    I've got the RX120D, which is the same amp with like, 16 effects built into it. It sounds absolutely amazing and I love using it for my band. Just played a show with it last night in Philly, and it always works wonderfully in a live situation or just at practice with the band. I couldn't recommend this series of amps for thrash metal enough. It does the thing.

    I got a question about your RX120D. Will any 2 channel foot switch switch the effects over. I just bought the half stack and it seems to be on a weird setting and I can’t change it.

  • @seanfolk7133

    @seanfolk7133

    Жыл бұрын

    @@RyanFischer1990 it should. There is the channel switch button between the two channels, and the effects on/off button is right next to the effects level. There are LEDs on each channel and on the effects section. All of that to say if those buttons don't work or if the bulbs are broken and you can't see if the effects are on (which would totally cause that) then any two button foot switch should work. Also, the last resort option is turning the effects level all the way down and it'll effectively be off. That's just a thought if nothing else works

    If the solid states are good enough for Boston, Pantera, Savatage, and many others, I agree. Solid state is awesome, and you can have your tone at a lower volume than a tube amp. Just preference, though, but yea, definitely the old school death metal and melodic death from Sweden had some killer metal tones from solid states, right?

Peavey JSX, Peavey 6534+ and Peavey 3120. I use it on 18V. I don't use it on clean but I use it on crunch and lead channels. Yeah, I'm a rampant wordsmith binging on your videos this morning lol. *So, Randall s.s. schematics are always some very elaborate architectures and the number of transistors and FET's they use is insane!* They use in the dozens and dozens and their influence dominates the small use of op-amps they use. It's been a critical factor to my own designs and always will be. *Another critical factor is the use of overdriven transistors, something they don't actually do, to achieve your clipping and all-around distortion character.* When you hear a transistor circuit designed so they naturally overdrive and distort, *you hear the exact sound and texture of tubes right down to the fizz and dense, glassy high end, but it's significantly better.* It also does it with the bass and mids without all the bite, rasp and other note definition and separation solid-state is know for destroying *and just as relevant, miserably so!* Digital is undoubtedly destine to completely takeover, even with the power amp stages, but I don't think it will knock s.s. out of relevance and ultimately, I think tubes will in fact greatly fade from use. *They will still be around, but ultimately become highly marginalized when someone produces equivalent equipment that is priced fairly which means up to 1/10 the cost of valve gear.*

    This was my second amp. My first was a 10w Behringer combo that didn't sound too good. And I didn't think this one sounded too good either lmao! Your video shows that I had no idea what I had! I'll have to find one of these and give it another shot after 10+ years. Have you tried the cab that it came with? That's what I was using at the time. I wonder how big of a difference that would have made in my experience vs yours with the Randall V30 cab.

    The RG100ES is overrated. There, I said it. PITA footswitch and they're tube amp money now. Also Dime & others like Sammy Duet use boosts in front, Dime used 2 separate eqs outboard to get his sound...that amp in this video sounds way more fully baked. There's some annoying midrange the ES had I never liked, kind of like how Dime couldn't sell me on Coors Light, either.

    I already see how this gonna go. People will think this is the best gem in the world under 500, when the hype goes down, everyone will try to sell these for almost a grand used, then everyone will start to hate them. Just like they did with the rg series. Posers ruining a perfectly good amp and jumping on a big idiotic bandwagon.
