Salim Javed were story writers immersed in their work. They didn't have time for film politics. Amitabh was not their relative that they promoted him instead of Rajesh. Ups & downs come in film business. In 1983 Amitabh gave 3 flops Pukar Nastik Mahaan while Rajesh delivered 3 Super Hits like Avatar Agar Tum ne Hote & Souten. No actor can topple another actor's career. All are talented Artists in the craft of acting. Film industry is about 95% Luck and 5% Talent

They showed their class and ditched the Man who brought them into limelight.

Not any fault of Salim Javed. Nobody can destroy an Actor's career. Rajesh Khanna continued giving Super Hits after 1973 also. Bandish Thodi si Bewafai Kudrat Fifty Fifty Red Rose Akhir Kyun Maqsad Amrit Souten Aap ki Kasam Avatar and many more. He was a Superstar till end. Around 9 million people attended his funeral from all around the globe.

I refuse to agree with you. Yes it's ok that Mr Bachchan did give many blockbusters and established himself as angree young man, but these movies had their life and daded away with time. Dies anyone feels excited watching HERA FERI, KALIA, GANGA JAMUNA SARASWATI...etc. But ARADHANA, ANAND, DO RASTE, ROTI, DUSHMAN, DAAG, THE TRAIN, AAP KI KASAM,... AND A BIG LIST OF MOVIES THAT WILL CONTINUE TO LIVE FOREVER. AND THE MUSIC OF HIS MOVIES WILL CONTINUE TO ENTERTAIN MILLIONS FOR MANY DECADES TO COME.

Rajesh Khanna was the highest paid star till 1987 again a record which no other star has equalled it is ridiculous to say his stardom ended in 1973 infact it is only after Deewar Amitabh Bachchan took over as no.1 it is ridiculous to say his time was not good during Aap Ki Kasam in 1974 Rajesh Khanna gave max hits than any other hero in 1974 he gave 4 hits Roti, Aap Ki Kasam, Premnagar & Ajnabi the commentator is probably not aware of this at all
