Not sure how many battles Ramses won but Thuthmose III won over 80 battles, he turned Egypt into true empire, Egypt borders extended from south of Sudan to western Libya and across the Euphrates to Anatolia in the north hes time was the pinnacle of the empire.. Ramses however saved Egypt from third intermediate period coming way sooner, we wouldn't know much about ancient Egypt if it wasnt for him, he made the country strong when it really needed to be. Other civilization who didnt survive the sea people and the ancient apocalypse, almost nothing is left of them.

@@ashiinsane90 💯 x a million, Tuhmoses 3 was the greatest, the Napoleon of Ancient Egypt, his conquering prowess have no equal, his enemies will just lay down their weapons when he was marching through on his horse in front of his army, yet he was righteous and just with his enemies. He also had a deep interest in botanical 🌱 plants, which he would bring back to Egypt from his conquests.

Have watched several videos from this channel about several historical figures. Each video is very enjoyable to watch and Mr. Jones narration style keeps me interested to the end. Will continue to watch. Maybe Mr. Ramesses mellowed out as he got older like most of us today. Experience is a great teacher in how to make the most of your days and for me at least I don't feel the need to rush through everything anymore. Take your time and have patience and you can accomplish anything you set your mind to.

Very thorough video and I'm always impressed with this channel. I have an ear worm from a cartoon called, "Courage The Cowardly Dog". King Ramesses! The man in gauze, the man in gauze. King Ramesses! The man in... My 22 yr. old son admitted that ghost scared him to death when he was a boy.

All of my life and in my soul I feel this deep connection as if I was an Egyptian. I dream about Egypt and the ancient times, I feel all their emotions and many times I cry in my sleep because I feel the deep silence and texture of sand. It's a longing and memory I cannot explain. It's impossible to describe. Whenever the archaeologists discover something I cry and wants to hide it. It feels too personal and special. I wish I had the funds to visit and stay for a year or two or many more. I do not want to be a tourist but to live as an Egyptian.

There are many wonderful stories in ancient Egypt, I like to read the history of Egypt

U have to understand that Ramses becoming a God was the very beginning of Judaism. Moses was from a family that worship the idol 'El'. The concept 'living god' was more like a retaliation and a system of intended disrespect to the pharaohs authorities. Rastafari did the same to the British, colonialism, fascism, in the 30s then they proclaimed Selassie to be King of Kings and a living god.

He must have been a very formidable man to have lived for that long in that time period.

The highest estimates is that the Egyptians lived until 45, which would have been AMAZING to the Greeks/Romans, who only lived to 25.

The Egyptians ate well due to the immense productivity of the Nile River. In Roman times they produced so much surplus that it was sufficient to help feed a million Romans. In anycase Ramesses lifespan was extraordinary

Great documentary (thanks for this); my only qualm is that the section where you note Ramesses' construction works at Saqqara is slightly erroneous; the Serapeum was not a Temple of Serapis at this time (as Serapis is a later Hellenistic syncretic deity) but at the time was a place for the Apis bull or wsjr-ḥp/Osiris-Apis - Serapis is later conflated with this deity (as well as Osiris and others) so the mistake is understandable. Keep up the great work lads!

But from listening to various Historical scholars and egyptologists it gives that image that there is something dark lurking over there. And ofcourse there is the Ozzymandiaz poem by Percy...so. I remember the commercial regarding the exhibit of the Pharoah kinggs,The meta Work and we'll documented culture of ancient Egypt,. I often what the library of Alexandria could reveal,burned out, we must protect history by all means,your very fortunate to have seen that exhibit,great excuse to skip school,?😊😊

The research of which Pharoah is in exodus is facinating. There's a good case for an earlier pharaoh, based on how the hyksos invade after the famine, the memory of what the hykos did causing racism and enslavement, and note your mention of the couple of pre-ramesese kings who seemed to build less. There is also a pharaoh mentioned in the time of the Israelite Kings, which can aide a time hypothesis. Akhenaten is a possible post-israel pharaoh, who saw what the israelite god did and wanted to turn the people towards that god, using the best diety proxy available. And i think theres also something about how the 18th dynasty started or Akenaten himself, being not the firstborn of the previous pharaoh. And finally, the Babylonia/medes rise must join Israel's history. The temple rebuild is dated, and can help guide researchers. It's all facinating.

@@ThisfuturemanExodus only says the “army of pharaoh” was drowned, not the pharaoh himself. The movie Ten Commandments accounts for this by having Pharoah stand back and watch while he sends his army into the midst of the waters

Ramses II is particularly interesting to me for many reasons. Firstly. We share similar names (Ramsay) and secondly his proclamation of greatness from the very beginning of his reign. Similarly to US and Russia, Egypt and the Hittites were antagonists for over 2 centuries. They had several skirmishes throughout the time. But Ramses wanted to bring it to an end.

@Duncan Disorderly Many historical facts are conjecture. You have to use logical conclusions in many cases based on how a society functions. Tutankhamuns mother, possibly Kia, Akhenatens wife and sister, would have been placed in a harem along with his other wives. Royal harems were not just for concubines. These royal harems would have included Egyptian women and their children, and large numbers of foreigners married by the Egyptian king in order to establish diplomatic links outside of Egypt. I certainly concur 100% but Ahkenathen's reign lasted only 17 to 17.5 years, not enough to put a dent in a civilization that pre-dated him for more than 1,747 years, he tried hard though, but moving the capital away from Thebes to Amarna and worshipping the Sun Aten must have been a pain in the gluteus maximus for every person that had to follow him. when Tut came into power he immediately restored back all the O'l gods and gave the priesthood their positions once again, Amarna did not last.

BTW everyone makes a case for Rameses prowesses, but he was more of a great builder and pr man for his own glory, even his only big battle against the Hittites ended up with an impasse. You know who I consider fantastic Egyptians pharaohs Robby? in my humble research and for their achievements 12 dynasty Sesostris III & 18th dynasty Thutmose III and tough separated by hundreds of years their deeds of greatness are similar, it is said that Thutmos III did his best to emulate and even surpass his predecessor, I think both of these men were amazing in every aspect. Hello, where can I get the books with some of these histories.

What's the movie/show called that this video uses clips of with the Pharoah's, Mosses being sent down river and other story related video clips because I've seen bits and pieces of it over the years on random channels videos but never found out what the shows title was in order to search it up to watch the full video, I know it's an older production but it's supposed to be quite interesting and informative 😊 ... last but not least, I thank whoever knows the show title ahead of time as only a response to this comment will notify me of any knowledge surrounding the movie/show title 😮😊

@@masada2828 Although you are 💯 correct, there was no Exedus, it was just man made fairytales, colloquialism and man made up stories.

And what of Nefertiti? I’m fortunate to know her details and like every good king there’s a far more formidable Queen and Goddess behind him. Arkenarten took the Lion’s share of the monotheistic concept, but Nefertiti was the first person to come up with this concept. And in doing so one could, and I dearly do see the Queen and Faroe as the Very First Daughter Of the one God. And I know they have their differences but she deserves far more respect than these trivial documentaries give her. What an absolutely beautiful woman whose intellect would cumble cities.

Whatever you say weirdo. Nefertiti. Best pharaoh of any pharaoh. Smartest lady ever. Direct descendant of a god or gods. Able to crumble entire cities with her mind. Yet almost nothing is known of her and she has zero impact on historical record behind her name. Even in historical records, people try to steal the glories and deeds of well known and recorded male pharaohs to give unearned accolades on random ass females.

People lack knowledge of the Ancient Egyptians, as they lasted for 3000 years. That's a longer time between the birth of Jesus until today; it puts things in perspective as to how powerful and successful Ancient Egypt was.

To the Greeks Egypt has had a special place amongst other nations.

Anyone else think it's ironic that the Egyptians that built the pyramids had to rely on another country to build a dam

That's like saying ancient Americans were all Europeans or the melting pot of races it is today. 8,000-10,000 years ago, this would be a bold-faced lie. Same with Ancient Kemet...the Indigenous people were native African, period.

Rameses was supposedly my distant ancestor via my maternal grandfather Capell's paternal early lineage. One of my Capell ancestors married the daughter of the Earl of ArundeI. The House of Arundel are descendants of Rameses. I made this discovery years ago when studying my mother's family genealogy. I have always wanted to visit Egypt long before I knew I found out about the family connection.
