Ranjit Gazmer on SD Burman and RD Burman - Part Seven

Ranjit Gazmer is a well-known music director in his own right in Nepali Films. In his songs there is flavour of SD Burman’s folk music as per his own admission. He says that there has been no other music director of SD Burman’s calibre. There’s magic in his songs, and his songs are evergreen, as if they have been composed now.
Ranjit Gazmer is the last sitting member of the SD Burman and RD Burman team. He worked with SD from 1969-’70 to 1975, and with RD till his last film ‘1942 - A Love Story’ released in 1994. Here he narrates interesting anecdotes on both SD Burman and RD Burman.

@SANJAY CHATTERJEE, The music that SD Burman created was mostly based on folk music. That way, he popularised folk tunes through film music, and his music also became evergreen. Each of his songs was different than the others, and fresh like morning breeze. Never before, and never again, there will be another SD Burman. Thanks for comments.

@gagan deep Thank you for appreciation, and encouraging words. I enjoy sharing these interviews with musicians and others who worked with and knew Burman Dada personally. They also knew other legends of the film industry. All of them consider Dada as Number 1. Recently we interviewed Director Ashim Samanta, son of well known Director Shakti Samanta who produced and directed Aradhana with music by Burman Dada. He said in his video recorded interview that Burman Dada was God of Music. That was the respect Dada commanded. 🙏

@Deepak Goswami, You mean Kersi Lord. He was a solo player, not a sitting member. He expired a few years back.

@Swapan kumar Sengupta ji, SD Burman is a subject on which one can go on exploring and there will be no end to it. Read his autobiography ‘Sargamer Nikhad’ which was serialised in Desh Magazine in 1969-‘70. It’s a piece of art. In music no one can compete with him. He gave us Geeta, KK, RD and others. He used to encourage his juniors and had a good word for everyone. There’s so much to Dada that one life is not enough to do research on him. Thanks for encouraging words. 🙏

@Ayush Gajbhiye, We have a SD Burman group on Facebook with 8,000 members. There are other smaller groups. They all keep Dada’s memories alive. There are already 4 books on Dada. Such people live forever. Thanks for the comments.

Ranjeet Gazmir Himself a very popular Nepali song music director. If you Asked Music industry in Mumbai for Recognise Mr. Ranjeet Gazmir I think 99% musicians didn’t know his named. If you said Kancha than 99% recognise him. However he is the last alive seating members.I am pray for his good health. I wished you and your team success. Again thanks and best regard

Most important is lyricist without lyrics/ song arrangers and music director cannot dance aur create any music form
Lalwani ji " Rongila Rongila" sang by SD Burman.. He was not composer of this song.. Music and lyrics by Jasimuddin..

This time I'm late by 3 days. Moti Sir one thing I have to ask you if you please help me. I'm trying to call Kancha Dada since June 27 2021 but the number is continuously switched off, and no one is picking the call on landline number. I'm really worrying about his health.

@@lalwanimoti Sir I had some health issues so didn't come online for few days. As mentioned in this video this interview taken last month. So now I guess Kancha Dada is ok. I'm trying to call him since more than 7 months.
