Great history lesson. No matter your weapon of choice in amplifification, Mesa is a true innovator that still continues to produce exceptionally well built and great sounding amplification.
After 6 years of gathering money, I could finally afford a MESA Dual Rectifier. It's a 2nd hand DR, but man, as Carlos Santana said, that thing really boogies.
there's alot of debates here sometimes...about marshall and fender...and their respective importance in tube amp history.....we all like magic marshalls and old blackface fenders...and all tube amps owe alot to leo and marshalls early designs....but i think its fair to say...randall smith took off......where they left off....and he seriously changed the way a tube amp could sustain and perform.....and moreover, react to your playing....he raised the standard man......then he became the standard.

I'm a huge fan of Randall, I have the quad preamp with a 2:90 and a MK3 and the Caliber 50, also used to have a MKIIb.and a studio 22.He changed my world!!!I I'm a Boogie addict. I also have CeriaTone HRM, wich Randall mentioned that the tone design looked a lot like his MK combo's from the inside.That figures for me, cause I can make some creamy Dumble like tones with the boogies!!! Thanks Randall
