How do you like the beaches in Maryland compared to the ones in California?

Ocean city is always super crowded in the summer. It has a touristy feel and I was much more use to a locals only feel at SoCal beaches. But as you move north to Delaware Beaches, Like Bethany, it's not as crowded or busy :)
