    If there is "...los" at the end of a word, this means less or without. "Los" as an independent word means something like go, come on, let's start. - Great reaction as always! 🤘

    The German adjective "los" (alt. spelling "lose") is cognate with English "loose" (i.e. not attached or fixed). It can be used as an imperative ("Los!") meaning "Go!" (especially in a race) in the sense of a boat made loose from its mooring and ready to go. It can be an adverb meaning you got rid of something (i.e. off or away from you) or to inquire about the current going-ons ("Was is los?", lit. "What is loose?", "What's wrong/going on?"), a prefix particle of a verb (e.g. "loslegen", lit. "to lay/make loose", to start/begin/commence), or a suffix of an adverbial noun (e.g. "zeitlos", lit. "timeless", without time). It can also be a noun ("Los", cf. German noun capitalization) where it carries the meaning of a lottery ticket (derived from the verb "losen", to draw lots/straws or to toss up), fate, or an awarded plot of land (cognate with English "lot").

    The meaning of the word "Los" Los when used by itself means “go” so ex. "Los Los Los" means "Go Go Go" and also "Los geht's" means "let's go" It is also a negative suffix which when added at the end of a word means "less" ex. hilflos - helpless zeitlos - timeless It can also be used to indicate something is going on...one example is “Was ist hier los?” “What’s going on here?” These are just a few examples of what I know about the word Los ❤

    Love, love, love this recording from the Völkerball tour! The full band version with the fan-made video (I think from Bucksttabu?) is also great. "Los" does mean go as a stand alone. As an ending "-los" it's -less, like timeless, godless. "Wir waren los" is not a common phrase. It could mean "we were -less", or "we were happening", or "we were unleashed".

    Rammstein has again and again written songs about himself. In Germany they are repeatedly placed in the right-wing scene, which is not true. This is how the song "Links, zwo, drei, vier" came about. Links means "Left" Till was once on the beach and was asked by a local what he was doing there, it was his beach! This is how the song "Mein Land" came about years later.

    If you want to see the things they went through to go from restless and impoverished punk musicians in East Germany not able to afford instruments, to the giants theyvare today, there is a good documentary up until they broke America, with focus on that. It stops with the MSG concert. The one that made Iggo Pop say; "They handed me earplugs and said 'you will need this'. I was like 'naaah'. I put in the earplugs and I was still too loud, my hole body was shaking."

  • @MacZussie
    @MacZussie9 ай бұрын

    You're absolutely right ! Los! means Go! as used in the German form of "Ready-Steady-Go!" German "Los/-los" indeed combines the meaning of both, "loose" (like as gates drop at a horse race) and -less. The song is settling accounts with their critics as they turn their saying "Rammstein are godless" into its opposite. How? The song mostly uses "-los" as an appendix, like shameless, hopeless, etc. but on two occasions. At one point Till sings "it is time...". As long as you ain't working in an art gallery, timeless is a pretty rarely used word. Contrary to (especially when you're a father) "Es ist Zeit - Los" - it's time, (let's) Go(!) , which is used by many on a regular base. So the quote from their critics "they are godless" is suddenly put into a context that allows it to translate it as "They ARE God..., (let's) - Go! (on)!" At least within the heads of the audience..., yet maintaining their "political correctness" by beating the critics with their own weapon...language😉

    The song grew strongly on me, as it allows you to have a little rest within the concert, before they are pushing again. I also like Till's lyrics, that show, that he doesn't take the whole thing too serious. In fact there is special humble note of Till, when he committs still being quite "sangless" after all these years. He knows that he's not playing in the same league of more gifted singers (e.g. Floor Jansen) and his vocal quality tend to be more on the lower edge of that scale. However and expressly excempt is the sound of his bandmates, which is unique and isn't a lesser thing at all.

    Yep, lyrics are essential for the majority of Rammstein songs. But another thing - Rammstein is not Till. Till is not the boss or anything like that. Yes he writes lyrics, but they all create music and come up with ideas for everything related to Rammstein. They are equal inside the band. If only one of them doesn't agree with something, they throw it away or make change and compromise until every single one of them is satisfied. So, it would be nice if you just notice othet members as well. We all love Till, but most of Rammstein fans love each member of the band equally.

    los means less when used as a suffix as in sprachlos / speechless. By itself it can mean 'go' as in Achtung, fertig, los! / Ready, steady, go! But as a noun it's simply a lottery ticket! So there!! And since Los was written in the title with capital 'L', I will regard this song from now on until eternity as Rammstein's song about a lottery ticket. You don't like it? Go screw yourself!!!
