    Placing the stroopwafel in B tier proves you have developed from tourists in legit Dutch residents. We do like our stroopwafels but aren't exactly as hyped about it as most tourists :)

    Can't beat a suikerbrood from a Frisian bakery. And you definetly *should* make wentelteefjes out of them! Sprinkle some cinnamon sugar on top of it paired with a scoop of vanilla or boerenjongens ice, it's phenomenal.

    I saw a pack of Stroopwafels in the impulse buy display at the Michaels craft store the other day and I've seen another brand at the art museum gift store. Aldi often has them too. They are getting popular in the U.S.

    Check the ingredients though. Even in The Netherlands, cheap stroopwafels contain little or no butter.

    I loved all of the Dutch food in the video. So also haring and drop. Americans are practically allergic to drop. My favorites would be kibbeling and erwtensoep just like you. You have great taste. ❤❤❤

    I had friends over from the US once. Predictably they loved the bread and cheese but to my amazement they shipped about 5 kilos of drop home, they absolutely loved it

    Drop is definitely the most love it or hate it candy ever. Now personally, its an easy S tier, but I've pretty much never seen someone say its a B or C tier. Always F or S/A.

    Just some thoughts I had while watching your video: The homemade erwtensoep is so much better than canned stuff! Good of you to try making it yourself! I'm Dutch but I hate the raw onions that get tossed on everything. You seem to like the stuff, so have you tried joppie sauce yet? Next time ordering kibbeling you should try remoulade sauce. It's a really nice fresh addition to the heavier fish taste.

    fun list :) i never had suikerbrood myself :/ i guess i need to try (im dutch so i should). I get Haring more than kibbeling because its just a healthier option but i love em both too. 100% agree on drop, its hard to say if its good or not because it depends what kind you get, so many options. I love watching you two discovering Dutch food and places, its inspiring and always a fun watch, thank you both.

    Here is a classic east Netherlands food, that you very likely never heard of, it's called Balkenbrij, it's basically like a kroket, except the size of a square cake! My mother learned it from her mother as its a family recipe. You can buy it premade in the eastern side of the country at local butchers but its made a little different than how my mother makes it.

    eierballen .... interesting. I never had them. A crepe is so much thinner than a pannenkoek. It took me long time to appreciate salted herring (you also have "zure haring" = pickled herring), but now I like both. you really should try "dubbel zoute drop" (double salted) it's my favorite. Drop in F? OK ... We (my wife and I) have a bag of 500 grams of drop in the car. Every week we have to buy a new one, because it's all gone. While driving we ate it all. 😁 The rest ... as we say "smaken verschillen" (tastes differ). Nice video. (swaffelen .... lol)

    Panne(n)koeken you can eat it like with baked chees. (my thing) but it depance where you buy it. Every one makes it differant. Oh..     dear Alex, i wanna introduce to you my favorite "visboer". This man knows al about where and how to buy the best haring and has always outstanding quality fish. I recommend going in may bc the haring season is starting then. its J. van Leijenhorst in Diemen. its the best haring you will ever eat!

    Erwtensoep (snert) is ook mijn favoriet! Alhoewel bruinebonensoep misschien stiekem nog wel beter is. In de categorie stamppot is Hete bliksem ook een aanrader. En natuurlijk niet Raspatat vergeten, persoonlijk vind ik heerlijk met pindasaus en mayo (oorlog)! Wel ontzettend leuk dit om zo te doen, misschien ook een keer een Amerikaanse editie?

    Hi Michelle and Alex, for Michelle: if you don't like salt haring (zoute haring), try the sour haring (zure haring ) It's sold in the supermarkt, in a jar, (with unions inside the jar that you eat with the haring), Its a totally different taste, best brand is Ouwehand. greetings from Leeuwarden, from Rene.

    Drop is an acquired taste - not for everyone. If you want to like it: try kruisdrop (it has a bit of menthol flavoring), honing drop (honey flavor) or katjes. Lidl has a nice box called zoute klippers, these are not extremely salt so will ease you into it.

    If I can do a suggestion, I am missing three pretty vital items. 1. Even though I do not live in Zeeland, the "Zeeuwse Bolus" is really a must have, especially if you like suikerbrood. 2. Oliebollen, the dutch donut. No new years even can ever be celebrated without them. 3. And of course the best after party food and national dish of "Kapsalon"

    I mostly agree with this list, except for one swap: Fries in B-tier, bitterballen in A-tier. And even though I personally don't like pancakes at all (and they would rank lower C, upper F tier), I'd still rank them B-tier, because all the toppings or extra ingredients can make up so much for the horribly bland taste of just pancakes with sugar/stroop... Btw, love the new hairstyle, Michelle!

    I think you guys did your research well. Eierbal FTW BTW. Go for the fancy (tasty but tiny) quil egg ones, or Google for the infamous 'struisvogel eierbal', made out of a massive ostrich egg by some students with the help of a local snack bar owner.

    My suggestion: try a pancake with apple slices and bacon slices. Put the butter or oil in the pan, heat it and put the bacon slices in first so they are already a little colored. Second the apple slices. And then add the pancake dough. In that dough, you have to add a little bag of 7 gramm of vanilla sugar and add some baking powder. Now bake your pancakes. Put mild dark stroop on it when you will eat them. They will trigger all your senses > umami taste by the fried crispy bacon. Sweet taste by the stroop. The sweet sour taste from the appel etc. etc. You guys will love it!

    I'm from the top of the Netherlands Delfzijl and when I was a sergeant in the army I had one of my men, who's from Den Bosch, get real Bosche bollen for my birthday to treat my group and there is no comparison. Those are the best. En hier heet het gewoon patat. Hier komt ook de Ras patat vandaan. Hebben jullie dat al is geprobeerd?

    Some more Dutch thing to try: - Bietenstamppot met stoofvlees (mash with beets and slow cooked brisket)) - Stamppot van rauwe andijvie met spekjes (mask with raw escarole and crispy bacon bits) - Gepocheerde tarbot met hollandaisesaus (Poached turbot with sauce Hollandaise) - Gerookte paling op toast (Smoked eel on toast) - Gerookte forel filet op toast met mierikswortelsaus (Smoked trout fillet on toast with horseradish sauce) - Garnalencocktail met Hollandse garnalen en whiskysaus (Shrimp cocktail with grey North Sea shrimps and whiskysauce) - Garnalenkroketten van Holtkamp met ravigottesaus (hard tot translate, google it!) - Beschuit met boter en melkchocolade vlokken (hard tot translate, google it!) - Poffertjes met poedersuiker en suikerstroop (hard tot translate, google it!) - Griesmeelpudding met rode bessensaus (hard tot translate, google it!)

    lots of nice easter snacks available now. im addicted to "Jumbo Mini cakerol met advocaat en melkchocolade" its cake but the alcohol in it gives me kinda tiramisu vibes a little. normally i hate Jumbo brand stuff lol. maybe try it out

    1) You can also eat stamppot with schnitzel or bratwurst. 2) If you haven't tried it, you should DEFINITELY try Limburgse vlaai! And since last february, it's actually a protected brand, like Gouda is for cheese.

    Hi guys, very nice video. Fyi, haring is fermented in salt. It is not raw. Did you try Rolmops, realy authentic Dutch! They come in jars. And how about bakharing or haring in tomatensaus (not the Lidl version, these are with ketchup). You will find them at the canned fish section.

    I'm not mad at that 😁 For me as a local the drop wouldn't have been that low obviously, but I do get why for you guys it is. Maybe would've deserved a D tier for the autodrop tho? 😇 Looking forward to part 2!

    I do feel that you could differentiate between different kinds of drop. I guess you can lump all of the liquorice flavored black drop together, even though there's sweet, honey, salty, hard and soft, but Autodrop is usually just gummies and very different from that. Anyways, I do get that it's and acquired taste. My favorite is the dubbelzoute drop.

    The smaller or tiny version of Bossche Bol is called Moorkop (more cop). The difference in size is probably due to religion: Den Bosch is mainly catholic, while the Moorkop was probably the protestant version (modest). Re: pannekoeken I *loved* pannekoeken as a kid. I always ate too many so I nearly always got feeling sick at the end. Fortunately, now that I'm older I can truly enjoy a limited number of pannekoeken. Personally, I believe haring is always served with little Dutch flags because it was one of the staple foods during the Dutch Golden Age. When the Prince of Orange relieved the besieged and starving city of Leiden, he brought with him haring and wittebrood. And according to the legend, the hungry Leidenaars ransacked the abandoned Spanish camp and found pots still boiling with what became our national dish: hutspot. Potatoes were unknown at the time though.

    This is so wrong. Did you check that? Een Bosschebol bevat echte chocolade en een Moorkop bevat chocolade glazuur. Een Moorkop heeft een toefje slagroom op de top waar dan een stukje fruit op ligt. Ook zit er een groot verschil in het deeg. En het verschil in grote heeft totaal niets met geloof te maken. Hoop dat het je helpt.

    Problem with drop is, i also HATE the hard ones like you mentioned. Especially salty ones. I can appreciate the salmjak ones. But one of my favorite candy in general is honingdrop (drop with honey flavouring) and indeed the winegums (drop split with gummy) are realy good. I also like trekdrop but gad not had it for a while, and ofc autodrop is very good. Conclusion: putting all drop in the same batch is doing it a massive disservice

    I'm gonna agree on Michelle's list, I like erwtensoep, but not S-tier, love me some kibbeling, but haring is equally as bad as drop. Never had an eierbal, so can't comment on that one but I assume it would be a tier below bitterballen tho, just because it looks like a big bitterbal with an egg in it.
