And more importantly, Isayama didn't just kill random characters for the sake of killing them and having tragedies on both sides...each and every death has MEANING even seasons later!! Now THAT is what I call perfect storytelling.

Agree. Marco's death, Sasha's, Marcel's, and most importantly, Eren's mom's death, all of them have their own impact on the story.

That's called normal storytelling. If you go around killing characters off randomly, then either it's due to it being part of the themes of the story, it's some kind of dark humor, or it wasn't well written.

Sasha's father could have let Gabi die there and have his revenge sated, but he was strong and resisted, understanding the sad situation in Gabi's mind. Everything in this anime matters, because everything is organic because it's so well done and written and has its purpose, whether big or small. People need to stop seeing things superficially and stop to reason for a moment and notice the values and messages that are contained in audiovisual works in general.

i think one of the main reasons this show is so impressive to me is that it’s one of the few animes that doesn’t take place in japan, and not even this reality. It’s completely original but also isayama’s ability to make characters who aren’t even japanese, modern, or from this world, is incredible. especially because they’re so grounded and relatable despite this

The thing that puts it above other shows with great animation and story like FMA:B is that the show and its characters are consistently intelligent and serious. Never did I feel like the show did a random tone break with silly voices and frames just to try to force a giggle. Also the fact that the story is tightly written with very few distractions from the interesting main attractions.

the realism of AOT is a big reason I enjoy watching it. these characters look like us so it is easier to feel a sense of relatability and feel the impact of their situation on a personal level. I've read and watched AOT with many refugees of war, poverty, invasions a few former soldiers etc. from multiple countries [where I live and work they are a majority] and they've always felt the most connected to this series and felt as if they've been in their place even with the exaggerated titans and the realistic reactions and actions from government and military, and personally as a half-asian like Mikasa I can relate to her being belittled and fetishised just like her and her mother were with the black market kidnappers.

I don't truly like Anime, but AoT is one of the very very very few examples of my stance on it. It is a story that is well written and also one that people who don't enjoy Anime can enjoy. It is something that I can keep coming back to watch because of the intricate character and world design. Many animes focus on fan service and a lot of other things that frankly don't add much to character development nor story. But AoT as stated in this video is focused heavily on the world-building, character development, and expansion and enhancement of the lore that creates a fantastic story. And in ways, I personally believe it definitely surpassed other stories.

There’s a reason why some Western tv series have kinky and dumb or childish shows, and some are amazing. It’s the same with anime. I don't think this ending does that. I see many people unhappy about the Eren crying scene and I'm sure the anime will make many people change their mind about that scene if done properly. I just knew he would be responsible for his friends dying. But just because I loathed him, I was still interested in him. Post time-skip, he shows growth, has a plan & is determined to see it through. I found I could get behind him, even if I disagreed with his final solution, I understood why he felt the way he did. On rewatches/rereads, I see how the environment & narrative drags him, no matter how good he wanted to be. It makes his obsession w/ freedom so much more palpable & painful. Can someone explain to me why the manga ending disappoints so many people? Is it just because it’s not a conventionally “happy” ending? There must be something I’m missing because from what I can tell it’s beautiful and perfect.

Won't spoil anything but it's one of the worst ending in fiction i've ever read. It's not "bad" because its not "happy ending", in fact it's quite on a happier side, But it ruined a lot of the good parts of the story and rendering them meaningless, which is not what you wanna do when you're about to end your story. It's also leave a shitton more of plotholes left unexplained. I honestly refuse to believe this is the ending isayama intended, but rather some nasty corporate assholes forced a fucking ai to write the ending

@@rickyv8709 the ending goes with eren and armin talking about his motives for the rumbling. Eren explained that he is actually being controlled by ymir fritz so she can free herself from loving king fritz (you heard that shit right "ymir is in LOVE with king fritz wtf). Ymir is waiting for someone to free her from her love and that person is mikasa. This is such a fucking disgrace to eren's character from the previous chapters and it ruined everything from the marley arc up to this point. Turns out that eren's motivation isn't for the island's sake, but rather some sick romcom plot bullshit, and even if we do try to keep an open mind for this romance bs, it still makes zero fucking sense. Why would it has to be mikasa that "frees" Ymir? Oh ofc, cuz mikasa is eren's meatrider the same way ymir to king fritz shitty stockholm syndrome did. Get it? Parallels? GENIUS WRITING 101 BOIS. Smh the most irrelevant mary sue gets to be "the chosen one" Amazing writing. There is some kind of a leluoch part, basically eren did all of this genocide maniac shit to make his friends defeat him so the world would see them as "good" And they can live their lifes peacefully until they died. KEYWORDS UNTIL THEY DIED, ill explain later. However this obviously contradicts the part where eren said he was controlled by ymir and his mind is so messed up that he did the rumbling. And this shit also make zero fucking sense too anyway. Eren did the rumbling and destroyed 80% of humanity (yes he specifically said 80%). Congratulations eren, you just made the remaining 20% hated eldians even more, which is exactly what happened btw ill explained later. Also wouldn't zeke's plan would be miles better? lmaao idk man this whole shit is a fucking mess. It literally sounds like an ai wrote this. Now to the most insulting part, there is an additional chapter (139.5). Where it is shown that in the future, paradis is actually still being annihilated by the remaining outside world with their stealth bombers, and then a kid runs to a tree where ymir falls and get the titan power. LIKE HOLY SHIT THAT IS SO BAD. So everything from the 1st season, every single survey corps that died horribly, all for a sequel bait? Nice 👏👏👏. (i forgot to mention eren eradicate the titan power too, never explained how, never explained why considering it's the only paradis means of defense lmao. He also died in the end btw). There are some other jarring things that i wouldn't really call it just "small plotholes", but cosidering the absolute dumpster fire the whole picture is, i won't mention it. I personally refuse to believe this is what isayama's envisioned but rather being forced by those evil piece of shit publishers to make a sequel bait. The part where eren turns out to be controlled by ymir sounds like a cry for help or sumthing. Tbh this video will age like milk once s4 part 3 came out.

@@JCDentonmanIn the final ending at least; Eren wasn’t controlled but chose to do the rumbling. Also I think Ymir ‘loving’ Fritz was an amazing point because it shows how long lasting and traumatizing gr00ming/stolkhome syndrome is for victims. Eren intended to wipe out all of humanity; not just 80%. He was cut short; his goal was to stop Eldian hatred by getting rid of everyone else. Also it wasn’t ’sequel’ bait, isayama has no intention to continue. The ending was beautiful because it goes to show that no matter what they do or what they could have done, the cycle of hate will always continue.

As much as people hate Floch, albeit some is sarcasm. I think for his character his prejudice is justified, he was there for Erwin’s suicide charge against the enemy that his comrades are now showing mercy for. His entire world, friends, comrades were all taken away in a day from the Marlyeans. His brutal actions were questionable at best but I believe his reasons for feeling the way he does are shown very well throughout the story before becoming the guy people hate

The reason I think the character writing is so poignant is that people have realistic traits and are not punished for their choices by some higher moral authority (I.e. the author). There are heros who are fundamentally cowardly or people who are willing to sacrifice or outright slaughter others for their beliefs and are still portrayed as heroic. I really enjoy the realism of the moral ambiguity. It’s not like most typical stories where ‘I can never choose my ideals over my friends’ or ‘getting stronger will somehow solve every problem’
