@@juupiissocool With coral chips/crushed coral, you'll need to test the pH level with a pH checker. Besides crushed coral, you can also use products like seachem alkaline buffer to raise the pH level. It's much easier to track and get the right level.

@@gummytummy7260 Yes, it is safe to touch a pufferfish but I never recommend touching them as that can hurt their slimecoat. If you've touched them, make sure to wash your hands properly afterwards. And no, the water has no poison in it. It is safe. Poison and venom are 2 different things. With poison, if YOU ingest it, you'll die but with venomous animals, if THEY bite/sting you, you'll then die. And no worries! Always happy to answer questions! :D

Ramshorns are very durable. Dechlorinating chemicals unnecessary, just boil the water and leave it overnight and it will be perfect. Your ramshorns look protein-deficient. Those white markings on the shell are not indicative of calcium-deficiency, but a weak periostracum, which is the outermost, colored layer of the mollusk shell. The periostracum lays over the white, calciferous layer of shell; it helps to build as well as repair any damage to the main part of the shell by excreting mucous which deposits new minerals onto the shell basically. I feed my ramshorns a mixture of spirulina powder, soy husk pellets, and dry mushroom powder (ganoderma and coriolis versicolor, but many kinds of mushrooms are good.) The periostracum in mollusks is composed of complex protein chains called conchiolin, which is analogous to chitin protein chains in fungal cell walls. Thus, I hypothesize that fungal protein sources are the most easily-accessible to mollusks.

Cuttlefish bone works the same as the coral; no need to double up. I prefer to find locally-sourced dead coral from hobbyist reef keepers. Both crushed coral and cuttlebones are harvested by ocean floor-dredging which I object to ethically so I do not prefer to support or subsidize those business practices.

I find that mechanical filtration is unnecessary and I use only a sponge filter and airstone for water flow and biological filtration. The most important thing is to keep their piles of poop stirred up like a compost pile. This provides the nutrients for your plants.

In addition, spinach is not recommended for a calcium-rich diet because while it does contain calcium, it also contains compounds which reduce and prevent the uptake of calcium.

I literally had a ramshorn hop on some plants I brought home. I kept it because I was planning to buy some anyways lol. I have some fry in a nursery container and threw it in to clean up the baby tank. We'll it's been 3 weeks. And the thing has quadrupled in size and I see 9 clutches of eggs on my tank. Smh. How??!! Lol. It was a BABY and now it's huge 🤣 and it looks like there 6 tiny dots already on the plastic container ? So are you sure it takes months to hatch ?? I barely noticed it today. I clean their box every 2 days for poo. And didn't see any eggs or notice until this evening. 😕

With the right parameters, once you have ramshorn snails in a tank, they'll start breeding like crazy haha. It takes some time for them to grow but because they breed so much, you'll notice different stages of snails in the tank. Eggs galore!
