"Rambone" Slingshot Tutorial

Ғылым және технология

This video teaches you how to make the Rambone slingshot from 18mm marine grade / furniture grade plywood (aka "Multiplex") at home.
You will need a power jigsaw or a scroll saw, rasp, file, sand paper, epoxy glue or wood glue, and of course a piece of suitable plywood (20x20cm).
The pdf file can be found here:
www.theslingshotforum.com/f9/r...
(You must be a forum member and you must be logged in to see the files)
The Rambone can also be printed out on 3D printers, the required 3D .stl files can be found at the forum as well.
For those who want to buy the Rambone as a complete product, you can buy it online too.

Joerg I have to say I appreciate that you dont try to shove the rambone from the store down everyone's throat, but instead you take so much time to make tutorial for those who wanna make it themselves and in the end, instead of saying how much better the rambone from the store is, you tell everyone the value of creating something with your own hands. Great job

'...The most important thing that you need to have is'... all of your fingers!! Joerg is definitely an impressively talented guy and a KZread hero! Not many people would launch an item for commercial sale, then show interested parties how to make a nearly identical thing for nearly free! Way to go Joerg!

Hello Joerg, yesterday i started to saw and to glue (about 1h). today i rasped, filed and sanded (about 2h). it was my first wood work. i think the slingshot i made is fine :-) so it is not that much work. and as you said, its amazing to own a slingshot that i build with my on hands. thank you very much for your detailed instruction.

Thanks for the tutorial. Enjoyed. I live in southern Appalachia where we generally make the "Prong" from a nicely formed Maple branch. Never really thought about manufacturing the parts but it does add class to a very unique and accurate weapons system. I have been shooting for overt 70 years and enjoy it as much today as when I was a kid. Always carried one (when I could) during my 20+ years active duty Army career and often got tagged with the moniker, "Slingshot" as soon as someone saw it in my back pocket or watched me plinking away.

Again showing your master wood working skills. To make the piece a bit more decorative, It might be nice to do something the knifemakers do and put a couple ( or more) brass pins in the handle. May add some strength not that it's needed but it would look good. Your efforts in these videos and your light hearted manner makes them so good to watch.

Hi, And its so nice to see this thing take shape in the designers fingers. Great to see you using ‘hand tools’ to do a lot of the work. Seems nowadays there is so many mostly Americans who automatically think they cant do anything because they have no power tools. Even on a knife blade if one is making just one it gives so much more control. Well done. Take care mrbluenun

I have my own workshop based on working with stainless steel. Therefore I believe that I would complete the development of a slingshot with angle grinder. Some would attack the material with a file, but I like heavier armor. Nice work :)

I had to use a jigsaw at the beginning as I have very few resources and I think it's important to note, especially for beginners like me that an old jigsaw doesn't cope too well with the 18 mil ply. I suggest using a drill to start with and not to try to do any of the tighter curves with the jigsaw. Also, it's more dangerous than the bandsaw as it can easily get away from you. Make sure that the ply is very secure before you start to cut it too in order to avoid vibrations. I experimented with 9mil and it was much easier, so if the 18 mil is too tough to saw through I'd suggest cutting 6 pieces of 9 mil instead. I'm sure you can get a lot more in depth advice on the forums (which are great) so I'd suggest checking them out too. Thanks again Joerg for sharing this with us.
