Richards guitar feels like its letting all of its pain go. Chills, chills all over.

The idea behind the song is a child born from an experiment, but the band has confirmed that it is also based around the childhoods of both Till and guitarist Richard ZK. Richard spent a lot of his teen years on his own, running away from home due to a very shitty environment, leaving for the first time at age 14.

You take the text much too literally. That is lyrics and poetry. It's simply about a lack of motherly love. The child from an experiment is only an expression of the feelings of the unloved child.

@@donjonson1748 Richard has spoken openly about his relationship with his mother. The pain of that flows heavily through both the text and music. Yes, the lyrics are from the perspective of a child that is laboratory born. I'm well aware that it isn't the literal case.

Annika is right. While they always said its up to the listener to interprete their songs they also said that their personal childhood lead to the idea behind this song.

AnnikaStrange They haven't actually confirmed that it was partly about Richard's childhood. Richard only said that he can relate to Till's lyrics but considering how close Richard and Till are it's very likely that both of their childhoods did influence it to an extent.

The Drummer is crazy good. Giving the songs so much drive and power. Just insane

We in Russia grew up with these songs, they had massive popularity back in the 2000s (and remain popular). Despite Rammstein's ambigous reputation they are talented and never fail to deliver

This is lyrically a very heave song... My mother died in April and we had the same broken relationship like in this song... It is my favorite Rammstein song... They are so much more then just a lot of pyro!

I could tell how the song personally affected Suzie Q. She really felt that song! Another great reaction from you guys. The part that till scream Mutter always sends chills down my spine.

Till has been a punk drummer and a good east German swimmer and poet and has been in movies. It's a busy guy.

Everytime when Til cries severeral times after his mother and then the guitar starts i get goose bumbs all over my body. You also have to think of clon technology cause e.g. "In meiner Lunge steckt ein Schlauch, hab keinen Nabel auf dem Bauch" means "There's a tube in my lungs, I don't have a navel on my stomach" or "Gezeugt in Hast und ohne Samen, niemand gab mir einen Namen" - "Conceived in haste and without sperm, no one gave me a name". Rammmstein very often work with double meanings in their texts.

"Mutter" is one of this songs where you know they are deep even if you don't understand the most.... similar like "Braking the habit" or "Family Portrait".

what a emotional song touching so deep the problem of giving birth to a child in an artificial way and without love.

Yes, very emotional song for the guys! "Onne Dich" is also a great melodic slow one from them. For a change of pace, "Benzin" live at MSG or "Mein Teil" live are (literally) fire, both the songs and the performances.

This is my favourite song of Rammstein

This is one of their most difficult songs for me. For the-same-but-different reasons. Till if we are honest, has a strictly limited voice - but it is utterly stunning to realise what a brilliant actor can do with their voice. He rarely fails to evoke an emotional reaction from me. I'm a hard bitch n'all.
