You gotta remember how nanomachines work and what they were built for. They're made to circumvent the damage a soldier causes to his psyche with his own actions during war, not PREVENT HIM from performing such actions. It would be logical to assume that when a soldier is deprived of feeling guilt and remorse he inevitably lapses into a downward spiral of immorality, committing any cruel act that him or his superiors deem nescessary. So I stand by the fact that Sundowner says shit like "Good times after 9/11" unironically because he's physically incapable of filtering out hot takes from /pol/ out of his thought process.
