Mute Swan facts: they aren't really mute | Animal Fact Files

EDIT: At 2:15 we mention mute swan cygnets are able to fly at two months old - this is incorrect! It actually takes about four months before they're able to fly!! We apologize for that inaccuracy and thank Secret Life Of Swans By Xavier for pointing that out. =)
On this episode of Animal Fact Files discover some swans who aren't mute and will make sure you know it!

Mute swans cygnets are able to fly about 2 months after hatching WHAT? That’s false information, mute swans are able to fly at 4 months old not 2 months old . Mute swan expert hear I been studying them for 3 years now

Oh wow! Thank you for pointing that out!! We had used this source (animaldiversity.org/accounts/Cygnus_olor/) as the reference for two months, so we had no idea! We really appreciate you bringing that to our attention. =)

Yes! They hang out at the Lake where I go. They seem to come back in March, but this year they did not. However, the two swans that remained had 4 beautiful cygnets. I hope they stay, and I hope the others return.....

The mute swan is the national bird of Denmark, where I was born. Here in Denmark it's illegal to even harm a swan, they are given a lot of respect and in my opinion represent our culture at least partly, though most people are afraid of them.

Outside of nesting territory disputes, Mute swans really have no effect on Canada geese. While Canada geese do like pond weeds, there is no shortage of grass for them to eat, and their legs and weight are far more adapt at land grazing than swans or ducks.

Mute swans are so much more menacing than other swans because they’re quiet, they only hiss. They also don’t have expressive eyes like other swans so between that and the silence, you can never tell what they’re thinking

Not all of this is correct. Mute swans do mate for life unless the adults have a falling out and 'divorce'. Mute swans lay up to 8 eggs.

Swans Are Symbol Of Beauty And Modesty Thorough What People Feel Now And Why Are They Considered Ugly🦢 As The Cygnets. I Was Discriminated At First Against My National Modesty And Intellectual Disability And Untill The Time Of Pandemic, I Haven't Revenged Against Failure And Many People Were Hated(Especially Persons With Any Kind Of Disability) Because Of Being Judgemental By People Who Rejected Them. But Mostly Some Oftener A PWD Transformed From A Cygnet To A Swan 🦢. I Hope Sooner Swans Will Be A Symbol Of Empowerment Of Any People With Disabilities. There Was A Swan, Yes, There Is A Swan That Hisses Endlessly When Bullied By Strangers And Many People Got Abused Severely By, But Not All People With Intellectual Disabilities Tend To Be Violent As Swans Do. There Are Swans That Are Aggressive, And There Are Swans That Are Not. I'm A Swan Too, From Philippines. My Girlfriend Hates Me Because Of My Intellectual Disability And She Just Wanted A Better Boyfriend Without Any Disability (As Swans Have It Though). But I Advised Her That "The Main Impairment In Life Is A Bad Attitude Or Lack Of Moral Characteristic". My Best Friend Told Me That Too. So That I Am Glad That I'm A Gentle Swan In The Community, Yet I'm A Great Philippine Eagle Either; Full Of Dreams, And Talents. My Attributes Are Making The Crowd Believe Me Like I Should Follow Them. I'm A Great Elite Swan 🦢🦢🦢 If You Are A Swan Too, Then Come And Fly High To Your Journey! Be A Professional Being With A Good Intent. Every Swan Is A Modest Big Bird In Worlds That We Dream.
