    The Praetor at the front cover of the "A Thousand Sons" novel is not Ahriman though. That's Phosis T'kar and his Fellowship. You can tell it is T'kar when you cross compare him with other official artworks depicting him.

    My problem with MKVI helmets is more that they all (except for the Night Lords and their ratskulls) look like beakies. There is so much variety between the other kinds of helmets (Atleast mostly.) but the beakies are always either just beakies with some details stuffed on them, or just not beakies at all?

    That is something I hate, let beakies be beaky, why do SoH have Mk. 4 heads for their Mk. 6 heads

    I love, as a thousand sons fan, how space wolves got totally not bjorn, looks like him, equipped like him. And we got what should have been a preator, because he looks nothing like 90% of the art of him. Maybe one day we will get the PA preator one day...

    In regards to the mk VI ‘beaky’ helmets. Is it possible that the manufacturing and production of armor for the legions was at its greatest and least stretched out. So ramping production of mk VI up was not as difficult as the others between more forge worlds, learned practices, and acceptance of the newer armor such as mk IV

    I beg to differ on Ahriman, but its purely for personal taste rather than any real, valid reason. I really quite despise the old look of 30K Ahriman, the crook in particular made him look more like a shepard than a warrior or scholar. Now he's adorned in esoteric runes and carries scrolls of ancient knowledge whererver he goes. The psychic hood/headcrest is also shaped to hint towards the eventual silohette of his 40K horns. His new heqa staff also looks like something he could fight with rather than smack his foes over the head like an angry grandmother, and it's far more in line with every other kopesh blade in the range than a crook would have been. I do understand your complaints about the bastardized armor mark, but I still feel that it fits in very well with an army with achean helmets and shoulder pads (I know GW doesn't make those anymore, but theres plenty of STLs and guys under uncle Mao that still make them, and they're jusy so gorgeous). Also, insert half-assed artificer armor excuse.

    Rules wise they used to be incredible back in 1.0…how crazy the tables have turned. Looks wise, they have pretty beautiful sculpts. Hopefully they will make a correct daemon Magnus model for siege of Terra like they did with Fulgrim, instead of the current GW Magnus which isn’t very good.

    They were a bit cheesy in 1.0 in my opinion. GW swung the nerf bat waaaaay too hard at them however, like they did with the Raven Guard.

    @@DeusExMachina10001 raven guard suffer from that yeah. They have 2 extremely good units and 1 super good character. Corax needs a rules rewrite and liber centura has rules for sharrowkyn which are unbelievably awesome, but GW will probably never give him a model or official rules

    There was a small group of Loyalist Thousand Sons who fought on Cthonia alongside the Imp Fists, If i remember correctly Malcador gave them Mk6, I think the Mk6 helms look really nice if that's what your going for but outside of that they really dont fit.

    I've debated making a thousand sons allies detachment just because they look cool. Id probably use some 40k parts for sergeants and characters. I adore their story and think their aesthetic is cool. Granted rules kinda suck.

    When you come around to the salamanders, I'd love you to point out, that the new mk VI shoulderpads seem to be mirrored (I've only bought the old mk III). At least from the picture it seems that they go on the other shoulder - but why?!? I've also noticed, that the mirrored the orientation of the other side specific legion icons like space wolves and emperors children. I just don't get the reasoning behind it - since the first book, the legion symbols were on the left shoulder pad, why switch it now to the right one? If there are some lore reasons behind that, I'd love to know them/your take on that. Edit: I just checked after writing this comment - the new SW preator has the legion symbol on the left shoulder pad. Now it makes even less sense, that the Mk VI seem to go on the right shoulder ...

  • @Balevolt

    @Balevolt

    In general your Legion symbol goes on the left shoulder. If your armor has bonding studs on the left shoulder your Legion symbol goes on the right and the symbol is inverted. Since MK VI armor all has bonding studs on the shoulder they are all inverted. I believe it is in Insignium Astartes. Unless I completely misunderstood your question.

  • @Omega1907

    @Omega1907

    9 ай бұрын

    @@Balevolt I guess it does make some sense with the bonding studs. It still annoys me though, because you could easily put the shoulder pad with the bonding studs on the other side. As a salamanders collector (haven't played horus heresy in a few years, so "player" would be an overstatement), I love to mix and match the different armour types representing the craftmanship of the legion and the lore, that each marine modifies and repairs his own suit of armour. I think the different designs of the legion symbol are fine for the XVIIIth, but the side switch ... it's just not up my alley I guess

  • @Balevolt

    @Balevolt

    9 ай бұрын

    @@Omega1907 Well since this is proper old fluff it actually has a reason. Since the thickest part of a Marines Armorer is the shoulder Marines would angle them into attacks and the shoulder they favored to do this was the left. So when the Ravenguard left Isstavan in their field MK. V they had a lot of left shoulders with studs for field repairs so they just made the Production MK VI pre-studded for ease of repair (most likely) and to honor the Isstavan loyalist. As a side note though MK VI is specifically designed with redundant systems to be backwards compatible with other marks so you can use any shoulders you want.

    I can't stand the Amon they've created. It's so bland, so generic. The Khenetai upgrades are great for my Egyptian-themed loyalists, and Ahriman is a fantastic librarian, but needs more robes, and the sprue construction is weird. The Sehkmet are great Termies as a 1st Company option, and the Praetor does well as a captain.
