Range Rover PHEV | Fully Charged
Ғылым және технология
An episode about a massive SUV, surely this isn't a Fully Charged vehicle. You might be right, but this is a plug in hybrid version with a claimed 100 miles to the gallon. Filmed in the extremes of Los Angeles and Oxfordshire to give an all around assessment.

This episode reminded me again that i do watch fully charged not only for its news-value, but sometimes rather for the sheer comedy of it. Thanks Robert and Team for a wonderful video, great cinematography and a very fitting musical track and a quite unique car review. I really did enjoy that very much.

Yes, I chuckled all the way through. I've had lots of RR and live in the deep countryside, and grow lots of trees, so have the excuse. Its best to have an older one so that its not a huge shame to scratch the paintwork on brambles, but always the problem is the fuel consumption. Because the car is utterly supreme at all the rest: comfort, space, towing capacity and utter charm, you can forgive it, mostly, but all the same it would be far nicer to have all that and not have to buy the cake to feed it. RR, with the hybrid, are going in the right direction and I really, really look forward to seeing the fully battery-electric versions when they arrive. Four motors, one for each wheel is going to give fabulous off-road capability after all.
God, I love these two presenters. Great chemistry... or should I say electricity!

This may be a "compliance" PHEV instead of a BEV, but it's still an important - albeit slow - transition to electric.

But only part of the time. I know plenty of people who use their truck/suv as their daily driver, but the whole reason that they bought it was because they want to be able to tow their boat to a lake that's 150 miles away, or their RV trailer (caravan in the UK?) halfway across the country, or their motorcycles to a stunt show on the other side of the country (1,000 miles away). BEVs just don't have those capabilities yet.

Mocking the Range Rover for being luxurious and a "status symbol" when it's priced as a mid range Tesla.
@user-et2ih6el7k

Yes, so in the same price you got 18 miles electric range What is the range of tesla of the same price)? More
@fdmjiv
5 жыл бұрын
And all of that is irrelevant. If you are in the market for a Range Rover, or other larger off roader, this is a tremendous step in the right direction. Mocking it hurts everything about the EV craze. Do you believe if this does well, they won't go further down the EV rabbit hole? Personally, I would rather drive a RR hybrid with all the toys and trinkets, the comfort and "status" over a Model 3. I think everyone shouting that this is not a "fully charged" vehicle, and "it's just 13 miles on charge" needs to embrace the direction, and ask for more.

Amazingly beautiful filmed episode.
A nice bit of fun . Thank you for uploading this video .....:)
Entertaining as always, thank you for the smiles!
There's certainly a plus side to having a hybrid over a standard petrol. You still get the regen braking, which on a car that size would greatly benefit the brake service costs.
That was delightful banter, was laughing the whole way through. More please.

If they ever decide to go pure EV. They can give Rivian a run for their money. It would be a great healthy competition.
You 2 make s great comedy act. Very comical indeed. Loved it like every other Fully Charged upload 👍😜
Alex was brilliant! Wonderful episode.
Haha great video! Love the tweed jacket!
"Hullo, are you a member?" What a superb line
"I've got this heat seating too high." Brilliant :)
The dialogue and music was spot on. A beautiful vehicle if a touch excessive for the average school run.
I see it rolling through beautiful scenery... And smoke coming out from the rear pipe 😷
brilliant vid - great to have a guest presenter, too :)
your English is so clear to me. thanks
Alex should be a repeat guest on this show. An absolute delight! As is the show in general.
Great you guys.. very entertaining!.. thanks.
I love these two... the are so entertaining!
Very nice episode. I am really pleased with the opinion of yet another person who has not been driving a luxury off road vehicle as a regular. Although we mostly think of EVs as really light economy models its still good to see just how possible it is now to be discretely quiet for those short commutes and chores that we are normally doing daily, without polluting. It does make a difference.
great video - keep up the good work
"American roads are notoriously lumpy"... Cracked me up. Gave it a thumbs up for that comment alone!
Speaking as the owner of an EV, whose wife drives a PHEV, I find it predictably human and predictably depressing that the EV world has become fundamentalist in too many cases. As far as I am concerned, any electric miles are good miles, and many people cannot go full EV for any number of reasons, real or imagined. Yes, the battery is pretty feeble, but it's a stepping stone car. If nothing else, the PHEV has converted my wife to auto gearboxes, she loves the idea of using no fuel to pick up the kids from school and also the fact that her commute to work costs her a lot less than the previous car (Seat Leon), and if something with a decent range, decent boot and preferably an SUV at a decent price turns up (no Model X for us) I reckon I can persuade her to go full EV when we come to hand it back in a few years time (Kona's too small, folks).
Nice to see Robert not sneering at a non fully electric car for a change.
After the arse burn moment and Robert starts pressing buttons, it becomes clear that he wasn't acting when playing Kryten.
Great video, good to see Range Rover/ Jaguar taking this step.

This was awesome!
As always, very entertaining. ;)
Lots of people being negative about the car in the comments. I'd just like to try and balance it out with a positive comment, and say this was a highly entertaining video. You two do make a good duo

Those oversized tablets in the back need to be integrated into the seats. Better still they need to be an ordinary tablets that plug into recepticles, then you could use any tablet.

Beautiful british car review, I love them. Anyway, is there cold / snowing? Bit strange for a review published in August. When or where was this turned?
You should feature her from time to time on Fully charged, she seems to bring a spark to the conversation :D
This set up would be perfect for my commute or a weekend outting
Hybrid sales are already on the decline while EV sales are accelerating rapidly. When will manufacturers of fossil cars get a clue? Absolutely beautiful video BTW; nice music too. As others have noted, the chemistry with Alex was great. Robert is funny as usual. Can't help it, I assume. ;)
Does the I4 have any connection to the wheels or does it just spin a generator? What is the power and torque of the individual motors? When the battery is flat do just have the I4 to move the vehicle?
Pretty amazing you had snow in August.... when was this shot?
Best part of the review is 13.30 for me when Robert does a canny impression of Harry Enfield's Tim nice but dim "Bloody nice bloke!"
Well, it looks good. Maybe double the battery capacity and add a couple of outlets in the boot?
It's a very interesting exterior look. I like it for some reason.

I think plug-in-hybrids are a great way to drastically reduce oil use. The problem of not having a fast charger network everywhere is a non issue since you can use petrol when needed.

Range Rovers used to be extremely utilitarian, no fripperies like leather seats and plush interior. They had to work in mud rain and cow poo all day, now they are mostly driven by idiots in the cities who think off roading is driving up a kerb. B1 looks cool, a tool to do a job and nothing more.

Do they always provide people by the side of the road to tell you what settings to use for the next section of road?
Nice to know that the high end manufacturers are offering a taste of the EV world to those that can afford to do more and should.

It's so weird seeing exhaust fumes on a car that's reviewed by you guys. ^^
could be good if you explained the mechanics a bit more.. does it have regenerative braking with its hybrid? why do you need to plug it in? its not like a Prius?
Cant afford the car but this was very entertaining!
Oh Robert, that's not a car, it's a very posh truck for the lords and ladies.
"Hello, are you a member?" Damn, I felt that...😔
9:17 So if you buy this car, a guy pops up everytime you come to a hill to tell you what buttons to press?
The hardest consumer groups to convince are those who have to lug trailers. Horse boxes, car trailers and particularly caravans are more stable when towed by a heavy vehicle which along with lots of torque which gives EVs an advantage but usually means a diesel SUV for buyers . Is there any chance of an episode focusing on towing with EVs and hybrids and highlighting what manufacturers are planning moving forward.
Sorry Robert, we still have no idea what's inside this machine. Is it a series hybrid? Or parallel? Does it have gears? Or a power split device like in the Toyotas? Why don't you tell us these things?
What is the Duct Tape on the side for?
I hate Alex. Beautiful, smart, and funny: it's not fair! Seriously, though, she's a great addition, and a natural for the show. More please!
That SUV just oozes class. 30 miles is perfect for what the average Range Rover buyer wants. Groceries, kids, yoga...
