Love love love this video. Thank you. So lovely and great instruction.
Oh how lovely! I have been watching your videos for a few years and can see that your skills keep getting better and better - not to say they were minimal to begin with!

You did an incredible job creating this flower. You also hit the nail on the head saying these flowers can be confusing to do with all the layers of petals. So true, I have such a difficult time. The way you did the leaves with the angle shader reminds me of Susan Scheewee's lessons. I learn a lot from you. Thank you thank you : 0)
I love this rose-it’s so rich and colourful. I can’t wait to try it.

you make it look so easy. Really beautiful and colorful
I have been sketching portraits and flowers for eight months. You have inspired me to try watercolor with your beautiful tutorials and I am waiting for my white nights watercolors to arrive. I can't thank you enough for everything you have taught me as I am a beginner mixed media artist. You have such a lovely personally and your art is gorgeous. I'm looking forward to taking your watercolor and mixed media classes soon. Thanks again for your generosity, support, and much needed guidance.

Sketchbook Sundays are my favorite!!
This is great! I have neon pencils and don't use them. Now, I know what to use them for.
So pretty,wouldn’t it be great to actually grow these!
Your rose is so very cool! You are an amazing artist! Thanks for sharing.

thefrugalcrafter Lindsay Weirich You're welcome!!! :)
So cool how it comes together!
So cool. Never know what to expect anymore. You doing so much many different things. Hard to keep up with you. But it's all so interesting.
Another fantastic job and great info as usual...
This was just great! Love the "cross pollinating my colors" term, as it conveys what you're doing very well. And yes, trying to create something with a range of colors without it looking overly simple or "rainbowy" is always a challenge, which you tackled marvelously here. This just came out so great!

I love the sketchbook Sunday series. I don't always get to watch them on Sunday, but, hey that is the world we live in. I have a suggestion, how about we have video on Lindsay's Fails? I think everyone should know that even you make mistakes and even if you start out making something and it fails, you can either recover it, turn it into something else, learn to love it, or just plain trash it.

Gorgeous! 😍
Very pretty!
Love everything you created here. Especially impressed with how much the pencils helped achieve your result.
You are amazing Lindsay. I wish I half your talent, I will just have to keep watching you and learning new techniques. :O)
I absolutely LOVE this!!!!!!💜💜💜
wow this looks really good for a beginner so maybe this one will be my first wc later today :P Thank you so much Lindsay for showing us the process by which you create such beautiful things! (I FINALLY got my hands dirty yesterday on the gelli plate and it was fun, yay!) Btw, it was your video on those Jane Davenport paints which inspired me to re-arrange my paints into a cool and warm side to make mixing easier, so thanks for that as well. :-)
Love your Sketchbook Sundays.
This looks so beautiful ♥
Loved it!
So very beautiful. I enjoy watching you build and layer a piece. So much to learn. Thank you for teaching and sharing.
This is just so pretty! What a nice way to brighten a cloudy Sunday here in Washington state! Thank you for the fun tutorial 😊
This was awesome and relaxing to watch. Beautiful!
Thanks Lindsay, this flower reminded me of your lollipop sketch, love the yummy colors. ✨💞💫
I always enjoy your sketchbook water coloring :) Thanks
Bellissima!!!!!!!
Beautiful
Very beautiful!!! And so very inspiring...you’ve made me want to get my watercolors out of hiding! 😂 Thank you 😊🔆
Beautiful! U r so talented. I wish I had even 1% of your talent.
Really cool!
Wow Lindsay. This is so beautiful! You should have a sketchbook dedicated to a rainbow theme.😳
Wow, that is gorgeous , tfs
Great video Lindsay! 😁
This is amazing!
I like your videos because there so inspiring and i love your drawings
This is beautiful! You should do some prints of this one! Thank you for all you do. God Bless
WOW!! How did you do that?! You were given a talent from Heaven above!
Nice!
Very eye catching! And yes Prismacolor does still do neon, I just got my 150 set and neon was included! I love your Sunday videos!

cool!
Prismacolor has a 24 pk of colors for highlighting and shading, it comes with some neon colors.
Alright, you've inspired me. I got a sketchbook that can handle watercolors (not as heavy weight as the Venezia one but I should be fine if I don't soak it) and I'm tackling that artistic block. By the way, any chance you would use the Graphitint pencils in a painting sometime? I'd love to have some inspiration to use them more.
Dollar Tree sells Neon Pencils in their Stationary section.
Prismacolor does offer neon still. I know you mentioned that a couple times in a few videos so i just wanted to let you know or anyone else who was wondering. they do come in sets and open sock. I got a neon pink in my set and I bought a few Neons open stock at the store

Wow, gorgeous! I love your leaf technique and scratching in the veins with the credit card. Do you have to work quickly and scratch them in while the darker paint is still wet?
@ChristinaTodd1970
6 жыл бұрын
Diane O, scratch them while it's wet, right after you paint them. If you wait to long instead of scribing in a dark line it'll kind of squeegee in a light line, like swiping AWAY color.
omg stunning. I want to try this, but if only I can, if only you could do a slower version, if s, lol, ok but anyway I will gather courage and try this. oh so lovely painting, I can't take away my eyes.

The reason these are time-lapsed is because I don't record a narration as I am painting it and to go back and voice it over would take a long time. I am keeping the sketchbook sunday a fun, quick inspiration type of segment:) I always have the long friday tutorials for those who want the longer instruction:)

oh no I didn't mean that way. I know, I understand that you have to paint in your own zen zone where you might not feel like talking. I absolutely love your sketchbook sunday videos also like all your videos. I just meant this rose is so gorgeous that if you could do a live show on that like the candy one. Sorry if I have not made myself clear before. Oh, you don't have to explain to me, I know and I love your quick version of sketchbooks also so much and grateful for all you give dear. Love you and thankyou.
Very pretty Lindsay, I hope your loads of snow is going away. Curious, could you use gouache to paint (lightly of course) in a watercolor sketch book? Thanks for being so inspiring. Sincerely Becky B from Arkansas

love the painting!💜 I have Jane's Davenport watercolor journal is this one your using better for wet media? or are they the same? Thanks for sharing💜😁
@thefrugalcrafter
6 жыл бұрын
that journal would be fine for this, it is a lightweight watercolor paper, it is very similar, the texture is a bit different but it would be great for this (and easier to find than this sketchbook too!)
Lindsay..beautiful! But how do you know when it's time to stop?

When adding to it does not improve it I know it's time to quit.
Love your Sketchbook idea how do you get started with one and I bought the what I feel is the most useless set of watercolor pencils they're the Sargent art watercolor pencils I can't get them to look like anything other than regular colored pencils that's it I got them from Hobby Lobby the young man in the art section that does the watercolor oil paints in what have you suggested these were a decent quality water color pencil and that I would be happy with them I can't get them to do anything and I am new to watercolors I love them I love the unpredictability of what they're going to do I am new to watercolors and I have been watching your videos for a long time that's why I started I think they're wonderful and I am glad you have these classes that you can sign up for intake and I can't wait to take my first one I'm not sure when that's going to be but I hope it's soon

ha welcome to the club, I did that too. Bought several sets of cheap pencils before finally accepting that it just wasn't going to work as well as the prisma or the inktense. Oh well. :-) Dana Wakefield has a video where she says "practice saying oh well a lot". LOL Sums up nicely what Lindsay teaches us in almost every video! 💖 Lindsay!! Anyway, decided I might as well use them up so that Santa will see how good I'm being at practice and then he'll bring me a primsa set for christmas. Btw, you can also use pencil shavings in various artsy projects, or use them in the normal way on a piece of paper that you've placed over something warm like an electric heating pad or slow cooker griddle. Like Lindsay says, just try different things and have fun, it's all good!

I've wondered about that brand, their pastels are great so that's a bummer about the pencils. I just used Amazrock pencils from amazon and they were really vibrant and cheap (36 pencil for $21) so they are a good deal for cheap: amzn.to/2DWoy4V and also the Reeves watercolor pencils are very nice and really cheap and often the big box stores have them: amzn.to/2I6XjHr

This is the description of the sketchbook per Amazon Product description This beautifully made sketching book from Fabriano has 48 sheets of their smooth Fabriano Accademia paper. Accademia paper is wood free, surface sized and acid free. The casebound, stitched pages of the Venezia book is 200gsm and has a sewn-in page marker. 6x9in (15x23cm).

It doesn't say "100% cotton" so I wonder what they used? I've been trying to figure out what I can add to a soaking mixture to increase the quality of cheap paper, so their description is interesting.
@ChristinaTodd1970

Jasper Martin, I wonder what it's made of too. Not wood pulp though, but like Lindsay said, if it was 100%cotton rag I think they would say so. Things that make you go hmmmm.

you could try alum or wallpaper size
@jaspermartin7444
6 жыл бұрын
Thank you for responding Lindsay, I know you're busy! Anyway, not sure about alum but wallpaper sizing decreases absorbancy. Almost everything does, is the problem... (They wind up acting as a sealer after they dry.)
@jaspermartin7444

Thanks for your response too, Christina! That was super helpful cos you (and Lindsay) made me think about it more. Suppose I could see if there's a material data sheet for that product but not likely they'd label the sizing in a way that I could identify the ingredients. But sure sounds like they found a cheaper alternative to cotton!
