Raising the Bar: Bowhunting Giant Alaskan Brown Bear

Спорт

Bowhunting Giant Alaskan Brown Bear.
Pursuing the world’s largest land predator with a bow is quite possibly the pinnacle of big game hunting in North America. Few get the opportunity and even fewer are successful. Giant Brown bears taken cleanly with an arrow are rare. One trip to the unforgiving Alaskan Peninsula is usually enough to satisfy the thirst for adventure, bad weather, and isolation. Very few hunters ever return for a second go around.
Go along with Brendan Burns and Lance Kronberger to the Alaskan Peninsula as they battle the elements and a ticking clock in pursuit a singular goal.

    “To only go one time would be a shame” unfortunately most of us will never have $20k to $30k to put down on a hunting trip. But, as someone who only owns Kuiu brand for hunting - I live vicariously through you.

    Well you are either lying or don’t know what you’re talking about. The only way to get a Brown Bear Tag in Alaska is if you are an Alaskan resident (most are not) which means you have to buy a tag from an outfitter who all charge $15k to $25k I took the average of $20k it is the only place in America you can hunt brown bears. Otherwise you’re flying to Russia/Siberia and by the time you get through travel expenses, guides license you’re looking at similar prices so nice try dude try to blow smoke up someone else’s A

    20-30k for a bear hunt? What are you hunting a gold-plated bear? The most expensive thing is food and toilet paper. I got 3 bears under my belt and i didn't spend much.

    Oh really? Where did you get your bear tag? Just curious. What state do you live in? Because unless you are an Alaskan Resident or have family that is an Alaskan resident you can’t get a bear tag genius unless you buy from an outfitter

    Oh and for you geniuses that keep saying “I have killed 6 bears” did you forget the interesting little piece of info at the beginning of the video? “There has only been an estimated 350 brown bears killed with a bow in the last 70 years” that’s not because it’s just so easy and cheap to get a brown bear tag. Congrats! I don't know how you guys hold it together. Bow in hand, last hours of the hunt after 15 days hard after it, AND you have this HUGE carnivore stand up in front of you less than 60 yards away, not knowing if your shot is going to make him run away or towards you. You got nerves of steel, my man!

    Can I ask a few questions? I don't want to draw hate. I am not a vegan and I acknowledge the wild is a savage place. The life cycle is real and we (and other animals) eat meat. I am under no illusions surrounding where we get our food from. So I am not one of those guys. But does this hunt serve a purpose beyond fun? Are the bears a nuisance or pose a problem that they need to be culled every now and again? I would also like to ask about the specs on the bow. Brand, poundage, and arrow weight and speed with that arrow weight if possible ( I can calculate energy and momentum from that) That is a big bear, and I know the shot has to be clean, but I just wanted to get a gauge on what kind of weapon you would need to take down a creature that big assuming you make a clean strike of course.

    in some areas there is too many predators so taking a few will increase the population of other animals like deer or moose. But also in general in most places there is enough bears that yes you can just hunt them for enjoyment and a pretty massive carpet or whatever you want to do with the fur.

  • @TavernSideGuides

    @TavernSideGuides

    The Alaska Fish and Game set limits for all big game based on what they think will keep the predator/pray life in balance alongside the right for the native tribes and residents of Alaska that use these animals as a main source of food. Brown and black bears in particular like moose and caribou... a lot. I think it is between 40-60% of all caribou/moose calves die due to bears and wolves, so it is important to keep the predator population in check so that hunting does not tip the balance in either way. That's the entire point of these hunts being available to those that don't live inside the state of Alaska.

    In a time of this planet where massive land mammals are basically becoming wiped out, why are you feeling the need to kill them? what you are doing is basically ensuring that these beautiful creatures become extinct. Have you not learnt from what our ancestors have done and the species they've caused to go extinct? You could have quite easily followed this beast with cameras and enjoyed watching them live and how they live in their ecosystem. Alaska is virtually the last place on this overpopulated planet that they can exist. Be a man lay down your weapons and enjoy watching these creatures in their habitat. One day they will be gone forever so you can either stop now and actively protect them or be the cause of why they disappear for no future generations to see.

    A fifteen day hunt camping out in the cold and rain and hunting all day long is a challenge to any hunters determination to stick with the hunt to the last day, what a beautiful ending. To kill a deer at 50 yards is quite an achievement . Replace deer with Big Brown Bear and that kill was in a class of it's own. Nerves of steel and a skilled Bow Hunter pulled it off, what a hunt.

    Depending on location and amount of people, minimum 8 grand. Since it was 15 days, I'd say this trip was 20 grand. That's why you try to get multiple tags filled in a hunt. That's unless someone else is paying the bills.
