Years and years ago when I was just getting to the point of needing a better amp because I was ready to play out, I asked my friend and mentor John Novik from Chicago... " how do you get that sound, that professional tone that stands out from the rest? " I would play him recordings of some of my favorites and say... " this tone!, how do you get this tone?" He simply said, get a boogie man! I did and I never looked back! There is nothing I found better than that Mesa tone. There are other great amps and I own some but that Mesa tone is by far superior and most of all inspirational as well as dependable . Save your money kids, get a Mesa and tell your story!

+Mike Flavor I second that. Got the Mark 1 in 1980 and then the Mark IV in 1991, which I still use today. It works like a beast. Nothing like Mesa Boogie.

i don't want to sound like i'm over reacting but dammit i will say it, every time i listen or look at a video about the legacy of Mesa Engineering i shed tears in my eye, and when i saw this video of Randall Smith's journey to create Mesa Engineering, he's so humble, and filled with experience, i'm honored to own a mesa boogie mk v combo with mesa black shadow speaker just the last 2 months, i'm honored and proud, and it's a prestigious feeling when people who knows guitars deeply saying hey, nice boogie mann. even though i do have a marshall haze 15(rotting piece of garbage) and for sure marshalls are way more noticeable because of their popularity and everytime 15 yo's say marshall, i'm like there's a fucking boogie, are you fucking blind, mesa boogie isn't just a company, located in Petaluma california, it's a dream factory, a place where miracles were made, i love my boogie so much, and i'm sure that i will love my upcoming triple rectifier that i'm gonna get, (gotta save money first) Randall Smith, you are my inspiration, i hope someday i could learn to be humble just like you

Randall is an amazing person. He has done so much for the guitar amp that it's not even funny. His story is so cool. He has worked hard to make Mesa what it is today. Thanks for your post.

I dreamed of owning a Mesa/Boogie. I bought a MKIII Simulclass in 1987. I still use it (dreams realised). Not the end.

If only life was like that now. "Hey, let's set up a music shop!" "Fuck yeah!" Two months later... "Oh look, Carlos Santana and Jefferson Airplane are outside with their amps."
