Railroad Switching Industrial Spur & CSX Street Running, Louisville Kentucky Trains, CSX Short Line
CSX switching industrial tracks near Louisville, Kentucky with 3 locomotives and a railroad spur that has a level railway crossing on a busy highway. Also a street running train in LaGrange , Kentucky with a CSX mixed freight going down the middle of the road on Main Street. This is an ex Louisville & Nashville Railway line known as the CSX Short Line or LCL. First we see the local switching a customer at Buckner, Ky which is 4 miles south of LaGrange and just north of Louisville. Usually the local works here on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays, at least those are the days that I usually see them. The local runs north to the customer on LaGrange Rd ( Highway 146 ) in the morning and if they pick up cars they will run north to LaGrange to run around their train and then return south toward Louisville. On the day that I filmed them they did not pick up any cars so they did not go through LaGrange and they just returned light with the 3 locomotives. Had they gone through LaGrange they would have gone down the middle of Main Street northbound and then return about 30 minutes later running southbound unless they had more work. After I filmed the local I went to LaGrange and got lucky to catch a northbound train street running. Most road freights on this line run southbound. The day I filmed this, October 9, 2020, I saw 3 street running trains, the local at Buckner and I saw a unique work train at Campbellsburg just north of LaGrange. See that video. On October 9, 2020; there were 6 trains that passed through LaGrange with 3 of them going through in darkness. This line usually gets at least 6 trains a day but it can get 10 or more on busy days. Listen for the trains calling the signals on 161.370 along with the defect detectors and listen for the dispatcher talking to the trains on 161.310. End of train device is 452.9375 and front of train device is 457.9375 but if your scanner doesn't get that many digits just round up to 452.940 and 457.9375. Those are the frequencies that are usually recommended due to that problem. This line is getting fewer trains due to Precision Scheduled Railroading ( PSR ), the virus which I won't mention and a few reroutes going through Indiana. Most of the trains that I film are caught just by luck and patience. Sometimes I go to areas and never see a train. I spent 3 days at Natural Tunnel, Virginia and no trains ran in light. I spent 2 days at Elizabeth, Pennsylvania with no trains in light. People ask all the time how I know when trains are running. Usually, I don't know so I just wait and I strike out all the time. I could make a video about that but there wouldn't be any trains. Lol. Thanks for watching!

Nothing like a Jawtooth video to brighten up the day 😀
I absolutely loved this video! It kind of said “everything will be OK” to me. Small town, train, cafe, no one honking or cussing . . . God has our backs! Thanks for this video!

Thank you Jaw Tooth for more great catches. The way rail freight integrates with industry in the US is impressive. Road traffic - prepare for a long wait!

A favorite channel of mine is a fan of a favorite channel of mine. Awesome. But wait, there's more, there always is. I love it guys and thank you 👍
Overhead of where you are and radio frequencies is a great touch to a great video. It's amazing all the chemicals that pass through LaGrange by rail, which in one instance could level the town but the town trusts CSX to be responsible and safe. Even though the trains provide railfans with a unique opportunity to see a train run down the middle of the road, plus we can get as close as we dare. Think of the money value of the products these trains haul everyday without incident. Hats off to CSX to being an American company that hasn't been farmed out to foreign entities (I don't even know what that word means but I thought I would use it anyway). We need to keep the businesses we have American and bring back the ones we sold away. Sorry, nothing to do with your great video.
But wait! There's more. Oreo Fudge cookies. Love the old buildings every town has. Like the rounded building on the corner. 🥰

@@JawTooth I don't know if you read my comment I left on one of your videos about an hour ago, but I've got 2 CSX coal trains and 2 CSX grain trains on the CSX mainline in Fayetteville, N..C. I don't know if I'll get anymore because its very dangerous in Fayetteville. I actually live in Hope Mills, N.C. but its just a little south of Fayetteville. The CSX mainline runs right behind my parents house. That's where I caught these trains. Thank you for all your good videos Jaw Tooth!
Bit ott with the switching horsepower or what !!! Street runner was powered off one ! Another Jawtooth Kentucky special - the joy is you can legally be close to the action without having to much zoom . Lots of details on this one -a credit to you -lovely and still photography!! Regards
That was 125 cars and two locomotives on that Street-Runner. You've caught up on some great shunting/switching videos this week too. Thanks again Jaw Tooth. Stay Safe and Keep Well out there!
Awesome video 3 standard cab EMD engines switching a customer.
Very nice JT
I love the switching and street running great video JT
Not really in Louisville but close. Welcome to Kentucky Sir. Born and raised in the Bluegrass. Live action son.
Nice catch. I love the old school EMD lash up.
Nice job catching the switching action!!
I think they work the industries around Ghent Ky. On Monday's. There is 2 steel mills 2 chemical plants and a Gypsum board plant. The only good spot to watch is in front of the KU power plant. Sometime in the afternoon.
Kuul find JT. Looks like a neat town. See ya on the next one!!
Both good things - switch work and long street running trains :) I suppose the locals don't enjoy it as much as I do. Thank you!
Cool video Jawtooth. Keep em coming. 👍👍👍❤️
Funny you’re hik-up @ the end 🤣✌🏻
Súper capture my friend !!! Greetings from Argentina 👍😎

@ 5:02... yikes look at that traffic backup... one engr i worked with hated it when we would have the crossing blocked for a good while and then while making moves the engine stops right in the crossing... he'd be ducking down and trying to hide from all the ANGRY stares and glares... he'd yell over the radio, "...hey man you got me in the jackpot again"

Awesome 😎 I'm an old sailor and I live out in the boonies close to the sea, but if I ever move into town, I wanna live in a street where the train runs right down the middle of it. Second best to an ocean view.

I can recommend a good place to eat is 119 West Main Street it’s located right next to the Police Station in LaGrange, Kentucky.

I have ate there a few times. I like that place because you can eat outside on the sidewalk next to the tracks
I understand here in the UK we are overcrowded and short of space but in the USA with safety and lawsuit society you have I am surprised that the railroad company have not had to bypass the main street, plus the trackbed must be worth a fair amount for real estate.,
Three locos seems generous for the local, and only one on the great long manifest.
At about 3:30 she was really singing up a tune!
