Generations 3, 4, 5, 6, 7 and 8. I had a SNES system, PlayStation 1 system, Nintendo 64 system, PS2 System, Nintendo GameCube system, Game Boy Advance SP, PS3 system, PSP system, Nintendo DS system & Nintendo 3DS systems, PS4 system and Nintendo Wii and Wii U systems. I shared my gaming systems with my Family and Friends Throughout the Years. We all play Ubisoft, Marvel, DC, Nickelodeon, THQ and Capcom Video Games with them.

Gen 7. Wii and Ps3 carried my childhood and 360 I also liked

Sad that the 6th-gen would be the last console generation where the mainstream publishers/developers were more willing to fund new/experimental game concepts. Nowadays, the market is saturated with multiplayer shooters and open-world sandbox games. It’s not all bad though. We still have indie developers continuing the experimenting with new gameplay formulas.

Generation 7 was goated nothing like Xbox 360, ps3 and wii days

Being a 90's kid, the 5th and 6th generations of consoles are the most nostalgic for me, and I still play games from that era to this day. Even so, I really appreciate how the 7th and 8th generations have really defined gaming in this day and age, despite some needless complexity like downloadable content, online multiplay, and internal hard drives

@tlst94 I get where you're coming from. As much as I love the PlayStation, at this point, one must ask how long this is going to go on for? What more could they possibly achieve? And do we really need a PS6? I will say this, though: the PS5 is amazing

Putting gen 4 that low is a little rough in my opinion. It has what may be the greatest console (and console library) of all time. To have that dragged down by consoles outside of the top3 consoles of the generation is a little confounding to me. The snes is better than whole other generations imo but it’s generation is hindered by the turbo grafx? The line of thought seems off to me.

Personally, even though I didn't grow up during the 90s, I love watching videos on the whole culture of Nintendo vs. Sega. The libraries of both consoles are expansive, creative, and iconic. At least, I feel that the SNES and Genesis were more interesting than some consoles from Gen 3, Gen 5, Gen 8, and Gen 9 imo. The last two gens have felt pretty generic imo with the lack of mascots, general focus on sandbox and FPS games, and fewer experimental titles from big companies. Not to mention the fact that the last two generations have stayed on the market for quite some time. I own an Xbox One and don't seem to feel the need to buy a newer console since most of the new games are still playable on it

Generation 4 was likely my favorite, especially since it paired so well with renting games at Blockbuster to try them and THEN buy them. Generation 3 ended by the time I got into gaming, which I sometimes regret. I wasn't as active in Generation 7, since I was chest deep in college at the time, but I remember practically drooling at the prospect of getting my hands on Call of Duty 3 and Twilight Princess. Generation 8 is hard to enjoy, now that I'm working full time, but damn did I love Super Mario Odyssey.

These people actually ranked the 8th gen over the 7 gen.. freaking embarrassing.

Generation 6 was so solid in my highschool years. It's the only generation that I owned all consoles and really made me a gamer.

Gen 6 was my teenage/young adult years. My grades were slacking so bad cause I was more obsessed with gaming than actual school. Totally worth it for the memories though.

Not to mention some very memorable franchises. And this was the generation with the highest total hardware sales. PSP, DS, Wii, PS3 and Xbox 360.

Nothing can compare to Generation 6 era that is the best era of gaming, I wish Sega was still making consoles

As much as I like 6th gen, I have to admit it was the first generation to add DLC and paid online. It's still the 2nd best generation of consoles tho.

I think for me it’s certainly going to have to be generation 7 without question then Gen 6. Generation 7 felt like a huge movement for gaming. Console wars were fun everyone was so snobby about their console of choice being the best 😂. The games we got were still innovative and fun, bigger indie game presence, and of course online gaming taking off. A lot of franchises developers STILL rely on really took off in the 7th generation. So many great and different gaming memories for me in the 7th gen. I had access to every console my stepbrother had the 360 and I had the other two consoles. Come on we had Batman Arkham series, bioshock, gears, all the best COD games started 7th gen, uncharted, last of us, super stardust, twilight princess, smg, brawl, Mario kart wii(my personal favorite), mass effect, gta v, and red dead, etc. It’s only my opinion obviously, but I loved the 7th generation. Probably just nostalgia whatever

Gen 4 should be higher, Gen 3 lower.. Gen 3 was important but kind of only had the NES. The SNES/Genesis battle was epic, and there are gobs of masterpieces from that era.

I do agree on the number 1 on this list! This is just amazing!

Generation 6, as well as the everything in the 2000s as a whole, was the last best generation. Nintendo, Playstation, and Xbox stand above everyone

Gen 7 was the best…solid graphics. Great games. Online multiplayer. And games were released without so many bugs and micro transactions weren’t a thing yet

@@raihan200 I think the biggest difference between the two gens was with Nintendo, they were a lot better on the GameCube than their work on the Wii which a lot were just sequels with motion controls.

It's very interesting to see your opinion on the different generations. I'd be curious if you decided personally or if you came to a consensus and what the backgrounds was of those who decided (age, nationality, previous experience with games, etc.). Fun video idea though!

The fact that Generation 6 (PS2/Xbox/Gamecube), my childhood generation, is the considered the best generation, fills me with so much pride.

Its so amazing how fast videogames and consoles have been evolved from generation 1. Ive been always like Nintendo consoles more than others but i like playstations, xboxes arent my favourite but those are good too. My gaming history have been started from generation 7, playstation 2 and nintendo wii are my chikdhood, i have good memories when ive played ps2 games like sly cooper, ratchet and clank, crash bandicoot and with wii ive plsyed super mario galaxies, mariokart wii, donkey kong country returns, zelda games and of corse wii spkorts. When i was a kid videogames and gaming was better than what is now in my life because im an adult but today ill play generation 8 and 9 games with nintendo switch, playstation 4 and pc. Defienitily i love nintendo ssitch what is greatest console ice ever got and i still like childrens games like Super Mario, Kirby, Zelda and Pokemon. Videogames and consoles defienitily nintendo is always near of my heart. 🎮

Gen 9 and 8 should be lower. They didn’t push gaming that far, when compared to some of the previous generations. N64 and PlayStation may have been rocky, but they pushed gaming into 3D and advanced gameplay much more than gen 8 and 9

Gen 8. PS4 and Switch are still on fire.

The Switch was placed in the wrong generation, but great video! WiiU/PS4/Xb1 are last gen, Switch/PS5/SeriesX/S are the current gen.

@@zaymac117i kind of see where you went with 7th gen as number 1. That was the last generation that didn’t require online account. It also had smaller game files. It also had better graphics than gen 6 with huge improvements.

This was overall a rushed video. There were so many points that were not mentioned at all. And Switch is a Gen 9 handheld. Gameboy - Gen 4 and 5 GBA - Gen 6 DS - Gen 7 3ds - Gen 8 Switch - Gen 9

The 6th gen was the best hands down even though I loved the 4th gen and 5th gen

I'm from the 90's, so my best memories when it comes to videogames are the 5th and 6th generation consoles (Sony consoles to be more specific). And I remember the first game I ever played: Crash Bandicoot Warped on my PS1. Yeah... A really good time it was!

The TurboGrafx 16 was such an underrated, under-appreciated console.

The best generation that I grew up was when the PlayStation 2 came out I never had a Xbox or GameCube it was always the PlayStation 2 and I played jak and Daxter, dark cloud 1 and 2 Kingdom hearts, ratchet & clank, sly Cooper, God of war, gta, and some other games

I hate how I missed out on gen 6, like I didn't get into gaming until gen 7 came along because I didn't know much about the world of video games.

Generation 7 was a great era for me, especially owning the PS3 as my first console.

The sixth grn consoles werent to be slept on for fps though theyd because more popular on later gen consoles, surprisingly the sega dreamcast provided console games with keyboard and mouse play for quake 3 arena then xbox did well with two halos everyone loves on controllers (though theyd based on alien ressurection with a dual shock on psx).

Gen 7 was one of the coolest things to happen for video games.

The generation with the GameCube, PS2 and XBOX is incredible. It started Halo, Animal Crossing and Luigis Mansion, the consoles were innovative and interesting and overall its just awesome

I don't normally comment on Top 10 lists because the choices are obviously subjective but I wanted to say that just because modern games have "movie-like" graphics, doesn't necessarily make it better than earlier generations. I grew up during generations 3-4 (I was and still am a Nintendo fan) and those games were the most fun and memorable. It's not fair to base an entire generation of games on one or two bad games. Just my opinion

Hey now TurboGrafx killed it in Japan and has a ton of great games. The PC Engine library is legendary.

Gen 6 was my favorite. Genuinely fun and unique games that arent trying too hard for a hollywood aesthetic and dont make you pay extra ti get the full game. Gen 4 has a special place in my heart though, cause it feels like it was the generation where rpgs stopped being grinding and leveling focus and started having genuinely emotionally investing stories and interesting relatable characters. Like he said ff7 showed us rpgs can make you cry, id say more like ff6 at least, maybe even 4.

To me, I enjoyed a lot of the generations of games!

Ok let's get this straight. The Wii U didn't do well, but THAT was Nintendo's 8th generation console. People can say whatever they want, but the Switch is a 9th generation console. It's not measured by specs and power. It WAS the Wii U's predecessor, not an extension of it. It was all new hardware and tech. It makes no logical sense to stick it in the 8th generation.

I agree generation 6 was the best. It was the perfect balance between good games and good graphics. 7th was almost as good but I choose 6th.

For me, it’s the 8th generation. I’m more of a Nintendo Fanboy, and the Wii U was amazing. Way better than the Switch even.

Gen 7 is king.

GEN 1-2-3-4 : I was not yet born to see those gens. but i played NES and SNES games in my childhood years GEN 4 : I was just a kid back then, playing mostly Playstation 1. Tekken 3 and football games like ISS/Winning Eleven were my favourites GEN 6 : Ah Playstation 2, the golden era of gaming for me. Winning Eleven 6-7-8, Tekken 4, MK 3D Era games, God of War II... so many masterpieces GEN 7 : Playstation 3 was the peak of gaming. FIFA 13 & 14, Fight Night Champion, UFC Undisputed 3, Tekken 6, God of War III... GEN 8 : Playstation 4, this era was meh to me. i played mostly FIFA 16 to 23, UFC 2 to 4, God of War Remastered and Driveclub GEN 9 : Didnt buy PS5 yet cause modern games dont get me hyped or interested at all. maybe i will buy but only games id play would be FIFA and UFC again

The Dreamcast has this weird nostalgia attached to it that I can’t explain. The games were NOT good, and yet people loved them. That generation was probably the best though.

I’d rank current Gen #2 after gen 6 it’s blowing gen 7 and 8 out the water imo people just choose to hyper focus on the negative in the present only to look back with rose tinted glasses when the next generation starts

Gen 8 little high seeing it’s what started micro trans actions and other free premium stuff, also 3 little low seeing it brought gaming back from the brink of death, other than that great list
