trying to come back to his naive childhood self in order to justify his horrific action that he knew were terrible but justified the ends to a puppet/plot device that was putting on a act. This is generally why people kinda hate the rumbling arc (but mainly 139). The arc was already pretty shaky but we had hope and believed in isayamas ability to write his story. We all were heavily invested in Erens character and just really hoped that at least Erens character arc would land on two feet by the end but he was instead pushed and shot in the head. We loved the story and felt betrayed after 139 because it literally destroyed attack on Titan, a story about FREEDOM. Not fatalism and the futility of our actions which it all of a sudden became about at the end which just felt irrelevant. We don't just "hate the rumbling arc because of 139" we hated the arc because of what 139 DID to this arc. A lot of us diehard fans thought critically about the story, don't assume us haters are just a bunch of airheads 😪.

That panel is missunderstood.Eren knew why he did the rumbling. He did the rumbling because he wanted to achieve freedoom (Grisha panel when he said "Eren you're free" or something like that) but Eren himself doesn't know why he has such a strong desire for freedoom.

The best arc in AOT is everything during the Female Titan arc in the forest of giant trees. Levi, Eren, and the squad. It made me realize that AOT isn't a baby normal anime, its a masterpiece of suffering, plot twists, and foreshadowings. It had no plot holes or bad moments, it was perfect.

Ight first of all bro great vid I’d love to see you make more vids like this where you go into depth about each chapter cuz this was great secondly this list was pretty valid for the most part personally I would’ve have RTS at number 1 but 2 is good as well and finally broooo you gotta have female Titan arc way higher than that rewatching her arc is just so good just how menacing she was her intro was just so cold and she was the first intelligent Titan that we interacted with as well every episode in the arc was introducing new themes and new ideas and is when the show really picked up top 3 for me

Rumbling is pretty underrated imo, well overhated is probably the better term. 139 does not negate 131 whatsoever, in fact it has a panel that makes the freedom panel even better. The last three chapters are overhated too imo, it’s a good send off for characters and their dynamics, people focus on the parts they don’t like and blow it out of proportion, which is fair, everyone is entitled to their own opinions, but it’s a bit unfair when they ignore what truly makes those chapters great. I count the rumbling arc as part of WFP. 9. Training Arc 8. Fall of Shiganshina 7. Trost 6. Female Titan 5. Uprising 4. Clash of Titans 3. Return to Shiganshina 2. Marley (interchangeable with 3) 1. WFP

No one denies the fact that the rumbling arc has some of the absolute best chapters in the manga (pretty much anything without the alliance) but it is also plagued by the series' absolute worst chapters too. So imo it averages out and lands somewhere in the middle.

For me, the Female Titan Arc is part 2 after Return to Shiganshina. You see many good characters unexpectedly die and recognize the huge strength difference between humans and titans. The fights between Eren and Annie gave me goosepumps. This arc shows what it means to be a true soldier: you need to trust you comrades and be always prepared to die.

I totally agree with you. If they didn't stretch the rumbling for that long, it would have been one of the best arcs. The final figh with all the tittans was sick tho. Funny video btw u made me laugha bunch

Best arc is Retaking Shiggy shina imo. Like that shit had me jumping up and down lmao. I also think that might’ve been the peak of Isayamas art. Worst arc idk I don’t think any of them are really bad to me probably trost or some of the later arcs. People don’t like the royal family arc but honestly the manga does it better than the anime Witt changed a lot of stuff and the lore exposition was way clearer especially Historia’s character development plus that arc really went into the grey areas and political intrigue. I’d say I didn’t really like the clash of the titans as much as others like the reveal felt stilted and Ymir just annoyed me.

@@lukefox01 I saw it and he is filling the story with head canons. The eren in 131 contradicts himself in 139. Eren's character wasn't the only prblm with the ending. The ending didnt cover all the untied ends about ymir and king fritz{it baffles me how people think ymir could be in love with king fritz and mikasa ymir parallel was non existent before that ch}. The last three chapters was also filled with plot holes stupid dialogue and so on. I suggest you watch an ending analysis video on how bad it is then.

The only thing I’d change on this list is War for paradis on 2 and return to shiganshina in 1

Personaly my two favorite arcs are the battle of titans arc and the Marley arc.

I think that the people's view on the Rumbling Arc (and especially 139 chapter) depends on their opinion about Alliance and Eren's plan. You liked the cooperation between Scouts and Marley so you liked Rumbling Arc and was neutral about the ending. Most people who don't like the ending - in my opinion - are the ones that support Floch and Rumbling.

Not necessarily The entire rumbling arc was bad no matter which side you choose ,no side gets satisfaction The only one that does is Isayama But I will have to say the rumbling arc has some of the best chapters in AOT probably in manga history Like ch 131,134 can arguably be consider as the best rubling chapters and AOT chapters of All time 134 is peak , because ,if you are alliance ,you can't complain about it ,if you are on the yeagerist side ,it proves the right If you are for anything else ,it is still enjoyable It's after 135 that it shifts more towards the alliance The alliance chapters were not build up properly ,thats why it fails miserably Isayama is not good at writing heroes and villians story like Avengers

I think this is my exact list… based.

10th: 104th Trainee Corps 9th: Fall of Shiganshina 8th: Female Titan Arc, 7th: Trost Arc, 6th: Uprising Arc, 5th: Clash of Titans 4th: Marley, seeing the 'new' eren was sick asf, how methodical he became, when fighting against marley. Just think it got a little boring towards the latter half or just anxious, waiting for the major events to come. 3rd: The Rumbling, loved how it tied the main themes of the story together and loved how eren's character ended. Main problems were the pacing and ymir. Needed more chapters to expand the dialogue between eren and armin and ymir needed more chapters to flesh her character out. 2nd: Return to Shiganshina, it just had everything 1st: War for Paradis, the fight scenes were epic, greatest plot twist, impeccable interaction between ymir and eren, and eren's transformation was hype asf

Rumbling arc has only one problem ,that is the plot armour has not been disguised properly ,and people don't die ,it feels like the ending is predictable but the main reason why the arc actually screwed up is eren's whiny nature in ch 🤡139 If Connie or annie or even another characters died it would have been the best arc of the story

IMO it's hard to rank the arcs. I'd say my favorite is the Marley arc and my top 5 eps are Two Brothers, That Day, Declaration of War, Assassins' Bullet and the upcoming "The Rumbling" episode.

8. Rumbling arc. It has really high highs, and even my favorite chapter of the entire story. Unfortunately the ending is astronomically bad enough to average out the arc as a whole to last place for me. 7. Female Titan arc. Nothing particularly stands out to me about this arc, and the pacing is a bit all over to me. It’s always the biggest slog to get through for me when going through the series another time. Not a bad arc, just doesn’t stand out to me. 6. Fall of the Walls arc (I group Fall of Shiganshina, 104th Training Corps, and Battle of Trost into one arc). A really solid start to the series. I love the very start and the very end of this arc. It’s good, just not as good as later arcs. 5. War for Paradis arc. I loved a lot about this arc. 119-122 especially are some of the greatest chapters the series has to offer. The manga was in the early stages of this arc when I became a manga reader, so this was the first arc I experienced month to month. As great as it was, it did get a little slow at times. This and Clash are just about tied for me, but WfP just barely tipped under Clash for me. 4. Clash of Titans arc. A super iconic, tight arc with a lot of great moments. This was when I started to get really invested in AoT. Nothing bad I can say about it really. 3. Uprising arc. It’s a shame it was done dirty by the anime, but I absolutely love this arc. The top three here on my list, which appeared in this story consecutively, are what I consider to be the golden age of Isayama’s writing. 2. Marley arc. This and RTS are also just about tied for me, but I think Marley dips under just a little bit. It’s just a super great arc all around. 1. Return to Shiganshina arc. This is probably my favorite arc of anything. Insane things happen one after another and it’s just so perfectly put together. Pretty much every part of it is super impactful. Sealing the wall, Eren vs Reiner, Marco’s death, Bertholdt’s transformation, the suicide charge, Armin’s sacrifice, Levi vs Zeke, Serumbowl, EVERYTHING about the basement, and the ocean? It’s pretty much the perfect arc.

Also honestly the “do it" scene is enough to put it far above uprising arc. I personally do think it easily takes the number 1 spot. I mean action, writing and detail i loved it. But i respect

For me, the rumbling has to be one of my #1's. Seeing it animated was just so horrifying and disgusting, the first 18 minutes of the first chapter in the rumbling is just terror and dread, i definitely couldn't be okay if i were one of the animators lmao

Even though all AOT arcs were real good, I believe Clash of the Titians and Return to Shiganshina to be the best arcs. They just felt like the climax’s of everything and I like all anime back in the pretimeskip eras because I don’t know why. Not saying I don’t like the War for Paridis or the Rumbling, they both would be next on the list.

Personally I think what killed the ending was all the time travel bs . It just doesn’t fit in the aot universe very gracefully

War for Paradis for me Reason:We have no idea where eeen goes,what he does ,how he did it,it was all too fast,the best part of it is the ending to the arc,Eren just became GOD,he also showed his humanity ,the 2000 year old curse etc For me i would say the WFP arc starts and ends with chapter 107-123 I have a theory of my own The Girl Ymir that eren hugged in ch 123 is eren's daughter or son depends when he becomes King,if he doesn't than historia and farmer's kun daughter can be Ymir

I agree with most of this. Trust should be higher if not replace the female arc. And return to shigonshina is the best of the best. But still I could agree with your list entirely

I would have swapped "clash of the titans" with "marley" and "return to shiganshina" with "war for paradis"

Marley is the best arc (apart from return to shiganshina)

My only issue with the rumbling arc is that we didn’t get any main character deaths despite all the carnage going on. Like you have onyankopon just chilling on the ground with titans everywhere and he’s fine

First off all there is no bad arc in aot so you can say worst to best you need to say best to best arcs of aot

Rumbling Arc isn’t even an actual arc. It’s included in War for Paradis arc.

Return to Shiganshina I am surprised that so many people in the comments admire the Rumbling arc, even though it is literally the worst arc that literally destroyed the story. This arc assassinates and retcon so many characters: Eren, Armin, Hange, Historia, Zeke, Levi, Mikasa, Connie, Jean, Annie, Grisha, Ymir (freckled), Ymir (founder), Kruger. Gave us the most boring battles in the entire series with thickest plot armor and a lot of deus ex machina moments, with a bunch of dumb moments, like outnumbered yeagerists who didn't think of shooting spears at a ship or a plane. This arc generally gave us a lot of the dumbest moments, like Floch's impossible survival, chad Mr. Leonhardt and his wonder train, Annie's Pie scene. It also gave the most terrible quotes in the series, such as "Save the world", "Genocide is bad", "Thank you for becoming a mass murderer for our sake", "I don't want that". This is an arc with the most huge lost potential of all, starting with the logical creation of an Alliance and stepping over multiple conflicts that Isayama apparently forgot, like Levi's team or Peak's participation in gassin Ragako, and ending with interesting confrontation between the Alliance and Eren, where Eren will not be turned into a god following fate, but will actually have weaknesses with which Alliance can defeat him (it was possible to use Armin's brains, which he forgot in the pre-time skip, and use a bunch of already available plot devices like, for example, the fact that Eren could not control the pure titans after activating Rumbling, since they were created by Zeke, so he could not control Falco either, and also Annie's titan could use mimicking the abilities of other titans to gain Falco's abilities, and also become immune to Eren's control and by mimicking the beast titan abilities she already had, to spread immunity to other members of the Alliance). The last arc negated all the greyness of history, making the yeagerists evil villains, and the Alliance good heroes. And most importantly, it gave a terrible Disney ending in which all the heroes survived, the families of the warriors were very successfully the only ones on the whole continent who escaped, everyone forgot Annie's and Pieck's crimes, Jean, Connie, Armin and Mikasa were not punished in any way for betraying and killing their own comrades and began a successful life as diplomats. Rumbling arc is a complete disaster and it's not because it's forced or depends on a subjective interpretation, or on who I support: the yeagerists or the Alliance. No, Rumbling arc is just a terrible arc.

The Uprising arc in the manga, is unironically my favorite arc. In the anime tho, it's my least favorite season. That's how badly they butchered it in the adaptation

Tell me one thing of the whole arc was fire 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥 and only the ending is contraversail how is it not above Marley arc Marley arc first few chapters were so boring in comparision to the rumbling while the rumbling was filled with twisted turns and intensity of high order which only failed at the end ,this ranking makes no sense
