sounds more like a mash-up of a classical indian raga & some english folk ballad from the middle ages to me. since the narrative seems to be some quasi 'creation myth' like a weirdly adjacent "book of mormon" tale with a soupçon of "urantia", that makes a bit of sense.

It is a custom intro song describing the discovery on nuclear potential. "The door that finally that finally opens" the discovery of nuclear potential. "the core that never was, now it will be..." indicating a non active core in a nuclear potential state has recently or will become active. Very similar to the cold 'rock' they found that suddenly became active and burnt the primary priest or whatever. It also mirrors the potential destructive power of when the two story lines collide, the atheist and theist story line.

@@kyleknauss9802 excellent take but just so I'M clear i meant the overall 'feel' of the pc. even the singer's vocal timbre suggests a sort of asha bhosle atmosphere which is interesting as the vocalist is a swedish jazz & experimental music vocalist. whatever though, it's an amazingly fresh take on music 4 a sci-fi tale.

It's so mysterious, it feels like your floating in space at first then speeding at Ur pace offworld towards a distant planet. It gives you a surreal feeling. Amazing song, hope a full version will be released.

it feels so distant, like our conception of human lives are ancient and primitive, almost forgotten. this song makes you feel small and insignificant. yet the song also has some motherly warmth and softness, like a lullaby she sings for her kid to calm them.

Yes that would be awesome. But you have to remember this is a pilot season. They don’t even know if people will like this show. Until they figure that out, then they can put more time and effort in this show. Saw the whole season in one day lol. Was amazing!

This hits so much harder now that this show is canceled... I really wanna cry man, as an Alien fan I was invested and blown away from this series from the first episode. I hope the RBW door is re opened..

One of the most calming and hauntingly simple themes ever made, with poignant and thought provoking imagery to match. Beautiful, just beautiful.

I’m obsessed with this intro. It’s haunting, beautiful, stirring, unsettling...it latches onto you and never leaves. Sometimes it even tears me up. Such a good intro for an amazing show.

I'm pretty sure this is my favorite intro ever. It encapsulates this weird feeling of loss, longing, mystery, darkness... Perfectly. Such a great show. Can't believe they cancelled it.

My dad died of cancer after an 8 month battle when I was watching this show and now this song makes me cry every time. I remember coming home from the hospital exhausted when he was in palliative care and I was watching this with no energy just being taken away from what was happening in my world.

When I was a teenager I slept over a friends house and we had this NIN remix album on repeat. I remember waking up around 6:30am and hearing both the music from the cd as well as some singer from the tv in the other room. I couldn’t differentiate both pieces at the same time for the first minute, but this song comes the closest to the feeling I had listening to that 20+ years ago

I can’t believe how good this show is. The acting is so amazing. The kids are fantastic and mother and father are outstanding. The cinematography, set design, costumes and effects are flawless. Even the theme song is a masterpiece! The show is so interesting and unpredictable. This is truly one of the best shows ever made.

Feels like the artist went into deep, deep trance mode thinking about a realistic, tremendously sorrowful regret coming from a vision from one human on his knees looking at devastating eradication of all that is alive & beautiful, while remembering now long forgotten past experiences.. a truly transformational song.

This is the only series intro I legitimately never skip. What a masterpiece, both in the music department and the iconography. The way it captures dread and doom is unrivaled.

I cant be the only one that actually finds the opening really beautiful, comforting and warm. It's like embracing the armageddon and finding comfort in it. It feels like your soul is leaving your body and entering heaven and your mother is singing this to you from the gates as she welcomes you with her arms open. You're dead so of course its unsettling and scary but you're also calmed. It reminds me of the character of Mother. She loves her children and would destroy anyone and anything just to protect them. Her love is comforting but also lethal and unpredictable.

This show is like watching a dream. Its amazing

If you listen closely or with headphones you can hear a little girl counting in Afrikaans at the very start of the song. Afrikaans is one of the many languages spoken in South-Africa, where the show was also shot. That was nice to hear as an Afrikaans person myself. The counting is 9 (nege) 8 (agt) 7 (sewe)

Covid was a horrible time period, but this show got me through quarantine.

I think its deeper. They always show us the future through film. The show may be sci-fi, but that intro can one day be very real. The more I learn about the true nature of reality, the less surprised I become. Nothing is beyond belief anymore.

Incredible.... I just can't believe it...last time I had the similar feelings was while I watched the BladeRunner 2049.. it just leaves me with full of thoughts... I'm speechless, sometimes I have even tears in my eyes while I'm hearing this. It's not just by the soundtrack itself.. but also its art and meaning of all that..

Please the Full version soon. The music along with the images makes me feel a sort of cosmic nostalgia for our planet. Makes me sad to think on that world were coutless human beings along with other life forms were forbidden to be born, to live during and after that great war depicted in just a few seconds on the intro. Great wars happened in the past, are happening now and will continue in the future since us as man kind tend to be against each other. I´m glad Travis Fimmel is in this show. I hope this becamos such a great success for every body involve on this show and hope we as the audience love it. Despite everything happening on 2020 this song resume it very well, Tragedy, Sorrow, Pain, Uncertainty for the future and dark hope to be safe and alive after all, until we have to die, till then Best wishes to all. This intro is truly beautiful and really fitting of the dystopian setting

This intro reveals the hidden truths about this series. Some people thought it was atheist propaganda, some thought it was religious propaganda. In reality, it's about neither and both- it's about the ones we love and the lengths some go to protect those people. However misguided, however blind, everyone thinks they're doing the right thing, nobody actually knows for sure, and our actions, regardless of intention, can have deep, unforseen consequences that hurt those people in ways we can never understand until it's too late. Grieving that which is gone forever, lost in the bittersweetness of impermanence. Celebrating what was had, because it's better to have loved and lost than to never have loved at all, even after the curtains pull back and we see things for what they were all along- fleeting, ephemeral moments that will all pass with time. But also they have stasis tech with the ability to simulate minds in collective dreamspace, they have superhuman AI that can blow up people by literally just exhaling loudly and yet they DON'T have a way to properly diagnose people with illness or engineer medicine? C'mon! 9/10

Listing on headphones - you can hear muffled sound of bombs or something exploding in distance. Sound is brilliantly done - gives an impression of something huge blowing up :)

There’s nothing about this I don’t love with the exception that it needs to be longer. And the art deco visuals that are reminiscent of the Metropolis movie from 1927 are brilliant

If you close your eyes and just listen to the song, it is actually a promise of a better world. Beautiful.
