I cannot thank you enough for uploading this. This man intrigues me with his words more than any other writer of any kind, and has stayed with me the longest. I have battered and worn out many a copy to a pile of pages held together with rubber bands of his works, and had to purchase more. I wish more people would sit down and listen to his words. They speak to everyone, if they would only take the time to hear it.

@@AnuradhaOne thank you! This is lovely to hear. I found his work by happenstance in 1995. I was a junior in high school and I was walking through a thrift store, which is the only way I could afford my virulent reading habit lol. Anyway, I found this copy of his book, in the condition I would eventually leave every copy I found of his work- barely bring held together with tape, rubber bands, and a prayer, lol. Thoroughly marked throughout and clearly was deeply loved at once. And I remember thinking, someone loved this deeply. There must be a reason WHY. that night I curled up with it, stoned out of my mind, and got so deeply lost in his work, and found a voice to something so buried in me that had no words before I found his. For decades I didn't meet anyone who had ever heard of him so I can't express to you how good it makes me feel to hear his work is spreading. He truly was a wizard with words and touched us with a deep understanding of human nature.

An Amazing and Essential Documentary on The Most Majestic 20th Century Poet! I am saddened by how much Rilke suffered internally, but not surprised - immersion to those Depths of the Soul are nearly impossible for mere Mortals. Macintyre's Translation of the 8th Elegy is SO Elegant! Stephen Mitchell's populist-New-Age translation obliterates the Sublime language of the Elegies...in my opinion. THANK YOU, for this Gift!

Probably my favourite poet of the 20th Century. He eludes decent videos in English on youtube (some admiration, of course, but not very insightful). Except here there is a genuine glimmer of his life and art. Thanks to those uploading!

Of course - I’ve been completely charmed by this document and also very impressed by the reading of his poetry by what appears to be the unnamed reader? Robert Powell ?

Hi. Checking in my translation it is by C.F. MacIntyre. A limited edition of this is available in the Franklyn Library and includes Sonnets of Orpheus.
