Less dramatic music would be helpful as you were drowned out by it. Otherwise helpful.

For UK guys watching this, the genuine Land Rover replacement costs around £15 direct from LR

I’ve just replaced the cable. Everything smooth & easy, same route as original. EXCEPT, I can not get the rubber grommet/plug/boot fitted fully to the bottom. Only half way! I have used Vaseline, flat screwdriver, cheer power from one pulling the rubber and another pushing it. Is there a better way?

I think it is disgusting that Land Rover would allow this kind of defect. Just think of the untold misery that a person could encounter not being able to open the bonnet

Is there a way to release the hood when the cable has come undone or broken under a closed hood.I tried going from underneath I tried going through the grill but you can't undo the grill without the hood being up and can't get to it from the bottom

Did you ever find a way to get in the hood? My Evoque battery is dead , the key I have doesn't have a manual key, so I'm locked out and can't open the hood.

@@ayanapurvis8480 yes I was finally able to get into my engine compartment although I'm not sure it will help you with yours what I ended up having to do was to cut the tabs of the grill off and removing the grill. I was then able to get to the parts I needed to to force the hood open. After everything was complete I was able to use a soldering iron to basically weld the plastic tabs back to the grill and attach them back to the vehicle

Mine was easy! My cable broke near the place where it connects with the unlock lever. (Bet they all break in exactly the SAME place! That's the reason I posted this). Blessedly, there was about 1/8 or so, inches of the cable viewable. Fortunately, I had the smallest vise grip plier that turned out to be perfect for grasping and holding the protruding end. It slipped once and I simply tightened the vise grip 1/8 turn or so. This time it held! In my case it was essential to get under the hood because I could not start the vehicle without accessing the battery. So, I panicked for about 10 minutes and then quickly made the entry. Hope it helps. Can't believe someone had to cut the grill. Unbelievable, especially since this is clearly a defect! THIS SHOULD NEVER HAPPEN!

@@agevermoreinfinity20 Mine was definitely not so easy. And I also ended up having to cut my grill out. And then using a grinder had to cut through the bracing because it was in front of the section I needed to get to to release the latch all said and done I did get it finished and got in, but it was definitely not a 10 minute job.

@@biggbird897 As mentioned, I'm disgusted that Land Rover would allow this to happen Time after Time. For less than $0.25 they could add a more substantial cable. Also, don't understand why there are so many issues with keys losing connection with immobilizer. That happened to me recently as I was pulling a trailer out of my driveway. Instantly STRANDED in the MIDDLE OF THE STREET! Instant panic! Another 5 minute "fix"-disconnected battery cable and reconnected. Not a real fix. But I could start the vehicle! These are horrible problems that I never had with cheap vehicles. Never another Land Rover for me!

@@mydiygarage I have a 2007 Land Rover sport. Recently the hood latch cable has broken. I believe it is the second cable as the first cable still has tension when I pull the lever but does not release the hood. To make things worse the battery has died and I can’t get to it if I can’t open the hood. Any help or recommendations on what I can do without harming the vehicle. Mine is in very great shape and I do not want to harm the body.
