My first Rave at 15..The The KLINK in KLINK street, London..Believe , it was a previous prison building, type thing..Brother Tommy Cockles(DJ name) took me and my 13 year old sister.Mad music heads! Came out to sunshine morning at 7 am..Think I remember Sweet child of mine in way home.Same, Adventure..But, very much at home :)

It was sacrilege to listen to anything but the underground sounds back then and those grunger safety pinned noses were shunned by ravers for being weirdos. I remember a sound system in the early days of warehouse raves called Scam. A card with a number on to call to get directions to a train station and call another number for directions from there. We ended up in an old school building out in Essex with the main central hall for the acid house and one side classroom for green haired freaks all in black being entertained with Goth. That room shut down at like 2am due to sound issues and all these weirdos off their noodles on acid came to join us ravers. It was a surreal experience. Or maybe that was just the Purple Oms made it surreal to be dancing with what most of us considered weirdos. They were actually decent folk tbf and we had a good giggle with em. Saw a few of them again at the next Scam but they'd been converted to the underground by then. Gone was green hair and whistles and fisherman's hats were out in force 😂

Listening to this again takes me back to smoking in cars. First time I heard it remember feeling like a part of my brain had been unlocked and knew it would never be the same again. It wasn't, ill be forever glad for that. The tunes of this period formed a lot of us and we are the better for it, convinced of that.... "Request to all I equal acid people!"

Anthony Nichols I first went Berwick manor on my 17th birthday dropped an original dove and that was it I was there every week til it shut God bless the original Berwick manor possie! Peter piper pumpkin eater roger Johnson on the decks and pas by prodigy and other big names the sweat dripping off the ceiling the smell of poppers everyone mash up the bouncers serving up smoking weed in the garden under the big tree.... People would come from all over the uk to the manor... Driving home through the lanes trying not to run random people over Ahhh good memories It's a poncy hotel now BUT they are holding a reunion there at the end of April me and my Bessie are going I know it won't be the same but I'm sooooo excited x
