Goddam!! I got the notification late again! I remember the first time I heard Let's Go. Man, it changed something in me and hit me with some energy I never knew I had.

I would LOVE to hear the two of you discuss the Rancid album B sides and C sides. Even songs that didn’t make it on albums or were used elsewhere are really good. Rancid has such a consistency in their album quality that many bands can’t rival.

We can do that for sure, but until then, I just did a whole stream covering it when it was re-released kzread.infoSr9K23sEY38?feature=share

It’s always sounded to me like they say vigilante in Sidekick. The E in vigilante just isn’t as expressed in the way they sing it. 🤷‍♂️

They just say it wrong, they say vigilant and not vigilantE.

For me with less than jake, the only one who is really punk is roger, I compare him to Andy Hurley of fall out boy, being in less than jake allows roger to do punk projects like rehasher, in the same way being in fall out boy allows andy to be in Racetraitor and sect. LTJ is obviously his "job band" which I have no issue with. But gutted to hear how little dude knew at the punk museum, we had fat mike when we went round was great fun.

I wasn't intending to crap on Chris, either, I was just shocked at some of the stuff he said and did. But we all come from different places and times, and I certainly don't know everything. But I'm also not giving tours at The Punk Rock Museum, either

Saw Rancid in 1996 at Lollapalooza. Great bill that year including The Ramones, Soundgarden, Metallica, Screaming Trees, Violent Femmes who were special guests at the show I saw, among others. I remember Perry Farrell crying about Metallica being on the bill that year and he quit his involvement with the festival. Hey Perry, Metallica were more underground in the 80s and better than Jane's Addiction ever were.

Latino Ska punk bands are being overlooked? What about "Voodoo Glow Skulls" & "La Plebe" were they influenced by OP IVY? They are from Riverside and SF. Are they SKA Punk in your assessment? VGS got it together about the same time as OP IVY. La Plebe might be 3rd wave...

I mean, I'm not intentionally overlooking them, lol. I cover what I'm interested in. I like VGS ok, I carry their albums at my shop. I used to listen to Firme and Band Geek Mafia quite a bit. But this podcast was celebrating specific music for a specific reason, I didn't leave out a band to be rude. I would imagine VGS was influenced at least a little by Op Ivy, though. I'm currently working on a documentary covering Indonesian Street Punk. Maybe when I'm done, I'll do one on Latin Ska! No promises of when, but I'll add it to the list of things I want to work on
