    Most of TopGear is scripted. Clarkson would have come last before the finale but they changed the tournament conditions so that it ends with a battle between the three.

    We sometimes forget amidst all of the fun and shenanigans that not only do Clarkson, Hammond and May know a lot about cars, but all 3 of these guys are really, really good drivers. They were racing in cars they had just purchased against race drivers who presumably were very experienced in rallycross, and they all did more than hold their own against them. And that includes May, who frankly had some rotten luck in his first two races.

  • @Vladpryde

    @Vladpryde

    8 жыл бұрын

    It's a little bit of an exaggeration. I haven't been golfing since I was in Junior High, but when I did, you could rent a bucket of balls and a golf set for probably $50 with a small 18 hole course. Probably cheaper. The kind of prices they're quoting in this video (1,800 pounds/aprox. $2,500 USD for Jeremy's car) will get you a decent starter golf set with a membership to a decent golf course with a stocked Clubhouse, drinks, and a small shop. But you will need to pay FAR more than that for a GOOD top-of-the-line golf set (hand-made sets by Honma Golf of Japan go for $4,000-$7,000 USD, however, I found some perfectly decent sets from other brands on Ebay using a quick Google search for about $500 USD) and a posh golf course. So if you pick a premium, top-of-the-line set of clubs, expect to pay probably upwards of $6,000-$10,000 USD total for both the clubs and the membership, depending on the membership package you choose and the golf set you want. And if you want a membership to a world-class golf course, like one of the PGA Tournament stops, you'd better be VERY rich and have good connections. And be a damned good golfer. Otherwise, forget it.

    +Balimaar The Bass Fish Can relate. I used to race 1/10th scale 17.5 COT, which is basically NASCAR with RC "pan" cars running spec brushless setups. It can be tricky to keep the car planted throughout an oval. Though really, the real interesting stuff when racing on oval tracks is when you overtake. Oval racing in general is less about your line and more about clean overtakes.

I work for myself, we home school the kids, and I make enough so the wife doesn't have to work, therefore, we can make our own schedule and come and go as we please. • @ARocketTaco

    @ARocketTaco

    8 жыл бұрын

    +Schizoman Yep, the MR2 just gets a bad rap for it because it's the only sample of mid-engine handling a lot of people have ever driven. All cars suffer from lift-off oversteer to a degree, as the car pivots forward and lifts weight off the rear wheels, but because mid-engine cars derive so much grip from the engine being over the rear axle they see a much larger loss from that shift. They also have a low polar moment of inertia (resistance to rotation) due to the weight being concentrated nearer the center (which is a big reason for mid-engined cars being so responsive), and because they're ass-end-heavy, when you decelerate and the engine mass wants to come forward, the back being out of line turns it into a lever pulling the car around. On a side note, one experienced autocrosser told me he used those properties to his advantage; he would tap the brakes into understeer-prone corners to force the car to turn in. Apparently the 93+ models which used revised suspension geometry to tame lift-off oversteer are harder to throw around.

  • @AGD_27

    @AGD_27

    8 жыл бұрын

    +Rocket Taco Yeah they use a slide for better entry in motorcycle racing they call it backing it in. They hit the brakes take the wieght off the back, bang down a couple gears, drop the clutch and the rear slides out then tip in and you have started the corner a 20 degrees. Look up Sam Lowes corner entry to get a master class in this technique.
