RANKING ALL THE SUNSCREENS I'VE TESTED IN THE LAST YEAR | BEST & WORST SPF TIER LIST

Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль

I'm ranking all the sunscreens I've tested in the last year. This tier list includes both chemical and mineral sunscreens. Do you agree with my rankings? Comment your thoughts and recommendations down below!
There has been a lot of confusion about the recent findings on carcinogenic benzene in sunscreens. I'm going to link a few of my favorite sunscreen enthusiast and doctors that have already addressed this issue here on youtube. I think they do a good job of breaking it all down and addressing concerns. Check them out!

    Thank God for you! So many black dark skin people lie about the new supergoop sheer mineral sunscreen and say that it doesn't leave a cast. One black doctor was trying to say wait 5 minutes then the cast will go away! I don't know why these doctors and youtubers are lying!

    The struggle is real finding mineral sunscreen for dark skin! The Olay Regenerist Mineral SPF 30 was a game changer for me - most transparent SPF (I see you reviewed it a couple days ago!). It seems like there are a handful of mineral sunscreens that have pretty reliable transparency for melanin-rich skin (based on reviews I have found, top of my list would be: Olay, Replenix, some Cotz, Bea) - now the struggle is finding one that has a good finish for oily skin type! If I could find a mattifying or at least satin finish and non-greasy/non-heavy formula for us oily, acne-prone black women…it would be game over! EDITED TO ADD: I tried the Cotz vanishing tinted SPF 50 face sunscreen that Benenon reviewed awhile back and I think that is more transparent than Olay Regenerist.

    My face had a strong reaction to the Versed sunscreen too. Also it wasn't smooth it had a texture that felt like sand was in it. Later on I did come across something saying that some mineral sunscreens will have a gritty texture. It's rare to find a fully mineral sunscreen that's not micronized and doesn't have a white cast. It's pretty much impossible from what I've researched. Especially when you pull up a picture of zinc oxide it looks like baking flour, pure white. So I don't know. I use color science sunscreen it absolutely does have a cast. But in the grand scheme of things it's not bad for mineral sunscreen standards.

  • @benenon

    Thanks for sharing! Color science has been on my list for a while but I'm pretty sure it will have a cast on me. How's the finish on you?

  • @HelloSun567

    @HelloSun567

    2 жыл бұрын

    Before I share the finish I'll just let you know a little bit about my skin. My complexion is a little lighter than yours and my foundation shade in Mac is nc45. I have acne prone skin and it starts to get oily by the middle of the day. Also I am a MUA. I've tried two different sunscreens from color science. The original sunforgettable and the tinted sunforgettable flex. The original would be classified as a satin finish. (On my skin type it eventually turns dewey). It would definitely leave a cast on you it leaves a slight white lavender cast on me. It eventually goes away but I just think that's due to a lot of the sunscreen rubbing off. If you were to try one I think you should try the tinted version. I picked up the last two deep shades there isn't much of a difference in the shade depth. This product is very opaque it would be classified as medium to full coverage foundation. The color is neutral and doesn't lean yellow or pink. I think going the tinted route would be your best option and even further you could get some pigment drops to adjust the tones and undertones if you wanted. I do think color science is worth it personally for myself I have worked so hard to even my skin tone and get rid of my hyperpigmentation. I spent way too much money on dermatologist visits and time and research for my hyperpigmentation to come back. So I will continue to use color science because if I get a pimple it doesn't hyperpigment when I use color science.
