Patriot Viper Steel are my favorite looks and die/layout wise. Their B-die is good and affordable. I have a 4000mt/s kit and 4400mt/s kit both 19-19-19-39. I got both of these kits sub $100. Worth it even if you are pairing it with a 5600/X. 4400mt/s is out of stock though sadly.

I got two kits of those legendary Patriot Viper Steel: 3600c14 and 4133c19, and they work great together in my case. Started with 8600k on Z370 which didn’t go exactly high, now I tune them for 5800X3D, first got stable 3800 14-16-14-24 GDM for now, will increase frequency tomorrow. Also BZ said X3D doesn’t need fast RAM but I still see improvements in benchmarks which just warms my soul.

I once bought these 4000c16 Patriot and the heatsink was really cheap/nearly not in contact with the IC, I finally returned them. I ended up buying a used (and cheaper) 3800c14 kit from G.Skill and I was able to post 4400c14 1.6v while the Patriot wasn't able to. I believe Patriot is cheaping on the heatsink and the XMP being closer to what the chip are capable of compared to other.

To be honest, I can live with 1.45 - 1.5V max. DRAM voltage limit (because of cheaper heatsink) vs. buying non-Bdie that can take 1.5V+ for price of those Vipers.

That completely depends if/how often the game fills up the cache. There will be a big difference in 1% lows in games like Warzone where the game does not fit in the entire cache. Even if the XMP config gets a 200 fps average, it probably won't be a great experience if you're getting 55 fps 1% lows.

Might be local supply thing, but each and every stick I've ever checked and those I've heard of or discussed about from those have been. In almost every Finnish shop they are (among) the cheapest option and discounted in every sale, which makes choosing cheap grade RAM incredibly easy. You just buy the capacity you need from the slowest bin on sale and clock it to decent speeds.

29:05 sad that patriot for some reason do not make 2x16 B-die with RGB like others have im using 2x16 Dominator Platinum RGB 3600c14 bin, they can do 4000c14 at 1.55v, their price was $240 Also one thing that no one knows: Corsair/Patriot/Oloy/HP mostly has better B-die quallity than G.skill stuff, because G.skill starting from 2021 puts top IC's into 4000c14 (only some cheaper Royal kits made in 2020 can do same primary as 4000c14 bin, while newer not)

Currently I have a Gigabyte gaming x and can only get 3866 16-16-16-38 with 2 sticks and 3600 cl 14-14-14-34 with 4 sticks. Should I try and upgrade to something else or just stop the madness and be happy with what I have.. haha

Bought a 2x16 3600 19-19-19 kit a year ago for $173 CAD (or $145 USD) that turned out to be dual rank CJR. At the time it was the absolute cheapest 2x16 3600 kit, and pretty much all other 2x16 3600 kits were $200+ CAD ($168+ USD) and were 18-22-22. Seemed like a deal and I bought it with the plan to upgrade 1st gen Ryzen to Zen3 if we ever got BIOS support on X370 (which we do now), but still haven't snagged a Zen3 chip...and I can't do over 3000 14-16-16-34 with this Zen1 chip. The fact that nowadays you can get a 2x16 3600 16-18-18 for the same or less money hurts a little bit. Futureproofing really is kind of a bad word.

Several times I got it to boot Patriot 4400mhz c19 1.45v at xmp (my 10850k won't do that) and in memtest/linpack it was stable. But change any setting and it would not retrain. Newer bios definitely seems to help but not fix it completely.

Posted similar linpack gflops (~360) with 3000 c14 gear1 vs 4400 c19 gear2 despite losing 19k Mb/s of bandwidth on the 3000. Best my board can manage to train and then only once in a while, so don't buy the matx version of the b660 steel legend. Also probably not that great of a comparison when the cpu is the main bottleneck in linpack. Also VCCSA is showing like 0.896v in bios so I'm not sure if that's lower than z690s boards would do on locked cpus.
