Driver's side is usually lower for a reason. Quote: One way to tell if headlights are correctly aimed is to park the vehicle on a level surface and shine the headlights on a garage door or wall 25 feet ahead (some cars may require a different distance). The top of the low beam shining on the wall should be at or slightly below the height of the center of the headlight lens for most vehicles. You should expect the light pattern to be higher on the right side (passenger side) to illuminate road signs and lower on the driver's side to prevent blinding other drivers. This should give you a good idea of whether the beams on both sides are aimed correctly.

Not correct. The hot points should be level on each side. Reflectors have enough glare for road signs. Projectors either cut up right or in this case, project slight glare for road signs.

@@curtiswall3703 Projectors are a completely different story. For anyone with a 09-12 which do not come from the factory with a projector style headlight assembly, Mr. Mason is correct. If you adjusted them the same way as a projector, you would blind everybody on the road and you wouldn't be able to see a damn thing without your fog lights on. Assuming that you are lucky enough to have fogs.

Nice video my man. Helped me out. I figured that was what those holes were for but wasn’t sure. I also appreciate dodge/fiat for making these headlights easy to remove. Two bolts and a quick disconnect and the whole thing pops right out. I also like that they put little doors inside the wheel wells to access quick disconnect. I’ve had a lot of GM trucks and everything is a pain in the ass on those. Like the fuel filter you have to pull the fender liner out I built little door for all my duramax trucks for ease of filter changing.

Excellent info. Just what I needed.

CCW raised the headlight beam pattern.

My adjuster was stripped out, had to remove light and manually adjust until it was just right. The ball didnt pop out of the back of my low beam reflective lense but the gear that the t-20 torque screw turns popped out and I had to manually turn the hexagonal gear head clockwise until I could rotate the gear mechanism into place. I can see how he says if you lower it that it will pop out, it looks like raising it too much will do the same. Raising (clockwise) retracts the mechanism rod, versa.

Alright so I know this comment is a year old now but here’s my take. If you look at any headlight lens you’ll see a small dot or dimple carved into it. That’s the reference point for aiming in a way. Use a tape measure and measure from the ground to that dimple. Park your car about 25 feet away (about 1 truck length) from a wall on level ground. Normally you’re supposed to subtract 2 inches from that height, lay a piece of tape on the wall and adjust the cutoff line to that point. Since your truck is lifted (a lot) I would subtract about 3 to 5 inches from that dimple measurement and adjust to there. The reason for the extra drop in your case is because if the headlight beam pattern is too high, you actually won’t see the road as well. Plus blinding other people. Hope this was of help, and if you have any questions feel free to ask.

@LethalGarage I have a 2016 Laramie 1500 and it only has the one adjustment screw. Also, I tried to aim it up and over corrected and backed the ball out. HELP!!!

They should turn easily by hand (finger tips) with an extension. If they dont you need to investigate why.

On my 1500 i only have the second little hole to adjust.. T20 i had to lower quite a bit because of the led

I'm running sealight LED bulbs off Amazon in my ram. With my research these seemed to have good reviews and there was no modifications needed to make them fit or for the dust caps to fit back on

The driver side headlight has to be slightly lower than the passenger side headlight , the reason for this is for you won’t blind on coming traffic with the driver side headlight

Even if this was true how fuckin annoying it would be to have your headlights at different angles. I’ve installed idk how many HIDs, projectors, or led headlights. I do park 25 ft or so from a wall or garage door to start with and literally every single vehicle I’ve done were dead even to begin with and when I was done unless they had been messed with before or were broken. Idk where you heard this but it’s false lol.

Chips at 3 and 9 o clock is the way to install led lights.

I got a 5500 u can only raise or lower same screw t15 torx

i feel like there should be an adjustment knob inside the cab. because loaded pickup truck always aim upward blinding everyone.

RAM engineers weren't even smart enough to have a side to side adjustment, and you think they could figure that one out? I have a dark spot right in the middle of the road that I can't adjust for. Infuriates me.

I think he said you only have a vertical adjustment in 1500 models.

You can't beat the GTR Ultra 2.0 and they are low pro enough you can actually put the dust cover back on.

If you’re talking about the ball joint in the adjuster popping out and causing the adjuster to just spin, the fix is very easy. Remove the headlight, insert the correct size hex key (5/16 I believe) into the adjuster housing on the back of the headlight assembly and tighten (clockwise) until the ball pops back in. You might have to tighten a bit more to get the ball joint or adjuster to fully reengage. I had to play around with it a bit, but it went back into place and my adjuster is working correctly now. Hope that helps.

Install the Katana headlight available on amazon. You'll be able to see into the future!

You have to go in through the fenderwell, through the access door. Lift the White Lever that locks the headlight in place, then force the headlight back into the Ball Socket, without breaking the lens.

Forward is up or down?

How far are you from the garage door? What height did you set to? Got a lift installed, now my light shine 15 feet in front of me. 2-1/2” front & 3” rear.

This was so many years ago I don’t recall, but you can line your truck up like I did up against your garage and just do a partial turn both ways and you can see which way it’s going to go up and down.

@@sonyahernandez9166 Yes! I did get it fixed. Believe it or not, I coated in Vaseline, yes, Vaseline and used some 18 inch long trigger handled woodworking clamps and started clamping it. Wish id've taken a video but I wasn't sure it'd work. Once the tension is right and the ball and socket had Vaseline on them it popped right in. It may sound funny but it worked like a charm and in seconds too. Just saying, you do have to take the housing out of the truck but it makes the job easy and the whole grill thing is an easy job when it's warm out. Honest, try it and you'll save a lot of money and headache! Also, it adjusts like it had never popped out. I was also worried cuz this is northern Canada and even my shop wasn't overly warm when I popped it back in. Now it's summer the plastic should be softer too! Good luck!!

I own a 2018 Ram 2500 and have aftermarket bulbs in the factory housings. There is only 1 adjuster on mine for the low beam headlights to adjust up and down.

I just realized why I'm getting flashed all the time. Man I feel like a douche now. I always thought they were just letting me know something was going on up ahead, but there would never be anything going on up ahead. 🤣oops

If they are floppy, you need to get a tool inside and get the housing snapped back in as they were over adjusted. It’s a damn nightmare tbh

You have to remove the grill and there are two bolts holding the light in place. You also have to go in through the wheel well and release a clip.. it's not super hard it's just a pain in the ass. There are some good videos on KZread showing how

It just snaps together. It's a ball & socket design.

Some states have specific requirements for headlight aiming. Some state 2-3 inches below level at 25 feet. Always check local laws. Blinding people with mal-adjusted headlights is dangerous and stupid

My 2013 Ram Laramie is the same way. Hold your tongue just right, as you bite your bottom lip, and it pulls right out! Seriously though, pull the outside edge of the headlight out first, to get around the edge of the fender. Then when you pull the inside out towards the front of the truck, it allows the headlight to shift to the outside just enough to clear the grill. I've probably done this 6 or 8 times now?

why do people always decide they want their headlights pointed directly at the height of the windshield of other cars? le sigh.

Seems awfully high.

You don't have to remove your grille to remove your headlights.

My Ram is a 2012, 1500, it has a Phillips. I bought my truck from a company that had their headlights adjusted way high, maybe better for desolate hi way travel -however, now I get flashed all the time. Most drivers just want it best for them regardless of oncoming traffic, but one should consider 'blinding' the oncoming driver could actually cause an accident detrimental to yourself and your passengers. So what is standard, what is safe and why does DOT allow blinding wavelengths -well lobbyist and profits of course -they don't give a damn about our safety.

It’s a 7 mm socket to adjust. And it would have been nice if you had said when you feel resistance stop turning. Now I half to fix my head light to. So guess I’m an idiot like you

I have 3 different dodges. Only one of them is a 7mm. The other 2 are just Phillips head. Common sense would tell you to stop turning if your getting resistance. Pretty sure he says in the video not to over turn them. So... yes... YOU are an idiot. And it's "have"..... not "half"

Why align a straight line. When vehicle is never on a leveled surface. My opinion passenger should be slightly higher.
