I found this song refreshing, it's so creative and it brings back the past so elegantly. I love the video treatment too, with the color and black&white segments --- it makes a great visual for the story. I'm lovin' the Texas music you're finding on the channel Don, it's really great! Thanks for picking this one, and for your terrific reaction!

Great choice Don, this song shows from the writers perspective that Elvis was originally just like any other kid. We are all the same whether just normal folks like you and I or a one day superstar that ends up having to live up to huge expectations. I like the story and the song was well done and a catchy tune. #UTRCM

"Before Elvis was king"/ My mom grew up in Shreveport, Louisiana in the 40s and 50s and she and her girlfriends frequented the Louisiana Hayride. They'd see Elvis play there from time to time. At that time, most of that crowd in the early fifties was really into country music Hank Williams, Faron Young, etc. (My mom casually knew Faron from various song contests and venues in Shreveport she would go to. Supposedly he asked her out once, lol. But my grandfather wouldn't allow it). I remember my Dad would tease her when they'd get into an argument "Well, maybe you should have married Faron Young instead" lol. Anyway, she has told me, she and her friends saw Elvis when he'd perform at the Hayride during that really early stage in his career but to be honest they didn't take too much notice of him until he became famous. Then all of a sudden she was a huge fan, especially as he matured (Isn't that how it goes, lol). Elvis did sing a fair amount of country music at the Hayride in his early days because that was the kind of venue it was basically. My mother also went to school with DJ Fontana and my grandmother was actually good friends with his mother (My mom is of Italian descent and Italian American families in Shreveport were pretty close nit in those days) As everyone knows, Elvis met DJ Fontana while playing at the Louisiana Hayride and eventually made him his drummer . Mom also lived down the street from Hank Williams when she was a really young teen in the 40s but he was older and she never knew him. She says most folks who lived nearby just thought he was a drunk hillbilly singer who stayed up all night with his band playing music in his garage. Hank actually recorded many of his records n Shreveport. Shreveport was a hopping scene with music in those early early days, As well as Dallas with the Big D Jamboree, a radio program broadcast by KRLD-AM. I myself was a huge Elvis fan growing up.

Well congratulations first, now I think you will hear that Nationwide . I put this on your music channel but what the heck I copied it and going to put it here too! Like I put on my last entry on Facebook you deserve a 10 rating on this. But 9.1 will be okay. I tell people that confidence is knowing that you know that you know what you know. That is three knows there. And Randy buddy you know what you know... You know? Keep them smiling and keep them coming.
