RAM'S HORN TOENAIL AND THE 100 YEAR OLD MAN

**UPDATE: BRAND NEW FOLLOW-UP VIDEO OF THE FULLY HEALED TOE**
• RAM'S HORN TOENAIL COM...
A 100 year-old man has been suffering from a painful, infected toe. He is unable to walk due to the amount of pain he is experiencing. The 2nd toenail has grown extremely long and into the skin causing a wound and infection. The man did not tell his family members he was in pain or that he was having problems with his toenail. Due to the severity of the infection and pain, patient needed to have his toe numbed before the trimming of the nail.
Bye bye painful, infected nail.
Love,
The Toe Bro

For everyone asking "where are the caregivers???" 1. his grandson is the one who took him in to see the doctor 2. You can hear the grandson say, "you have to listen when we tell you its time to go to the doctor" Not all grandparents listen and you can't force people to go to the doctor. Clearly this family cares for this man, don't be so quick to judge.

Actually I don't agree with you there. Very elderly or disabled people or people with learning disabilities are classified as vulnerable adults. They are called that for a reason, because they are vulnerable. Whether it feels good or not sometimes you have to make decisions for them. Sometimes you have to protect them from themselves. And a 100 year old man is most definitely a vulnerable adult.

So true, my grandmother will be 98 in a month and she is stubborn as hell. No I don't need this or that. Pffff very annoying sometimes. She really need to see a pedicure or maybe more. But NOOOO I will not go. My mom took her one day and my grandmother screamed so much that the police was called....so nope. As long as my grandmother lives, it is by her rules.

@@gothicgrandma4559 That's not how it works. A senior has to be declared of unsound mind and have medical power of attorney transferred to a caregiver, otherwise they are free to make their own decisions regarding their medical treatment and forcing them to do otherwise against their will is illegal. On top of being a potentially high expense of even obtaining the medical power of attorney, the level of incompetency required to obtain the power of attorney can be quite difficult to prove and needs to be of such a level that refusing to go to the doctor for any number of reasons when a caregiver or loved one thinks is appropriate doesn't even come close. From the brief recorded audible interactions we have of this man, I would say it is very likely he would be found competent enough not to be forced to relinquish his medical power of attorney. Furthermore, these are people who are clearly struggling with a serious loss of independence, and their fighting tooth and nail to retain whatever bits of independence they possibly can is completely understandable and reasonable, even if doing such could ultimately harm them in the end. I mean how would you feel if you had to burden (as they perceive it) others for everything as small and simple of a task as trimming your toenails to sacrificing a potentially large chunk of their time to take you to the doctors just because your toenails got a little too long and started to hurt (from their conversation, he's clearly one to downplay the seriousness of such issues to such a level). Forcibly taking control of his freedom to even make his own medical decisions like you advocate would clearly crush this man, and almost definitely wouldn't work anyways. Him turning around and getting so upset that he crawls further into his shell and stops communicating issues at all would be bad if you succeeded in usurping his power of attorney and even worse if you didn't, causing your approach to be potentially quite harmful in numerous ways. The healthier way of fixing this issue would be to make sure you deeply instill in him the idea that you guys love him far too much to see him in any type of pain or with any type of medical issues, and that anything he could perceive as an inconvenience to you is far from it and how important it is to share any potential issues and allow them to help him. At least this solution doesn't have such a high chance of making the situation even worse while causing your elderly loved one potentially severe emotional distress. I mean, imagine how a 30 year old disabled person (a group you also reference) would react if you offered to carry them across the street because you thought their battery might die in the middle potentially killing them, then after they declined you just did it against their will anyways because they're "vulnerable" and "sometimes you have to make decisions for them." That's essentially what you'd be doing to your elderly loved one, except you see it differently because you consider yourself so superior the them just because you mistake their strong will to retain their independence with stupidity due to their age.

I had to smile and chuckle a bit when Jonathan said "When in the future you can't your nails to go this long". Toe Bro had have given his 100 year old patient the confidence that he has many years left. That's what I like about Toe Bro...his respect and kindness to his patients as they are his only patient that day. That is a special gift.

It sucks to do it but I don't like being treated like I'm lying about why I'm there or whatever it is they think. I just can't give respect to someone who doesn't give it to me. Dont dish out what you can't take in. Most of the nurses (and I'm sure you too) are a lot nicer than the doctor him or herself.

I used to cycle round until a taxi reversed into me and 2 years later I still need crutches to walk. I miss them now many have passed away. I loved that job so much. But even if they needed a doctor podiatrist or anything else, they decided. It didn't matter if their family their friends me and my managers begged them to see whoever they had the right to say NO I REFUSE to see them. Unless they have paperwork to say they haven't the ability to make that decision, we have to respect them. At some point in my country the court of protection will get involved

the elderly will seldom disclose to family. I took care of an old lady who pinched, hit, screamed at me and almost tore off my breast. As an experienced Lpn and STNA, I knew that when an elder is combative , it could be because of pain! I asked the lady if she was in pain and she screamed YES after hitting me so hard I saw stars! I called her POA and the evil brat said "no it's OK" to her POA/niece! They are afraid to ask family for help because they don't want to be put in a home. Sometimes they will tell a paid caregiver of their issues.

TB-James, asked if the patient had any pain. Elder says, nah. Toe Bro asks again if he feel's pain. Elder said no pain. Mutual compassion. Respect. Battling the problem(s) together. TB tells him respectfully, if you are hurting or having any problems you make sure that you tell whoever you need to to let me know and I'll help you. True humanity comes from people like these two Gentlemen. My son is 27. I raised him the same way. My daughter is going to be 18 and graduating high school. She's sassy and spicy but knows what respect is just as well. I truly appreciate this episode.

Gotta love the stubborn senior crowd.❤️ I remember when my dads toenails got really long before he passed. He wasn't letting my step-mom help him and he said they were fine. I made that stubborn old man sit down and laid on the floor and cut his toenails for him.

Well said.. I love watching him. He cares for his patients as if they were family members or friends. I'm sure that "job" wasn't pleasant but her did a wonderful job did not berate the older gentleman treated him with respect and dignity.. like a human being. All doctors should do that!! I have seen and heard so many chastise their patients when they come in and while they're working on them talk about them as if they're not there.. and constantly moan and groan. Who wants or deserves to be treated that way... people sit and judge why did he let it get like that .. how stupid or lazy etc.. who knows why he didn't come in.. maybe he didn't have a way to get there .. maybe fear of being yelled at.. many the man doesn't have much money.. who knows.. but I'm sure to him it was a good reason for letting it go .. after all he's the one with the issue and is the one dealing with the pain and discomfort on a daily basis.. shame on these doctors they do not care for their patients and shame on others for not helping him take care of the problem.. I once heard an elderly man talking as he was sitting in a restaurant eating by himself.. he was talking to the waitress/server he said its hell to get old .. you can do things they way you used to the easiest of things become a struggle.. and all of the sudden you become invisible.. this country does NOT treat their elders the way they should .. just look at other countries.. Italy ..Greece.. China etc.. they have respect for their elders and treat them properly

I'm Not Sorry Diabetes can cause a condition called neuropathy, which is basically damage to the nerves. This results in loss of sensation so that you could easily cut the skin and not feel it. Unfortunately diabetes also causes poor healing. Even a small foot injury, if left untreated can result in major problems.

Neuropathy sucks and it’s not just caused by diabetes-chemo is another common cause of debilitating neuropathy, thankfully the oncology nurses taught me how to do it for my husband and now for my grandmother. I’m not sure what the cause is of her neuropathy is unless it’s the Raynaud’s? 🤷‍♀️ Proper care of neuropathy affected feed is super important regardless of the cause.

That poor grandad, the family, especially because dada is very old, watch out for his toes and finger nails, his ears should be checked by a Doctor, just to see if he has a build up of wax. Castor oil just 1 drop, can be dropped into his ears. Helps if the inside has wax and if the ear is scaly dry. Our elderly people can get very difficult at times. But love and kindness can do wonders. I had my Mother who was a very independent person but I was lucky she lived next door to me. So I was able to keep an eye on her. Oh she could be pithy at times. Like saying I am alright, I can do that. Do it latter. As a nurse I could see what needed doing. It got that way she would say things like, you better check my feet, I think one nail is getting long. She new it was better to say something than me find something wrong. Life for all was sweet. I allowed her to keep her independence and control. Therefore her dignity. everyone stay well, peace to all

I have worked with some of the best doctors, but you have got my vote for the doctor the year. You have a great bedside manner and you have a gift for speaking to your patients. You have set the standards very, very high..... and you reach them every time.

This made me want to cry for this man. So sad that he had to go through this. I don’t have the words. Except to say I just wanted to cry. He’s, so lucky to have found you. You are a wonderful man/Doctor. Not many would be, so kind. You are definitely one of God’s angels from above.
