I love The Long Walk. King captures building insanity so well. The Long Walk, The Shining, Pet Semetary. In all of these stories, we watch the main character go from relatively happy to madhouse bonkers. Very convincingly too.
So happy to see Dolores Claiborne, Rose Madder and Under the Dome get some love. All three are super underrated.
Wow I'm on my 52nd Stephen King book. How dare you beat me!

It should not be a number game. Especially with stories. It should be about quality. I used to have a bookshelf full of his books. Then, I kept buying books that I could never get into. I could not get past page 5 of Talisman. I could not understand Gunslinger. Maybe cuz I dislike fantasy.

Dario Wirtha Numbers games with books are all in good fun. At least for me. I can understand struggling with Gunslinger. Not his best book for sure.

Dario Wirtha I understand. I got halfway through 11/22/63 and kept trying but it got so boring after a great start. (Recently saw the excellent series with James Franko! So I know the ending would have been worth it). I think it was the Tom Gordon book that I read all but the very end because I simply did not care what happened next. (Never got that far and gave up before)

@@AllenFreemanMediaGuru it can be....but 11.22.63 is one of my favorite books
Damn, congrats on reading your 55th Stephen King book! That is pretty cool. I just started collecting Stephen King books this past year, at least physical copies. I have a bunch on Kindle but started buying physical books this past year. I'm missing about 8 books of his. I'm planning on reading all of his books. I've already read the major ones like It, The Green Mile, Pet Sematary, The Shining, Doctor Sleep and others. I read a bunch of his books in high school and then stopped when I started reading a lot of Presidential biographies and things like that. I feel like I'm coming in late to the game but oh well. Hopefully I'll be reading my 55th Stephen King book soon. The Stand is next on my list. I'm 400 pages into it. I don't know how and why I haven't read it sooner. I love it so far. Anyway, cheers!
Ive only read Shining, Doc Sleep and Im reading IT... so looks like I started on a few good ones! I look forward to reading more...
I'm hoping in the months since you did this list you've gotten around to reading 11.22.63, as this is now third behind The Stand and It in my list of top King works. Almost flawless.
1:35 Running Man kicks so much ass. Loved that story.
First video I’ve seen of yours and I highly enjoyed it! I love King and think more people in the booktube community should talk about him more! One little gripe though (I hate being that guy) but you said “axe” during your The Shining description. That’s the movie version lol; in the book, it’s a mallet :)
just finished reading 11/22/63 and its jumped up into my top 5 loved it, but IT is the number1 of course

you really need to read 11/22/63! I think it would definitely bein your top 5
I have read about 40 of his books I think. So far I actually like Wizard and Glass the best. Roland's backstory is amazing and heartbreaking. The Drawing of the Three is up there too. Hard to go too wrong with a SK novel.
IT is my all time favorite King book as well. The characters are uncanny, and extremely well written. Some of the best character relationships I’ve ever witnessed. It is just fantastic! And of course, incredibly scary.
Hey Joanie! Finished the Dark Tower 7 recently, too. I did not know about the ending at all and it completely broke me. What a fantastic, unique series!! I dove into 'The Wind through the Keyhole' right after, even though I initially planned otherwise. Love it so far. :)

Freyveley nice! I image the ending was a shock! I’m almost glad I knew, so I didn’t get broken lol. There was so much to the ending I didn’t know still, so it was a great reading experience. It is a super unique awesome series. I’m glad you’re like Wind! My tentative plan is to reread the series sometime and read that one in the middle with that round. I’m pretty excited for it, but kind of want to bask in the last book for a while.
Great list! I agree with Drawing of the Three being my favorite Dark Tower book. There’s just something about it, and it totally got me hooked on the series
Duma Key, Lisey’s Story and Hearts in Atlantis are 3 that I highly enjoyed.
"IT" is also my favorite book of all time, the characters and atmosphere is just amazing. Thanks for uploading! ✌🏽

Joey Marchesi some day for sure! I’m hoping Under the Dome is everything you’re hoping for!
excellent and very well paced review of 55 books!
'It' triggered my love for reading (a little over a year ago) and I've read 7 Stephen King books so far but it's still my favorite!
I haven't read nearly 55 books by him (congrats btw) but i also loved under the dome and wish it were more loved, i feel indifferently towards the ending but i completely agree that it was about the characters and events under the dome, it was a real page turner
great list. I like most of King's endings, even if sometimes weird etc. Rod Serling Twilight Zone stories are similar to King books which is partly why I love King. This is the 3rd time I've watched this video.
I’ve only read 22 of his books and I’m always looking at rankings to see which ones I should indulge in. Great video! Books of his you need to check out that I loved that weren’t on your list are: Desperation( I LOVE this book), Christine(killer car super fun), and Insomnia.
You’ve gotta check out Desperation, especially since you have The Regulators higher than most people do (I personally have it ranked higher as well).
The wind through the keyhole is Dark Tower book 4.5. A good interlude story with more Roland back story. You should check it out
I love the shirt! I'm surprised no one has mentioned it yet.

Glad Dolores Claiborne is getting some recognition....one of may favourite King books
It’s sad that Salem’s Lot is only at #23, I think it’s one of Stephen King’s best books and I love it with a passion
10. Salems Lot 9. Finders Keepers 8. Wizard and Glass 7. Revival 6. IT 5. Different Seasons 4. The Green Mile 3. 11/22/63 2. Liseys Story 1. Pet Sematary
Great ranking list. I started reading him and I read them in publication order.
Great list, a lot of your favorites are mine as well.

I think I've seen this video 5 times, and I will for sure come back again and again 😆
JUST got into King, and as of this post, I’ve read 18 books. This would be my ranking from top to bottom: -The Stand -Dark Tower 4: Wizard & Glass -Dark Tower 3: The Wastelands -The Institute -Dark Tower 1: The Gunslinger -Finders Keepers -Salems Lot -The Shining -Dark Tower 7: The Dark Tower -11/22/63 -The Outsider -Mr. Mercedes -Dark Tower 6: Song of Susannah -Dark Tower 2: Drawing of the Three -End of Watch -Doctor Sleep -If It Bleeds -Dark Tower 5: Wolves of the Calla
Thanks. Interesting to hear somone lese's thoughts on some of these. I haven't read anywhere near 55 King books. My personal favourites would be The Stand and Salem's Lot. I liked that you rated The Tommyknockers highly; I laways really liked it too. I would recommend reading Hearts In Atlantis, if you get time; it's probably my number 3 or 4. :-)
You and I have _almost_ diametrically opposed ways of approaching the Dark Tower books (though we agree that Drawing of the Three is the best), couldn't really disagree more with most your rankings, but hey: different opinions are awesome. Thanks for sharing Nice to see some love for Rose Madder, fantastic novel. I consider it a sister novel to Insomnia, which you should pick up some time. Again, thanks for the video.
I've currently read 51 King books, and I also did a ranking a while back, and I gotta say, it's VERY different from yours, but hey, it's great to see different opinions :D My top 10 is like this: 10. Finders Keepers 9. Salem’s Lot 8. Doctor Sleep 7. Carrie 6. Pet Sematary 5. The Stand 4. 11/22/63 3. The Green Mile 2. The Dead Zone 1. Misery Next I've got "Later" waiting for me, but gotta finish another book first. Can't wait to start on another King!

Finally someone else that love dreamcatcher, sleeping beauties, and tommyknockers. Those books are all fantastic
Hi Jo, great choices and especially your verbal delivery. I listed to another KZreadr's ranking and she was so obnoxious, I couldn't finish! You certainly read much more than I did, but I do have Mr Mercedes and Needful Things in my top three.
I have almost 40 of his books but I've only read 9 so far 😅 I gotta step up my game!! So far my absolute favourites have been IT, Lisey's Story, and Dolores Claiborne :')
My favorite is The Stand. The unabridged version, although that’s not for everyone. Most recently I’ve read The Institute. If you like character development, it’s a must-read. A really good story.
This is amazing !!! 🖤📚🖤

I’m reading the outsider at the moment. Great book so far
The Cycle of the Werewolf was meant to be a calender. Notice how the first couple of chapters all have the same length until the main character gets introduced. King was supposed to write an entire calender like the first few chapters and kept pushing it back due to lack of interest until a he finally decided to get it over with. It ended up becoming a short novel, but he didn't seem to care anymore at this point.
11.22.63 is wonderful. Even though it is so long, there wasn't one page in it I didn't enjoy.
Great list but #1 for me would be The Stand. I had a feeling IT would be #1

Well done. I may borrow this idea for one of my content uploads. My favorite King so far of the ones I've read is Revival. Second would probably be Mr. Mercedes or Duma Key.
Jo, I disagree with most of your placements, and yet the reasons you give for each are so well-considered. Thanks for sharing your perspective on King's oeuvre! I really enjoyed your video.
Desperation is so awesome! Highly reccomend!
Can’t believe you hadn’t read Christine! When will you get to it? Have you yet?
I'm so glad to see Cujo as high as it was. Personally its my favorite of his books.
No love for Hearts in Atlantis? It's personally my favourite.
I'm currently on my 18th & 19th King books (The Outsider, which I'm almost finished with, and Night Shift, which is fun to grab with limited time for a short story). If I had to pick a couple of top ones, it would be 11.22.63 or Pet Sematary. BTW, since I didn't see it on your list here - I HIGHLY recommend picking up 11.22.63. It's absolutely incredible!
