You might want to check out Treachery Camp at Treachery Head just south of Seal Rocks. Then there’s Barrington Tops on the way down to the Hunter Valley. You get to enjoy the coast and inland areas.

Yep, the Tassie Hills and constant road work stoppages will sort out your fuel consumption 😂😅😂😅
Don't forget that going North is going up hill to you will use more fuel. Going south is all down hill so less fuel consumption. Hope this is helpful..😂😂

Hey guys, just came across your videos a few days ago and really enjoying your content. Just wondering about the reasons why you offloaded your Jayco? Also, do you prefer petrol power over the diesel for towing?
@ThumbsUpAustralia
Жыл бұрын
Hey guys. Thanks for the follow. Our Jayco was too small for us. We really wanted a north south bed and bigger bucks for Riley. It was also a very hot van, as it had very small windows. We have always loved Sunseeker vans and when the opportunity came up for us to purchase this one, we decided to make the jump. I think overall, diesel is a more effecient but for raw power the unleaded beats it. Unleaded is also 40c/L cheaper atm. 👍
I have a 2021 limited 21L /100 I have found the same and I have a 210L long ranger tank 23ft van

Great truck heh. Enjoy your rig
Hi I was just wondering did you have to run in the motor in before towing the van , because they all say you have to go at least 1500kL to make sure everything is okay. I think your fuel consumption should get better as everything settles in 🚒👍😎
@ThumbsUpAustralia
Жыл бұрын
Yes. RAM recommends in the manual 800Km, but we drove over 1000Km before we towed the van. We have 5000Km on the car now. It would be awesome to have the fuel consumption improve a bit as the engine settles in. See how we go. 👍
Have you done a video on loading and weights ? Im not good at finding things on u tube😂.we ve just bought a ram 1500 ds express and now need to do gvm upgrade as we re towing 3.2T van and if we put anything in ram apart from us our rear axle weight would be overloaded🤔

My diesel 2011 Ram 2500 (6.7L) got about 13 to 14 mpusg/18.0 to 16.8 L/100km towing a 14,000 lb/6.35mt - 30 foot enclosed car hauler trailer and about 20 mpusg/11.8 L/100 km when not towing. The Ram with the Cummins is really made to tow. Unfortunately the 2500 was short on payload and didn't have the tow rating for my 26k gooseneck so I'm waiting for my Ford dually order to be built.
Totally agree on that ram then any other brands?

As far as features what was the differences between the express and the warlock?
@ThumbsUpAustralia
Жыл бұрын
Great question. the warlock have better headlights, different grill, keyless start and entry, flares, LED rear lights and a 1inch lift. They are the main things.
hi ..also depends on what speed you guys tow at 85 > 95/100 ?

That’s true. Just too many things to include. 🤪. It ruins our theory. 🧐 Shhh. 🤫
What was the fuel consumption of your next gen ranger towing your bigger van
@ThumbsUpAustralia
Жыл бұрын
That’s a good question mate. Just looked it up. We were getting just under 20L/100Km.
Hey guys just interested to know why you ditched the Jayco for the Sunseeker?
@ThumbsUpAustralia
Жыл бұрын
Hey Tracey. Good question. We have asked ourselves that question at times. We traded up because we really wanted the extra space, the north south bed and more windows.
You should use the GCM when you talk about fuel consumption. I have a RAM 2500 6.7 diesel just spent 12 months towing to WA and back to Sunshine coast with a GCM of 8460kg. The fuel consumption was between 17 and 20 litres/100 klms. PS your chains look too long.

GCM? Cross combination mass? Sorry. Not following you

Gross Combination Mass 8460 kgs will use more fuel than say 6500kgs

I'm surprised that your fuel usage is so high. I only ever saw 12 mpg in the city or towing 12k to 14k in the mountains with my 2011 Ram 2500 diesel. I was running the low output (350 hp/650 lb ft) so maybe that is the difference.
When I heard you mention 95 Octane Fuel. I assumed ( always assume the wrong thing ?? ) You were talking about the Green Fuel as I call it or 10% Ethanol Fuel which is what I Always use in my FG XR8 Ute. But, when you mentioned 95 was more expensive you were talking about NON Ethanol Fuel. You could try the Green Fuel which will save you on dollars per fill. But, I have only heard this Fuel does burn a little faster, giving you less distance. I'm not sure IF this True ??? Possibly you might be a worthy candidate to test the Theory and possibly share your thoughts in a video ? What Might surprise you ?? Try running 98 High Octane and compare the results ?? YES, it's more expensive. But, you Might be surprised by the difference in distance travelled when comparing $$$

I knew the ram with that size of engine is thirsty as. you must be loaded to afford the fuel.

LOL. Chris, The van and our car is our home. We made the decision to have a mobile home a couple of years ago. Just like any home we have expenses that need to be met. Both Justine and I have jobs that we do to meet those expenses. Believe me, we are NOT loaded.

@@ThumbsUpAustralia Interesting reply for me. We are at that same point where we are preparing to sell up and hit the road on a more permanent basis, just waiting on the new car and van to arrive. We have currently ordered a Nissan Patrol, but we have found the RAM is readily available. My wife loves the Laramie, but it's hard to justify the price difference. Even it you take all the inclusions with the RAM (brake controller, tow bar, etc) it's still hard to justify. We weren't as happy with the Express, the Laramie just spoils you once you have driven it :)

I have a 2020 ranger wildtrak with upgraded suspension GCM 6600, I am running around GCM 6300kg. Van is 3500kg I am debating the pros and cons in going into a RAM1500 but after test driving it I found the suspension very soft and floating my car feels like a rock compared to the RAM. Did you have to modify your suspension, is there any sag in the RAM when towing. How did you find the stability towing a heavy van compared to your last car
@rich7447
10 ай бұрын
@@Jm-bp5zw All of the 150/1500 (class 2a trucks) are soft mainly because they have become lifestyle vehicles here in the US. The Ram 2500 after the 2013 model year has a coil spring rear end and is tuned for comfort when empty as well. Your current GCM/GCW rating of 6,600 kg/14,500 lbs is under the 7,700 kg/17,000 lb rating of the 5.7 hemi equipped Ram (must have 3.92 final drive ratio for this GCWR/GCM). With a 3,500 kg trailer your hitch weight is around 350 kg/770 lbs and the oem rear coils on the 1500 are 206 lbs per inch. That is going to put you at just under 2" of rear sag (770/(206*2)). There are HD coils available up to about 445 lbs, but airbags might be a better choice. If you haven't bought a Ram 1500 yet, it would make more sense to go with a 2500 for the added stability, available diesel (consider 3500 with the diesel as the engine weighs 1100 lbs by itself), and the extra payload. I had one of the first Ram 1500s with the Hemi back in 2003.5 and have been running a 2500 diesel for the last 12 years. The 2500 is far more capable, but the diesel does limit payload. Hope this helps.
