This is me just going out on a limb, but I think the machine first floods the chamber with steam to 'sanitize' it after a previous customer takes their bowl, as well as bring it to temperature. Then it lowers the chosen bowl in, as a tube punches the top, to fill the bowl with steam to thaw the meal out. Lastly, if fills the whole chamber with steam *again* to finish heating it, so it's ready to enjoy. Then it finally vacuums the steam out of the chamber so you can safely take it without being burned.

I would love to have this type of vending machine restaurant in America, but the honour system would not work so well. I imagine there would more trash around/on the tables, and people stealing the utencils. I suppose I'll settle it by visiting Japan one day to try it out myself! It looks delicious ❤ Edit: I looked up that they actually exist here. I would probably try it out. I guess I only have this view because the area I live in is not the greatest. 😅
@Emeraldwitch30
Жыл бұрын
I live in a reasonably safe good area and it would be trashed here too. In fact our most loved honor farm stand was stolen from thos past fall. Someone took the cash box and all the produce and their big plastic boxes and wooden bushels they display their vegetables in. It was heartbreaking as everyone in town love them
@Wolfsschamane
Жыл бұрын
@@Emeraldwitch30 I am from central Europe and we still have this problem with our own honor farm stands, it's just too easy for anybody going by to trash it. It's usually not the locals that do that but people from further away. I am fairly certain a shop like the one we see in the video would work well though. It's inside a well frequented trainstation with constant flow of people and security cameras around. People would feel much less encouraged to do whatever they want there + cleaning personal making sure that it stays mostly in good shape.
@Emeraldwitch30
Жыл бұрын
@@Wolfsschamane I think in a place that was open and busy 24/7 like our bigger airports this might work. The town and sheriff think it was someone just passing through that took everything as the big bushel baskets and bus tubs were not ever found abandoned . If it was kids doing it around here we probably would have found the containers somewhere dumped.

Japanese culture really is unique in terms of avoiding social issues we can see among some western countries - altho in turn they may have other social issues. I can see a vending machine like this work in supervised places like malls and whatnot where at least peer pressure and oversight will make sure you clean your sh*t up :D I'd love to have these vending machines be common around where I live, it looks like good quality, albeit a bit pricy - but perhaps of the quality. Likely won't beat Ramen restaurants (and doesn't have to) but it'll do well in a pinch or if you just are on the move.
@pholnster

I would have huge trust issues with whoever runs the stand not cleaning it. Have you seen how infrequently they clean ice and pop machines?

I've seen numerous videos of ramen reviews from both restaurants and machines in Japan, and I'm shocked at how relatively in expensive it is compared to what we get in the United States. A ramen shop near me in northeastern Illinois charges $15 and higher for a bowl of ramen. In Japan, it costs half of that in most of the places I've seen reviews of. I understand that there is probably a currency exchange rate factored into this, but still. This being said, the food in this video looks really good and I would certainly try a bowl if I were there.
@rgvgamma9986

I believe the ramen is freshly prepared in the morning and kept refrigerated in the vending machine, then it uses super heated steam to quickly heat up the ingredients before adding in hot water, hence the message to stir the contents once it is ready.

I live in a reasonably safe good area and it would be trashed here too. In fact our most loved honor farm stand was stolen from thos past fall. Someone took the cash box and all the produce and their big plastic boxes and wooden bushels they display their vegetables in. It was heartbreaking as everyone in town love them
@Wolfsschamane
@Emeraldwitch30
