Congratulations!! your story touched me in several ways. First of all because it gives me hope, you are the living proof that tours and cruises are not the only option for retired people, second: you've linked two places of the world I love: Patagonia (where I traveled several times) and Portland (some of you came from there) a city I love and enjoyed, and finally because your adventure is like a tribute to friendship among you and with environment, human as well as natural. My regards from Buenos Aires, Argentina.

I am 82 years and in my younger life i formed and ran a touring cycling club and during my cycling years pedled over 26,000 miles. I last rode a bike 10 years ago in Scotland along disused railway trackbeds. but it became to much so had to stop. You are an inspiration to all who view this. thankyou very much.

Some of my friends and I actually did this in Southern California decades ago in the 70s. Only ours were two ten speed bikes welded together and we rode on full size abandoned tracks. Eventually we powered the unit with a 5hp motor with a platform between the rails to ride on. It carried 2 to 4 people and we sat in lawn chairs while riding. I still have photos of this. This is the first time I have ever seen anyone else do anything like it.

Thank you. Watching your movie brought up many memories from riding the line in the late 1980ties from Esquel for the whole length including a three course meal in the diner and running out of coal to heat our coach. Also, an engine break-down let to many hours of delay. The strong but cold winds I could feel again ... I spend all stops outside on the ground trying to collect wood in order to keep a fire going in the coach's oven. And the sun-set looked just like in your movie.

What an amazing adventure! Thank you for taking us along. The beauty of Patagonia astonished me. I had no idea. I love that you made a point to interact with the children you encountered. They'll be telling the stories to their grandkids and I'd bet a few of them build their own rail bikes too.

Yeah but your butt is sitting in a nice comfortable chair. These guys are going through butt torture with those tiny seats, with driving wind and full Sun. Not exactly my idea of fun.

Waxman Real adventure is not always fun, easy, etc. But you never forget it, and always have the sense of accomplishment. Some people don’t need that. Others have a inner drive for that. I admire the fact that 4 guys all we’re adventurous enough to do it. I always had friends through out my life, that never had an adventurous spirit in them. So I was always stuck doing mine alone.
