Railway Crossings on the Main Trunk between Papakura and Hamilton NZ

Filmed 13/9/22 - 14/9/22
Taken on my trip to New Zealand, these crossings each showcase the unique equipment not found in Australia. All of these crossings are located just south of Auckland on the main line to Wellington. I don't have any info on the freight trains in the video however the passenger train is the daily running Te Huia train to Hamilton which I saw on numerous occasions.
Hope you enjoy!
Crossing Information:
George St, Tuakau
My favorite crossing I managed to film on the trip. Love the EM gates here. This crossing and Logan Rd in Buckland are the only with EM gates between Auckland and Hamilton. Also unique with the red coloured poles.
---
Equipment:
Lights: Griswold, Retrofitted with LEDs (Griswold Crossarms) (None in Australia)
Bells: WCH Electronic Bell
Gates: Griswold EM Gates (None in Australia)
Oram Rd, Meremere
Nice crossing near the freeway, nice combination of equipment and had incandescent lights up until at least 2010 according to google streetview
---
Equipment:
Lights: Montrose of Penrose LED (Montrose of Penrose crossarm) (None in Australia)
Bells: Griswold Mechanical Bell (None in Australia)
Gates: WABCO (None in Australia)
Bases: Unmarked, similar to the old VR bases used in Victoria.
Island Block Rd, Meremere
Simple gateless crossing. The bells sound nice and the landscape is nice around it. If you'd like to see the other side of the crossing I have a video on my crossing channel. Underneath the railway sign is an old wooden sign, wonder what it looked like.

Equipment:
Lights: Montrose of Penrose LED (Montrose of Penrose crossarm)
Bells: Griswold Mechanical Bell
Bases: Unmarked
Tregoweth Lane, Huntly
A bit more of a standard crossing, although unique with the traffic light integrationas well as the Stop On Red Signal signs which are uncommon in New Zealand. Interesing combination of gates too.

Equipment:
Lights: Montrose of Penrose LED (Montrose of Penrose crossarm)
Bells: WCH Electronic Bell
Gates: Kyosan (Not in Australia), Western Cullen Hayes
Bases: Unmarked
Thanks for watching

Tregoweth Ln has Japanese barriers, they can also be found on the Wellington Network but is only on the Johnsonville line.

Kyosan gates previously existed on the St Judes Road level crossing in Avondale, Auckland, but sometime in 2020-ish they were replaced with WCH-Gate Mechanisms. In fact not far from Tregoweth Ln Crossing is a another crossing under a bridge on the Thermal Explorer Highway that also has these gates, just saying that a lot of crossings have these gates in NZ.

I love the bells at 1:50. Way prefer and miss this over the ugly sounding chimes.

I miss the old DC class, Kiwirail has literally withdrawn the majority of the class, and now we mostly have the boring old DL class :(

2:17 (Better in slow motion): What the hell? Why does he have a locomotive in tail knowing that what is coupled behind him is a passenger car with a cabin?

The cabins on those trains are currently not in use, or not allowed to be used.
