Wish I found this before I did it the hard way (dis assembling the front end!). Either way fixing the expansion tank fixes the problem. Removing the C clips on connectors (sensor and hose at rear of tank) and clamping the hoses at top and bottom are the only tips that are not as obvious to someone like me who has never done this before. Note: this is same for 2011 L322 4.4Diesel Vogue

Thank God I seen this comment! I thought I was gonna lose thousands trying to fix the engine but as soon as the coolant light came on I noticed the engine light came on after! You guys saved me!

Yea. usually the dash lights up like a christmas tree 🤓.

I think putting water in without coolant will saturate the float which is the main cause of all of these faults. the float is designed to sink in water and float in coolant.

stufoo1 what RR owner would put regular water in their car? Not saying it's not possible, just imaging most won't even think about working on their own cars.

@@superchile9640 You can pick up a 2009 - 2013 HSE for less than 10k thee days. That opens up the ownership to the potential self maintainers.

I’m getting ready to swap out the front plastic coolant pipe that goes under the intake manifold. Losing a quart of coolant per tank of fuel.

@@superchile9640 I got a low coolant light on the highway and the temp started going up. All i had in the car was a bottle of water which i put in to bring the coolant level up so i could get to the next exit. So yeah, that would be me putting in some water.
