    I once got chased by a large swan as a kid. Very scary experience. Ever since, I just don't like swans lol.

    I was told that they can only mate in water if you want the egg's to be fertilization. Is this correct?

    Calling swans in defense mode "mean" is a bit of an understatement. They can be full assholes.

    ooh the culling of mute swan in Michigan, I've once heard of,.... Thousands of mute swan get killed... That's completely absurd. While here I dream everyday of having my own mute swan in my backyard... Can someone just send a couple of cygnets to me, instead of they're get killed?:)

    Mute swans are non native here. They kill native waterfowl and deplete Bay grasses

    Swans won’t make fertilized eggs unless you provide a swimming pond or lake.

    Muteswantruth- He lets them out. If you really watched his videos you would see that he takes care of his animals!

    They are pinioned, which means the last digit ("knuckle") in the birds' wing is cut off (usually at a young age). Pinioned birds, because they lack primary flight feathers on one wing, cannot fly properly - this keeps them from flying too far from the farm.

    Fun fact: There is now a statewide cull of mute swans in Michigan, USA. They want to kill, oh, fifteen thousand of the things over the course of several years. In fact, if you want a license to hunt one, it's free. IOW if you want to eat one, come to Michigan I guess?

    Any animal on this planet is for eating, tabooing of eating specific animal is purely cutural choice. As for Swan I believe you can eat Swan in pretty much anywhere in globe, except UK, the place where swan is most highly protected.
