This is a very effective way to repair wood dents. A hot iron and a wet towel. this will destroy the finish and it will need to have a finish reapplied.

If you have a deep dent put a drop of urthane varnish in the dent. Let it dry for a few days. If you can still see the dent put another drop of urthane in the dent. Let dry for a few days. Continue until the varnish is flush with the surface then put the new finish on. Make sure you let it dry for a few days between drops or the previous varnish will create "gassing bubbles" in the new varnish. That is true whenever using any varnish. Don't rush or you will get to do it over. Use urthane varnish because it is clear.

Just saw your video. Great job on the repair. Also noticed your vise for holding your work. Is that a commercial product or home made. I'm interested in obtaining info.😊

Thanks, That is a "Decker Shooting Products" gun vise. They went out of business a few years back, but you can find these on ebay once in a while. I bought 2 Brand New ones a few years back and they can last a lifetime.

@apexcustomrifles I thought as much. I remember them from years passed. If I can't find one, could you provide some pics? I could build one like it in a friends wood shop.

@@francisrotondo6485 you can google that term and a bunch of photos will show up. It's a pretty simple design, and I almost made a few, but for the price I got these at, It wasn't worth my time at the time.

do you know if this would work on small dings in a Winchester Model 70 Supergrade(with the finish they use)? Thanks!
