Back then even my multi-cultural ethnicity was not as common. And, due to WWII, there was animosity in the older generations. But, still no issues with other kids. Since Indian-Americans are so few in Hawaii, for other kids in your children's schools, whom do not know your kids and never met you (their mom), it would not occur to them that your children are half Indian. I wonder if they think your kids are half Hawaiian.

We're Christians but hold on to our culture. It was brilliant to hear your eldest son saying he loves Indian food & eating with his hands. We eat nearly everything that way. I adopted a Black child 24 years ago & now he calls himself " Blindian" . Sometimes I think he's more Indian than us because he eats with his hands like a pro. So glad you're teaching the children Chinese & Tamil & to address grandparents in Tamil etc. Best wishes to you & your family
