Raising Awareness: Congenital Diaphragmatic Hernia

This is a new segment called "Raising Awareness." This segment will include parents who share their experiences with their children, both living and passed on, who have or had a rare disease or disorder. This sheds light on the families who know what it's like to be where the chances are so low, yet somehow ended there. We are kicking this segment off with CDH. Our podcast host Briana, had a daughter who passed away from severe CDH, and she is joined with three other mama's who share similar experiences.
If your child was recently diagnosed with CDH, here are some resources that we highly recommend you look into:

    What is Ecmo?

ECMO means Extracorporeal membrane oxygenation. Essentially it is a life support machine that helps the lungs and heart function when they can’t on their own. It’s supposed to be a temporary solution to help with healing, but in more extreme cases, it may be the only thing that is keeping someone alive.

My 6 year old son is a CDH survivor. He was born with left sided CDH and was given a 50 percent chance of survival; he has had 3 hospitalizations and surgeries since birth. He is my 3rd child of 4 and I had never heard of CDH until we got diagnosed at our 20 week ultrasound. I am so relieved and pleasantly surprised to see awareness and education on this as so many people do not know about this devastating defect. I found CDH International right after our diagnosis and without the network of parents, families and medical professionals, we would have been lost. Thank you for continuing to raise awareness again at such an important time for all of the families, survivors and non survivors. This is every day for us. 💙💗💛

I Love ❤️ that you’re bringing awareness to CDH! I wish more doctors knew about this…Heavens it could save these wee lil babies still in their Mamas wombs, they could hopefully come up with treatment plan asap when baby is born ❤️‍🩹🥰! My heart goes out to all your wonderful mothers sharing your really personal experiences with us all🥰! Sending pure love 💕 and strength, healing ❤️‍🩹 and lots of spiritual support and of course hugs all around from afar 🤗! Thank you from Stefanie for sharing this incredible podcast ❤!
